Confusion guide TL;DR: The author is devoid of responsibility and decisiveness and tries to play 2 guilds without committing to any one of them and deluding herself that others are being unreasonable for not going along with her shenanigans. The leaders of the guild she's leaving are prolonging the drama and leading an idiotic investigation instead of just kicking her in 2 minutes and being done with it. Textbook pointless drama over nothing.

"You're using God power emotes!" Proceeds to not be self-aware and having been doing God Power Emotes the entire time. Look, I used to RP. I got tired of it when I figured out that basically everyone just roleplays "Pay attention to meeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!" rather than trying to tell a story. Basically, it's amateur writing hour for 5th graders, even when some of these people are 20 and over. Any sanely run RP has these 3 rules to do with "God Moding". 1. You cannot finish your actions by stating what happens to the other RPer. That is, if you can say you swung your sword at them, but not that they took the hit from the sword. If they elect to take the hit from the sword, they need to say what happens. This is to allow players some leeway in making fighting acts exciting. 2. You are not invincible, immortal, or can dodge everything. You do not have movie star action powers. You can't pull out last minute Deus Ex Machina powers, skills, abilities, to "win" a fight or "avoid death". If what you're doing would happen in an action movie, an anime, or a video game, to win the fight, you do not have access to this. Your skills, limitations, and abilities are established before your fight and MUST be somewhere on your character sheet/bio/or known to the players you are with. Your job is to make the fight interesting. As such, you will take some hits. You will run out of stamina at some point. You will not be "untouchable" and "unassailable". You are putting on a performance. You do not have to have your character die, but your actions should be reasonable and within the realm of realism. 3. All fights SHOULD have a "referee" of some sort to prevent shenanigans. Someone to call out players exercising Godmoding among other things. This "referee" should be completely impartial and SHOULD be the arbiter of fairness. This referee should have their priorities set to "ensuring it's a good show". That is, making sure it's interesting, fair, and exciting. They can void the entire fight if they need to for getting ridiculous, being boring, or players breaking too many rules. That is, the fight didn't happen because it wasn't Roleplayed. And, then, my own UNOFFICIAL rule that I've adopted because so many Roleplayers are just... horrible at it. 4. Your character is NOT you. If you CANNOT separate out your character from yourself, then you aren't Roleplaying. You are attention-seeking. It isn't my job to love you enough because mommy and daddy didn't. It isn't my job to shower you with the adoration you wish your peers would give you. If my character doesn't like yours, that's my character not liking yours. This is not me not liking you. You should not get upset that my character is doing things to your character, or is treating your character badly, or doesn't want to hang out with your character. Likewise, if my character has positive experiences with yours, this is not me having a positive experience with you. My character getting into a relationship with yours is NOT me getting into a relationship with you. I am here to tell stories in a group setting. I am not here to fill some void in my life or hole in my heart with random strangers. Yes, this even works if you and I are in a real relationship together. Just because I am with you, does not mean my character needs to be with yours. If you cannot separate yourself from your character, then I have no interest in Roleplaying with you. Again, I am here to tell stories and to exercise my writing.

The entire guild needs to be linked to the DSM's section on personality disorders with linking examples of Holly's and Tountas' past behaviors.. emotional manipulation, public shaming and humilation, insane expectations of unquestioning loyalty, complete inability to take any criticism, etc.. you can't have a conversation with that.. they want a lengthy conversation where they get more of a chance to manipulate and deceive you..

Hey there, author of the first story, I wanna thank you again Preach for reading it. I hope the second part that I sent in didn't come off as too bitchy on my part. In case anyone thinks the story's a bit inconsistent, I think it's some of Preach's rendition that made it come off as a bit inconsistent: I was indeed guildless at the time, they all went crazy in /say, and the guild leader unignored me just to tell me that I am being silly for taking on high level characters. I probably should've taken them on... BATMAN STYLE!

My guild (a very large one) does advertise no drama, and they do legitimately keep drama out of the guild. But I've been in a lot of guilds that were not like this...I guess I'm fortunate to have this.

@@Kalgert Bizzare, never heard about that. Been on ED, Moonguard, WrA and never really ran into any people like that, guilds that reqiure use of DnD addons or rollimg mechanics are usually pretty open and by-the-book in my experience. Though there's of course occasional lunatics.

While my stay on Sha'tar didn't have any kind of cabal of this kind, Argent Dawn certainly seems to have some small semblance of one in the form of a Roleplay Network that they established (Essentially different guilds of every faction being connected). Did hear some of those guilds going through background searches through some third-party website to see who is a "Troll" or not based on forum posts. Elder Scrolls Online however's a different issue: One server on EU, the big guilds essentially cannibalizing the smaller guilds, your username being up there for everyone to see. So if you are in bad graces with someone, they'll spread your name and eventually you're essentially fucked. It's basically Vanilla-styled blacklisting, only it's account-wide rather than character-wide, which sucks.

Roleplay is for interesting social interaction outside of "fuck u noob, lerm mekanicks". The core fun revolves around acting. If you enjoy acting, then roleplaying is a natural segue into that pastime. From experience, 99% of roleplay is light, fun and doesn't cross into any weird drama territory. But boy when that 1% drama pops up, it's funny. Unfortunately, those are the only things people outside of the RP community hear about is when some big RP drama bash happens and everyone makes fun of it. In short: Goldshire is an exception, not the rule. Lol.

Do you see the appeal of, let's say, Dungeons and Dragons or creative writing exercises? Or acting, drama, perfoming? It has elements of all of those things. There's fundamentally no difference between being able to enjoy those things and being able to enjoy RP in certain video games. Much like DnD, creative writing, acting, drama, performing etc. it doesn't mean you're dumb or lesser or something for not enjoying it yourself, but the appeal is pretty easy to see and understand. Characters can be developed both through your own thoughts in your head and through interacting with others. Storylines can progress and involve multiple different "contributors". You can play off-the-cuff and think on your feet or you can be involved in more scripted material. It's fundamentally quite similar to various other creative activities. Most RP that actually occurs is nothing like the weird shit you hear about on drama time. Much like how most raiding guilds are not as bad as the insane cesspool guilds on drama time.

Holly's setup was something straight outta Conan. I like it. Problem is, you GOT to incorporate the /ch and /emotes into action. You can't just have unchecked immunity to hold a guy hostage with whatever /rp MC you can concoct. If you are slitting a guy up piece by piece, actually kill him with an emote adding a body part each time as you camp him. But to just mind control someone like a dad playing peekaboo for 2 hrs with his 40yr old kid. It's amazing. You're a Ken Doll.... essentially
