How wonderful to have such a great memory...a beautiful soul that gave so much...id say on a par with Elvis but unfortunately didnt get the coverage he deserved & taken way too soon...both were from very humble backgrounds, had a certain 'something' despite looking very different - they each were very much their own person & felt blessed...not the untalented divas that swan around telling anyone who'd listen how 'great' they are!! The music they performed was in their blood...transcending to another realm wen performing...SRV deserves as much respect as Elvis...the GOAT Re guitarist/performer/singer combined...😍🥰💞 Love keeps both alive xxx

His sound check is better than most peoples concerts . And a fun fact he had just woke up just a couple minutes before coming on stage. That goes to show how good he was also October 3rd was his 66th birthday .

He strapped on his guitar, yawned, picked his nose and proceeded to burn the stage down...at a freakin sound check!! Gave his all always, cause it was as natural to him as breathing! The GOAT...IMO.

Walk in, shred stuff up, walk out. RIP SRV! He is most definitely missed. I sure wish he was still around to see what else he brought to the table. You would think he couldn't get any better but man, I bet he would have. Mind blowing better.
@zackmano4 жыл бұрын
I'd say he's playing at about 70% power on the guitar, and about 40-50% on vox. He probably focused more on keeping his voice fresh for the show, like most performers do, but as far as guitar I don't think he was ever worried about running out of steam. I play his riffs and I'm done after about 30 min to an hour and my hands are too sore. And I've been playing 30 years. But he could go forever. His hands were steel. Theres a video of him on Unplugged shredding on a 12-string acoustic, which is about the hardest guitar you can possibly play for that style, and he just tears that thing apart. Gift from God. Period. 🙌💙🤘🤘🤘

When he's playing slow and basic I was more aware of things like switching octaves in the middle of a melodic phrase and those chromatic bend lines where it "seems" he's searching for the note. Of course he knows where he is and how to get to where he's going. Thanks for this.

I appreciate you, friend. I just wanna let you know that I look forward to your insights into music. I’m an old timer, a guitar player, my original influence was Jimi, but SRV brought the blues BACK into the mainstream of the rock and roll world. Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, EVH & SRV all changed the way people “used” guitars. Their influences can be heard in new music today. And yeah, I want that badass coat too.

I was so lucky to have grown up in Texas and by chance saw SRV in Austin on two occasions. I'd try to describe what it was like but I think most people get it, even from a video. Everything just flowed from him, soul, passion, expressions of every type, and sweat, all by the bucket. I ran across this video a few years back and I just wanted to thank the person who happened to bring a camera to a soundcheck. It's just amazing in every possible way. Love everyone's reaction to this video.

That opening number was his 'morning coffee' for his guitar-fingers. And he often opened shows with it because, if the audience wasn't wowed at that point, he knew he had to really kick it up several more levels. Or that this was a dead audience and he should save his efforts. But I've never seen an audience not go crazy. By the way - that slower second-number where he's working on the intense timing and tone-levels for everyone else - and even you get into the groove. Second number - during a mere sound-check. Yep... absolutely great.

Hypothetical conversation before the soundcheck by SRV: "Oh man, morning. YAWN. Soundcheck. What'll I wear? Whatever's within reach. Cowboy hat ('cause it's too early to comb my hair), black t-shirt (sniffs) -- it's OK, jeans, boots, leopard-spotted duster, and ...yeah, that's enough. It's just a soundcheck." Yawn (scratch), pick up #1, walk around, pick nose, play opening notes of the Star-Spangled Banner, walk back to center stage, floor it. Impulse warmup.
@marcduclos97893 жыл бұрын
The biggest unknown thing about SRV 's Guitars was that the strings he used. He use the most hardest strings any one used in his hay day. Eric Clapton Grand funk Ted Nugent Jeff Beck or ZZ Top didn't use more than a #4. STV used #10 so he could b end the string to make his sound. Check this out

Stevie Ray Vaughn gets up in the morning, puts on his snakeskin boots, his 10-gallon hat, and his leopard skin coat, gets in the limo and goes to the gig for sound check. Gets to the sound check, scratches his balls, farts. . Puts on guitar, yawns, picks his nose and then proceeds to DEMOLISH THE STADIUM! Plays better for a sound check than most "musicians" could ever hope to approach in their LIFETIME!!!
