That last story was something else. "I know I'm guilty, but I'm going to spend the whole time trying to make it seem like I'm not". Meanwhile it's all about him being "concerned" over a cop that horribly murdered someone perhaps getting to harsh of a punishment. Seriously, fuck that guy.

That last story is clearly missing an entire in-between part of the FC leader letting him get away with saying cringe over and over. That dude is either trolling or spouting his political beliefs with no recourse and the members had enough of it. I think the reality they refused to kick someone who was upsetting other members so they left for their own sanity as this dude poisoned their FC.

The funny thing is The Question was actually very neutral, and understandable from someone who doesn't know law. That he got hyper defensive about it was the sus part, as if he didn't start the story by going "GURLZ IN GAAAAAAAAAMES????"

Nope. That first joke was the only time I spoke to the group as a whole. The rest were one on one interactions, or small groups. Politics never came up until the case, and even then the case had been going on for weeks before my question.

That nothing happened seen is one of the most bad as moments in anime not just one piece lol it killed me he said it but didn't explain it. Zoro is the captains second in command and took on all of the captains injuries to show resolve and loyalty. And when asked what happened he is barley standing and covered in blood. And he says nothing nothing happened

Yes to that question. Pressure from the public does have a possibility to change the outcome of a case. It never should but it does. Now i will absolutely not comment on that case but public outcry was quite visceral. If you watch enough cases, like i have some 300+ easy, you see public outrage and excessive media coverage can persuade the juries some areas of the country enough to cause a more harsh outcome or even false imprisonment for some. Some that have in fact since been overturned. Yes surprisingly the justice system is terribly broken and full of loopholes but what ya gonna do?

He's half right thou in that if he's in a situation where he can't talk about common news with people without them having a meltdown at him then he's in the wrong place. First it doesn't sound like he was politically disagreing with anyone, secondly if we're all adults in the room we should be able to politically disagree and politely move on with it.

Most want to chill out and forget the real world while spending time with friends. What this dude did was change the culture of the FC and the FC leader let him causing everyone to leave.

It just sounds like they were all coming at it from the same side of being upset at what had occurred, while the author was thinking about something that ran counter to what they were all saying. But it sounds like the conversation was already happening.

I will say The Question is fair to ask in general because I guarantee the 99% of people that don't know law are pretty justified in wondering that...but why on Hydaelyn's green earth are you asking your *FC* that you started out on thin ice with that!? Ask your PARENTS, your NEIGHBORS, people you know in real life, don't toss yourself on a spike trap like that with your guilds! Furthermore, if you and your guild DO discuss real life events, please god don't choose George Floyd as your starter topic. Start simple, like what what food you like or new movies you wanna see, don't just put a political target on your back on the first discussion. "Written a verbal IED" is some incredible black comedy, though, I'll give him that. And then the (Several people are typing...) chat response, weirdfish, you have my respect.

The meeting of the FC and the case of Floyd were months apart. We had established rapport by then and were on good terms. I didn't start the politics talk. It had been going on for weeks. Much love man.

The last op is dumb, but not because his opinions. It was kinda bullshit how you all went after him. Like he wasn't bringing up the politics everyone else was talking about it. What everyone who was posting wanted was asspats. If I genuinely respect some people and they comes to you wanting asspats, you should call them out for wanting asspats if you agree with them, and disagree with them if you disagree with them. It is bullshit EVERYONE gets to post their political opinions on the subject but you can't because you aren't feeding into the spiral. His solution is completely acceptable. If you don't want GDKP loot system tell the guild you are joining what kind of loot system you want. If you want an english speaking guild tell the guild that you only speak english. If you want bantz with the boys, tell them you want to be able to shit talk each other and not have forbidden topics. He was dumb because he didn't know how to pick his battles. Sometimes you just want to stay silent, but he was not smart enough to be aware that by him not being silent he is opening the door or starting the battle as it will.

Nah, I knew it was a losing battle. I also know what escalation looks like, and being a student of history, I would much rather hand people the opportunity to reason with me with the - 1% chance of understanding one another than what comes next. The ideologs take over, and if they win, their views become common sense and justice. And the way they take over? The ones who ask questions die by their will. We are not headed to a good place, especially with people walking down the laissez-faire path and people will celebrate the killing of people like me who would only ask the question "why?" and they will do so happily, instead of trying to figure out the answer. I never root for any side. I just want to understand why I should join a group in their opinion before giving my support.

The last author was right about one thing, toxic positivity is a problem in FFXIV and you shouldn't hang out with people that get butt hurt over a benign comment like "guys I'm really afraid anger might win over justice here". But the average FFXIV player doesn't understand opinions that counter their own so that brings us full circle to the toxic positivity thing.

Given his attitude on things, I highly doubt that was the only "innocent" question he had asked or topic he talked about that rubbed people the wrong way. But what do you do when staying silent only leads to worsening conditions in society, or worse yet, real violence and eventually war? When we're out there taking their lives and/or having ours taken, how could anyone look back, at our present time, and not regret reaching out and attempting to talk, even if there was only a fraction of a chance to change another's point of view? What if that other was a loved one, and the only reason they didn't radicalize was because you challenged their points of view? History teaches us that we'd be fools to think that if we do nothing, then nothing happens to us.
