The announcer at 3:02 has clearly not spent any real time around race horses claiming the jockey after he got head-butted by the horse from the neighboring gate/stall. The mass of such a head and the muscles in that neck - that jockey was lucky to remain conscious enough to be able to hold onto the railing as others recognized later. If any jockey in that race has accountability for what happened, it would be the one of the horse in the neighboring gate that wasn't under control prior to the start. Well, this is one reason why the stalls are larger in the starting gates in the US, and why an assistant starter is standing on the ledge of each stall holding the horse's head straight and ready for the start. In the States, Buick would not have gotten hit in the head by the horse next to him, because the assistant starter would have been holding the horse preventing him from swinging his head to the side when he reared. Also, the assistant starters begin yelling very loudly to the starter to wait when anything happens with a horse, or when a jockey is not properly on the horse ready for the start.

Too many times the race has gone ahead recently when the stall crew have shouted for a halt....This could have been dreadful,visions of jockey being dragged etc,and as others have said,who on earth thought it was a good idea to set fireworks off?. It was bad enough to upset some horses at the start let alone the horses nearer to the stands. I've written to the B.H.A but, I won't hold my breath.

And give it to them with both barrels! As luck would have the jockey who was hit was too groggy and stunned to hold onto the horse. Thank heavens!

So glad the jockey was ok, after that whack from the other horse he might not have been in a 'çlear' state to ride that race..needing a check over & time to settle from the shock. Kudo's to the horse though he did a good job on his own! G'day from Aus🦘

Just before the horse reared up, Will was chatting to the jockey next to him and it was just as if, the other jockeys horse, leaned over, to tell Will to to SHUT UP then bashed him in the head for good measure. It was extraordinary.

so a horse without a jockey and without being beaten all the time wins...that's interesting. maybe we should rethink this and let all horses run without a jockey

At what point does the racing commission, or whoever's actually in charge, start taking people "out behind the barn" ? I understand that disruptions like fireworks and 'accidents' like this haven't been a rare occurrence. Is that true ?

Buick was being a baby anyway acting like he was hurt? Horse didn’t even touch him
@simnoe38482 жыл бұрын
@@JPwhoknows that is not true. You are an idiot to think that a jockey would try and stop an entire race and ruin the day for thousands of people for something so selfish. I can clearly see in the images that the horse turned into his stall and swung right into his eyes. As well as the concerned looks on the handlers, jockeys and other people who were in the frames. His face was also a bit pale afterwards which does NOT happen to a jockey that has faked an injury. I know because I have fallen off many horses and my siblings have been thrown from horses or smacked by horses like this jockey was. We end up injured with back and head injuries EVERY SINGLE TIME. And guess what, we look like this jockey did EVERY SINGLE TIME. He is not being a baby. The starter was being selfish and did not pay attention to the welfare of the jockeys before starting the race. They could have avoided the loose horse if they had waited just a few more minutes.

Technically the horse won because its horse racing not jockey racing it’s all about the horses the horses speed stamina etc the jockey is only there to guide the horse and that’s it so blue trail technically won and whoever thought of the rule that a horse needs A jockey to win was probably drunk or on something because it’s all About the horses not the jockey so they should get rid of this dumb stupid rule because it’s pointless and defies what horse racing is horse racing is about the horses only not the jockey
