Watching you clean the channel drain brings back some satisfying memories of when I worked at a car wash. On rainy days (when we didn't have many customers) I would take up the grates above our drain trench and clean our drain channel with the power washer.

I was wondering, wouldn't it be more practical to first scoop all the grease out of the channel drain into a bucket with a garden scoop? Yes, yes, I know! You are supposed to send it through the grease trap but what if you simply empty said bucket directly into the grease trap and save yourself some shoving and pushing with mister plunger? From Canada here. How do plastic bags get into the grease traps? Surely they aren't going down the sinks or floor drains in the restaurant. Is the grease trap connected to the storm drains or something and its washing down from there?

Probably the drain channel that's around the grease trap. Plastic bags easily can go through grates. That's my guess.

You should get a grabber on a long pole to get objects out of narrow drains. People really misuse and abuse those drains with total disregard for what it does to a business. And those channel drains are just nasty. They hold all the grease and garbage and just make a fermenting, dusgusting mess. Why even have those drains?

Give me the sewage tank to clean any time, just blast it with the hose and pump it out, i wearing breathing apparatus and a Hazmat suit. The slop drain tank had all the galley waste mixed with congealed fat caked on the walls 150mm + thick and had to be removed by scraping it off and taken out in sacks, took days.🤢
