What about keep the show PG, Josh is a science teacher at the same school he went to. Drake is a studio musician writing songs for the same record label that was on the show prior. Drake has a young daughter who is working her way up to Stardom on that same label. Drake helping with writing songs for her. The label screws them over ruining Drake and his daughters reputation. Leaving Drake broke and the label taking all their money. So they’re forced to move in with Josh. Drake gets his band back together to help pay bills. His daughter gets a job at the same movie theater Josh worked at. Helen is still the boss. Mindy is the principal at the same school Josh works at(just to one up him). The whole plot of the show is Drake trying to fix his daughter and his reputation musically so they can jump on another label. While Josh and Mindy go back and forth at each other until they fall in love again eventually having a baby. At this time the show ends. While Drake and his daughter both became a father/daughter duo for a famous label. Give me a job. I’ll write the show.

It’s sad what has happened between Drake and Josh and then the recent documentary and learning what happened to Drake. I honestly get Josh and that he might’ve felt a certain way being the fat kid on the show but even then I don’t think people thought he was a joke meme. He was loved because him and Drake were hilarious as fuck and as the show went on he lost weight and still balled. I really hope one day the show can come back if it’s even possible anymore with recent news on Scheider. I believe the show was still genuine and it’s clear at least Drake always loved the show. I believe Josh did for sure but I feel something changed him to think bad of the show. That’s why the script he proposed years ago was some sort of weird personal thing. I really hope both can reconcile and hopefully in the future it can come back, even for a movie with the laugh track. I feel the show deserved more episodes. It is true comedy and it’s legendary.

How I would have fixed the reboot Drake is part time musician that's struggling to get by performing for birthday parties, getting money for doing music in the street and etc, while Josh has a successful job and is able to get by and keep their apartment in check. Both Drake and Josh also have to deal with family visitors
