I'd never heard this song before and I'd never heard Farnham do anything but ballads before. This is one of the greatest things I've ever heard and I've listened to music my whole life. The performance is on such a high level of authentic showmanship it's almost bizarre. WOW.

John sings so many different songs; from rock, (try watching his cover of Led Zepplin's - Black Dog; better than the original IMO) pop, blues, everything in between with a bit of opera plus rock-opera (Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar - the Sydney Opera House last night version is epic). He is also a humble, caring human who strives for his whole audience to have the time of their life at his performances (and they do!).

HA! Only John could get a symphony orchestra to rock like this and enjoy it. Did you see the conductor's face? 🤣 ...and at 73 he can still hit those notes. It's true he didn't go to the US or the UK to "make it" he stayed right here 💖 There are a few entertainers who can take control of the stage and the audience and John is a natural 😎

John may have sung in the US with LRB and if he was perceived to be too cocky (!) whoever said that just misunderstood his quirky personality and dry sense of humour. Cocky is self assertive, conceited and arrogant and that definitely isn't John Farnham.

@@Dornie51 I so agree. John knew his talent, knew his worth, but was never demanding, conceited or arrogant. And he didn't enjoy being away from his family and home life when he toured with LRB. He built up an amazing career in Australia , did lots of charitable events, he visibly, tangibly, loves his backing singers and band mates, and he loves and appreciates his fans. He has a happy and enduring family life. Couldn't ask for much more, could you? And he shared his Voice with whoever wants to listen to it. . I am so thankful to be able to watch and listen on youtube. Yes, a JF concert is a party. . 8.1.24. UK. E❤

John is Australia’s favourite son. He can sing any genre and he is so awesome on stage, it really irks me that most reactors from the USA use the studio versions of his songs to react to instead of his live performances because they are so used of your singers sounding better that way. Most Aussie singers sound so much better live! John is a wonderful humanitarian, he is funny, he is giving of his time and huge talent to any worthy cause! He is a wonderful husband and father. His fame has not gone to his head, he is just like the bloke next door, the mate you would love to have a beer with at the pub. He treated his band and his fans like they were family and I think that he would be the only celebrity alive who would tell us all about his vasectomy on national TV! Oh and he knew how to rock leather pants! Nearly forgot that he is a rain god for his outdoor performances especially when he is doing a concert for drought stricken areas! You’re the VOICE John!

i'm one of the lucky people who grew up in the 70s n 80s with all these fantastic Aussie artists. I've seen Farnsey 17 times live, and would be first in line to buy tickets to No18 if it was up to me. Growing up with / in the Aussie pub scene, we were so spoiled - we would hit the pubs to see Jimmy Barnes, Cold Chisel, Diesel, Midnight Oil, INXS, Jon Stevens, Noiseworks, Screaming Jets, Vi Capri, Wendy Matthews, Tina Arena, Divynals, AC/DC, and many more, and be up close and personal with them all. Australia really rocked it out and it was AWESOME. Oh lordy, to be back in those days..........Keep going the Aussie rabbit hole, coz we're loving it m8 xox

I've loved John's performances since I first heard him in 1968. I could listen to him for hours. I encourage you to also listen to the late Judith Durham and The Seekers. Their music is quite a different style, but Judith's voice is very special too. She was asthmatic, but I defy anyone to notice that when she sings. Please listen to 'I am Australian'. It's incredibly moving to us, because we know our history, but I think that you would enjoy it anyway. Also try any version of 'I Still Call Australia Home', originally written and performed by the late Peter Allen

This man can sing any genre of music just put a mic in his hand and you will get an awesome performance any & every time. He can't wait to get on that stage and give the performance 150% for his fans. If you watch or have been to one of his concerts he loves shaking hands, and interacting with the crowd while belting the high notes, outstanding vocal control.

We knew we were hearing greatness - it's nice to be vindicated. Everyone on that stage had worked, studied and played hard to deserve a place in the spotlight. Put it this way, give him your shopping list to sing and it will be a hit - he can sing anything and it will be great. And I'm sure we have all told you before, but I'll tell you again just to make sure you don't forget - make sure you react to live performances when it's Farnham 😁. As you see more of him you will start to see his personality come through. This performance for example - how many rock performers have you heard say to the fans "Be careful on the roads. Oooeee! 👏That’s our John! snd fabulous backup singers, too. That would have been an encore; notice how he said “be careful on the roads.”

This is an absolutely EPIC performance, there is just SO much going on. From the band, the backing singers, the orchestra, John and of course the audience. If you don't know anything about John Farnham, you don't know anything! Well now you do know him, welcome to the club mate, I can't wait for more. Cheers!!

Thank you so much. In a totally different vein, his Amazing Grace live with Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field, his back up singers is also a pretty awesome watch. Loving your Farnsey reactions. He is the greatest!😄

Hi Michael! One of your subscribers from Down Under! So you know John can do ballads and rock and roll, how about opera? There is a great video of John together with Anthony Warlow singing Granada! It’s awesome and funny! Anthony is a trained opera singer and was in The Phantom of the Opera and several others! I think you would like this! It shows more of John’s talents! Not bad for a plumber from Melbourne who has never had any singing lessons! Hope you can sometime in the future react to this! So glad you have discovered The Voice! Peace and Blessings to you and your family from Australia.

The miracle that is John Farnham, is that he can take something that is already incredible and make it mind-blowing and impossible to replicate. Only he can do what he did with songs that he blessed with his voice. I hope he understands what a gift he is to us, and how loved he is. John is living proof that angels walk amongst us, because that voice isn't human it was heaven sent.

OMG whoever organised the music is beyond belief. Firstly the backup singers are individuals in their own right magnificent. a combination of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the band and the individual instrumentalist like the guitars, saxophone, the bagpipe, piano, violins, percussion etc is just absolutely brilliant. The arrangements, the lighting breathtaking. I reckon this is the greatest concert ever. It had it all. Real talent no BS. love from Australia

We all love John in Australia he is an absolute legend and you’ll never hear anyone say a bad thing about him!! He’s the most down to earth person you’ll ever meet! And you are bang on about your summation about todays artists!! We ❤️ john!!! I remember growing up watching this on tape as a kid this whole concert on repeat. My mum gave me a great music history growing up! So much so I struggle with much of todays music!

This is the magic of these concerts , put together the singer and his band with the classically trained orchestra add the crowd and it becomes pure magic you can see the orchestra loved being involved.

Gee, this really makes me wish ACDC had Bon, succeeded by John as their singer. Would've been amazing... John can do it all, from ballads to rock, and what a lovely person he is too... I lso agree with your points regarding the authenticity of the real voice ... the real thing - no auto-tune etc.

He loves what he does, he values everyone on that stage, and every instrument he's used. He appreciates every audience at every show, big or small. I saw him live at a small concert in rural Victoria, it rained on and off through out, I sat with a plastic bag protecting my clothes, and he put just as much effort on that stage to a crowd of a couple hundred as he did in this one. His energy is felt in every song.

You can only imagine how much the usually staid orchestra members must have felt about that little stand up and swipe section!! Everyone having a ball. John’s voice stupendous as the lead instrument. People got their money’s worth at that gig!

My favourite version of this song . Farnsy is an Australian legend and can sing anything . I would have loved to have been the one that got that kiss from him. Saw him live once , not enough times though . We love him so much here , a National Treasure .
