His tips in Wrath about playing Demo for the SP buff and how to max it out got my guild through a lot of raids...at a time when most warlocks were still running the sacrifice specs for personal dps. The fact that he would take the time to answer my stupid questions on the forums or reach out to chat to me is something I appreciate now more than I did back then. So hey, if Buzzkill comes by here...Here's another thank you from Dunwich.

12:42 "SK vetoed one of Nihilum's best shamans Aniz, no details on why from anybody" I understand I'm a few months late to this video but I'm the person in this context and the reason was simply I constantly made fun of Mek for being a shit player when I was in the alliance guild Forte which was on top over SK Gaming prior to Sunwell for many raids. I was always outspoken as a teenager and I still am and after Ensidia disbanded more people had no issues saying the same thing about Mek. It was only him really, the other leader Mackzter was someone I was on better terms with as we would sometimes play CS outside of the game. All in all it is what it is and I never played WoW for "eSports", I was just playing for fun but when you come from heavily mechanical competitive games it's guaranteed that nothing in WoW is challenging enough on an individual level. So the way I saw it the veto was actually favorable for me in the long run. I went casual after being voted out but after moving regions for work I somehow found myself in the same race in which I subbed in for Yogg+0 and managed to kill it worlds first with a Chinese guild but that was the last of it. I did come back for Classic and did some ICC speedrunning where we innovated things that hadn't been done before like LK 0 room, Sindragosa 0 air phase where I was the solo healer etc and but again it's just WoW Wotlk, it ain't that serious compared to current retail. Cool video though, very well researched!

Oh yeah and the person who was responsible for this merger was an oiler obviously, an oiler who was actually in our guild that decided to do what he did after our guild fell apart and some of us went to Nihillum and some went to SK Gaming. I've been a casual player since Vanilla, playing off and on through the years. I was on Area-52 Horde Consortium rep grinding when the top guild of that server at the time finally downed KJ...and the legendary bow dropped. Despite having two? hunters I think in the raid comp, it went to their rogue Analogkid (or some Rush song reference named character). I've never seen a General chat so enraged haha. Wild times. I only played rogue at the time so secretly I was like 'heck yea!, big W to the rogue', but the frustration was pulsing everywhere that night, sympathizing with the hunters that got shafted on an opportunity they most likely wouldn't ever see again when Sunwell was the endgame raid.

Preach did a good job on this, though Preach omitted a small detail from the last part. Ensidia ended up server transferring to "Paragon's server" (Lightning's Blade) as a last ditch effort to gain level playing field and ended up ruining the server for 2 years to follow during and after ICC progression. Also the saronite bomb debacle was bit bigger than that. There was allegedly proof that some of Ensidia knew that they were exploiting (with the platform clearly building back up and they knew it was not normal, this was shown in their kill screenshot even). That caused a lot of inner turmoil within Ensidia and ultimately ended up bringing up the "odd ventrilo rules" for Heroic prog that destroyed morale to the ground. I remember talking about it with Ensidia members that were super fed up to the whole thing. I still to this day remember how Ensidia finally conceded that Paragon was a real thing after they lost LK HC kill to them fair and square. Before that they called Paragon a fluke guild and blamed most of it to server stability and better "tribalism?" because they were only Finnish guild. I remember it form the World chat, raid chats from farm alt raids and it was additionally fueled by tons of fans. If you are still interested about the whole picture, I'm fairly sure you can still google "The Ensidia Journey" and read up on it. I remember there being fairly big write up on the whole thing that goes a lot more in detail, even though Preach did a banging job on this one ^^ (This is how i remember it, i played in Lightning's Blade prior to Paragon coming there, Ensidia following during ICC prog and after that. I knew few players from Paragon personally IRL so take this whole story with a grain of salt because it might be colored with time and propaganda :D)

What does "ruining the server" mean?
@Fronzify9 ай бұрын
@@thayalol Well in this case the server got too crowded in days and it ruined most guilds, the old population ended starting to tranfer so they could enjoy ICC prog. Kungen has stated on streams several times that people would spam login their old server Magtheridon whenever they were raiding, making it very slow and laggy, no matter which time during the day. They felt they had to switch to Lightning Blade to even compete, and to prevent the "trolls" from doing their thing.

Why do people keep mis-remembering this. The Saronite Bomb glitch drama happened on NORMAL MODE, the week that the last wing opened. The heroic raid had not even unlocked - Ensidia were banned for 3 days, so were unbanned before heroic opening week. Therefore, it's absolutely not a case that the "debacle was bigger than that" - it was a complete non factor. The top 1000 guilds killed LK Normal within a couple of raid nights, which was needed to unlock heroic the following week. MMO announcement of Ensidia suspension for 72 hours - 4th Feb 2010 Blizzard reported date of [exploit occurrence] - 3rd Feb 2010 Lord Marrowgar heroic world first - 9th Feb 2010 (this is the date of ICC hc opening)

A good guild is like any good company. You need a good environment, need to feel valued, need to have fun when its due, work when you need to work, and feel safe to grow and make contributions. And then be rewarded. Elitism and ego will only eventually kill anything.
@codheadhunter9 ай бұрын
The Saronite bomb glitch was on normal mode, which most guilds killed within a couple of raid progress nights. Heroic and the actual race unlocked the following week. Not sure why Preach didn't discuss Heroic ICC at all, and just ended it on Paragon winning Normal mode wing 4 week 1 ICC, as if that really meant anything. For LK Hc it was a more interesting race, as the concept of split raiding was created around this time by Paragon (due to limited attempts on end-wing bosses), and Ensidia moved to their server (Lightning's Blade) to try have equal chances in terms of server lag. Felt like this video ended very very abruptly after such a comprehensive build. T11 was also very notable because Paragon vs Method vs Ensidia was a very long and brutal race, taking about 1.5 months to clear; Ensidia did end up the lowest of the 3, but it was a relatively good showing against guilds that were becoming behemoths. ---- Edit for clarity: MMO announcement of Ensidia suspension for 72 hours - 4th Feb 2010 Blizzard reported date of [exploit occurrence] - 3rd Feb 2010 Lord Marrowgar heroic world first - 9th Feb 2010 (this is the date of ICC hc opening)

Hmm yeah If this is true I don't know why he didn't cover it, preach is normally very good in research and information. Maybe this one was rushed to fast?
@natev5809 ай бұрын
I'm going to assume it's because the title of the video is literally "The BIRTH and DEATH of WoW's Super Guilds". Let's be real. After Ulduar, Ensidia didn't do anything note worthy. Thus the death of a super guild. And thus the end of the story.
@codheadhunter9 ай бұрын
@@natev580 If you want to talk "literally", the literal death of Ensidia was Firelands, which obviously they didn't go anywhere near that far. If you want to discuss the 'rise and fall' of a subject, which is a shorter timeframe from its literal death and more encompassing of the subject of interest, then in this case, the video ends extremely abruptly. It ends even before discussing anything in regards to ICC heroic (the video ends at ICC Normal mode...), which was such a legendary race, yet it's just completely omitted from this video. Don't get me wrong, I love preach and this video, it just ends abruptly, I was almost expecting a "part 2" notification.

It was a glitch, but, one does have to admit the platform itself was made of Saronite, so, the fact that shrapnel from a saronite bomb could create a replacement platform in this magical world isn't totally far-fetched. Honestly, it would be cool as hell if such mechanics for seemingly trivial crafting items did exist. Then again, it is well-known Saronite bombs were a part of high-end rotations at this time.
