One feature you didn't mention: the Corsair copilot has missile control, and because they can operate the remote turret the corsair can then lock and launch missiles to anything visible to that turret, so ahead, behind, to the sides...

The Corsair shows how well CIG has nailed down the Drake design language. The airlock and cockpit area is my favorite part. All the exits also exposes the MSR for its lack of them. Corsair is functional charm while MSR employs chess board charm.

Ugh i was so happy with my carrack but it felt so big without many friends to fly it with. Seeing this vid really made me fall in love with the Drake Corsair. Its rustic design is giving me star wars - millenium falcon vibes and I am loving it. Dont really like pirating as I am already happy I figured out how to start up a ship and land without crashing but this could be the perfect exploration ship. Beautiful

It's also the new King of Antipiracy. I use it for escort/patrol duty on the hunt for pirates. It's the commandship for all operations of me and my buddies. We already got pulled out of quantum by pirats and they did regret it. It could be also part of small military battle groups. The design is pretty good for combat if you have something guarding your blind spot.

@@LegacyGamingUS Yep definitly, there are some direct comparisons in fights of fully crewed ships against each other and the ship seems to be fairly balanced. It won vs. Connie, but lost vs. Connie with its snub acitve, no chance vs. Hammerhead, lost vs. Redeemer, won vs. MSR and lost vs. Retaliator. I don't understand why so many are calling for a nerf already...

@Mr. Reee Yeah but its fight with the Connie showed that an agile fighter can stay in the blind spot even if the Corsair is pitching up for its turrets to get a shot. It’s pitch is better than yaw but you’re not gonna be using it to dogfight. I have one but personally prefer the Connie for the little bit of extra agility and almost double hull HP with the same shields (also kinda like how the Connie has more of a bridge than a cockpit lol)

I am not sure whether you forget to retest the Corsairs performance in atmosphere after it was adjusted but in my tests at sea-level, it looped a few seconds faster than the Constellation and performed an emergency horizontal 180 course change a few seconds faster. If a Connie managed to survive a head-on pass then you would be able to turn and start shooting at him for a couple of seconds before he could bring his own guns to bear (assuming your co-pilot had not already used the turret to lock on and destroy him with missiles while he was behind you)

I absolutely love my corsair, definitely a power house even with gimbals. I've been doing VHRTs solo in it, and it shreds the hammerheads. I'm definitely looking forward to its flight changes with 3.18. I always have my ursa loaded in the back for bunkers or exploration. This ship does it all for me.

I like the Corsair, the only downside is the landing gear, when you land on uneven ground, it makes the ship not so likable because it glitches/unstable when it's on the ground.

Upgrading my LTI Cutlass Red to Corsair can get very cheap $165 now or about $140 in about 6 months time using discounted CCU chains. No rush will get later.

I really like how well made the corsair is but It needs some work for me to consider it as a daily. The biggest downside to this ship is its minuscule H2 fuel tank. The Corsair runs dry in exactly 800km, all stater ships have twice as much H2 fuel. CIG needs to buff this immensely as this ship will be worthless come pyro if unchanged. The second issue with the Corsair is its atmospheric controls are some of the worst I have experienced in any ship asides the 890 jump. This thing is less than half the size of carrack and has 40 maneuvering thrusters, why are they only pissing out 2 pounds of thrust? The ship feels like it weighs as much as an aircraft carrier with how poorly it handles. If CIG fixes these two glaring issues then I can consider it as a daily driver, until then it’s pretty worthless to me.

as a prize ship the caterpillar is easy to load in zero G; the star runner rips through atmo and is faster as well as the C2/M2/A2... do not get me wrong the corsair is a great ship and the lights are def a bonus but being a pirate myself it is not always the best choice for pirate ops... a good pirate org has light fighters to take down most target ships with a mantis or cutty blue to hold it down, the big guns on the corsair can be helpful but it can also go into hard death on the target too easily and pirates want soft death so all that loot stays intact. i know on paper it may seem like the best for piracy but currently i would say there are better ships that accomplish the role that the corsair fills in a pirate team. to be honest we pirate more corsair's by a long shot than use them in our ops... and we have plenty of folks in our org that own a corsair. it really only get's used by us when it is the only choice we have available when we need a prize ship for the booty. otherwise the ships i mentioned above are chosen over the corsair... for smaller hits we tend to use the cutty black or freelancer more often than the corsair.

Since you can melt anything to heavy to dodge your nose and the turrets Omnidirectional locking missiles and the turrets + maybe a fighter will at least scare of anything lighter

@@LegacyGamingUS The weakness feels a little forced though. For the type of ship, a single belly turret makes more sense than the two side turrets… less overall firepower, but no blind spot and frees up a crewman for engineering or other work.

When I was playing around on the Corsair during IAE that MFD on the floor was just a duplicate screen of the panel on your left. Is that still the case? I was hoping it was a truly independent panel so we could put comms on the floor and stop incoming messages from impacting our other displays.

Corsair is imo the essence of the rugged Hero ship. Its not the best at anything but it doesn't need to be. We have other ships for that. I also use it as a hit and run ship. Kill what it can take out, run from what it can't.

You have to pay for the base game unless it is during one of several "free-fly events" that happen throughout the year for a week or two at a time. We only suggest you pay for a starter pack to get the game and that's it. Everything else can be earned in game.

Idk man there so much work out into it and it seems like the developers stand to make more money by finishing the game and adding features than by rug pulling. Plus the main developer is pretty well knows and respected. Imo the game promised to much but it does look like it might end up fulfilling that promise eventually
