You’re absolutely right, they are definitely getting better. And it’s remarkable because they’ve been together and performing for almost ten years, but instead of plateauing and coasting on their past successes, they are constantly improving. Kirsty has grown so much and these last few releases, plus the entirety of this new Christmas album, she has really come into her own and it’s a joy to watch. And I love that she’s belting this high notes because it allows Mitch to sing in his lower register which I love. Matt, Scott, and Kevin...what can I say about these amazing gentlemen. Also their song writing has grown and matured as well. I can’t help but gush about them.
@frutepye78594 жыл бұрын
Kirstin has really blossomed since her stint on Broadway. It makes me wonder if she might have had a confidence problem that that really helped with.
@donnone72954 жыл бұрын
Almost 10 years? 2011 was when the original 5 were noticed on NBC'S "Sing-off" and the change from Avi to Matt was in 2017. So these 5 have 3 years together but if you start with the original 3 it's more than 20 years. Scott and Mitch met when they were 10 years old and Kirsten met them in High school drama class.
@dangdang43343 жыл бұрын
@@donnone7295 obviously it's in reference to the 4 that have been together since the sing off, Scott, Kirstin, Mitch, and Kevin, as they are the ones who have been together as a group for nearly 10 years. However Avi and Matt also have done nothing but improve during their respective times with the group too

I actually refer to Pentatonix as a band because they refer to THEMSELVES as a band. And what a band they are! They've gone from that group of somewhat awkward teenagers on The Sing Off to an amazing collection of mature, professional vocalists on a level above just about everybody else in the business today. It has been a pure joy to watch (and hear)...especially watching Kirstie mature over the last couple of years into a TRUE SUPERSTAR!! She is no longer that timid and shy little girl who was too afraid and/or self-conscious over certain incorrectly perceived physical and vocal shortcomings anymore. She is shining brightly now, and nobody deserves it more!!

Atheist here. Even though my beliefs are different, we can still appreciate the beauty of song and music. Amazing Grace also holds a place in my heart. And I agree that they get better with each song and I love the maturity they show in this.

I love to hear instruments, sonetimes music played with only instruments. But, I have never listened to a song by Pentatonix and wished that they had instruments. Honestly, the way they arrange and sing music, I usually don't notice that they don't use instruments. The sounds of their voices completely fill the space! And, yes, I agree, they do seem to be getting even better. Every time I listen to them I feel better. Thank you for reacting to them!

Anyone who loves music can appreciate this song. Whether or not a person is religious or not, whether a person believes or not, the music, the vocals, the harmonies are superb. The history of the poem/song is beautiful. It’s a story of conviction, forgiveness, redemption-both in earthly terms and spiritual. Music is music for music’s sake. One of the oldest forms of music, the Gregorian chants, are beautiful in and of themselves. People need to get past their pettiness and enjoy the sheer beauty of the song, the music.

This version of the song came out with the movie Amazing Grace. It's an amazing movie. One of my absolute favorites. It's a movie focused on William Wilberforce. He was an abolitionist, focused on stopping slavery completely. He learned amazing grace from a man who became a priest in the catholic church because he hated what he did. He wrote the song from the humming from the slaves that he would hear in his dreams.

I played 3 instruments and sang in acapella and a traditional "band" setup, all before becoming ill, of course. Music is as necessary as oxygen is to me. I enjoy good music from every genre and I'm fascinated with this group because they're so unique and they keep growing in skill instead of reaching their limit. Thank you so much for checking out their cover of this beautiful song that we all know all too well. Music is something that should be shared and that's why I enjoy a few good reaction channels. I think many people go into this expecting the traditional hymn, but this is Chris Tomlin's adaptation, adding the My Chains Are Gone. It's inspired by the fact that the original hymn writer was a reformed slave ship captain, John Newton. Another nifty side note is that the original hymn is written in the pentatonic scale, most often associated with the slave chanty songs. If you've never seen it, you might enjoy Wentley Phipp's live recitation and performance developing that part of the history.
@rdmrdm26594 жыл бұрын
I think this arrangement is very respectful of the meaning of the original and I suspect that John Newton himself would have approved.

So, what really bugs me is people who 'of their own free will' go to someone's page and then decide to criticize what THAT person puts on THEIR page! I mean, if they have such an issue, why not start their own, or just be quiet....? Oh, wait! That's right...haters can't create, they can only criticize and try to tear down. That's their only power, and it's a petty little power at that. There are truly many more non-haters than haters and we can all build faster than they can destroy. And thus....they continue to hate. All I can say is find what makes YOU happy, and do that. There are way more of us who love you and what you do than those who don't. Attach importance to the voices of those who support you and let the other mental midgets and emotional eunuchs drift away on the breeze. Your reactions and your knowledge and YOU matter to us, sir.
