I read all the fancy comments and it seems like no one really understands maritime warfare. Few considerations: 1) The British frigate was probably already being targeted by anti-ship missiles on the Iranian shore which were already locked on the target 2) The British frigate was operating in waters patrolled by Iranian submarines, so the "patrol boat" was far away from being alone there. 3) Who was alone and without support was the frigate itself, any action would have resulted in total annihilation 4) In maritime warfare size is not important. Look at what happened in WWII with the Italian Royal Navy in Alexandra, Egypt in 1941 5) For everyone making fun of their English, try to learn Farsi, and let's see what you can do **6) The Stena Impero, legally or illegally, was eventually seized so the effectiveness of the British communication was null ** I strongly suggest you watch these two videos: Iranian Underground cruise anti-ship missile base in Persian gulf shore: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5nHmKuPZpiskMk Footage of one of the recent Iranian military drills: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZ27dquuhKppeKc

@@hernerweisenberg7052 That depends on the ship. Since I'm Russian, let's imagine that was a Russian warship. @@dmitrit.4862 While russian missle technologie is pretty awesome, compared to the size of oceans, 300km could aswell be point blanc. @itspersiangulfmoron.repeat2242 3 жыл бұрын
@@dmitrit.4862 Antiship missiles are NOT designed to hit fast-moving maneuverable targets let alone that those boats cost half the price of the missile but even if the ship wanted to intercept , it couldn't locate the boat because of earth arc(the boat can't be spotted in the distances further than 30km) And of course you have to consider that if the ship's captain wanted to start an attack, they would face real life Dothraki.

Bro they are transporting cargo right across the coast of Iran, I don’t think the ship is safe either as the British are far from home. It’s not safe for both sides People should just work together to build better passages, Smh I understand why Iranian are always so tense and news about them are usually bad but you have to think about their perspective, you have superpowers just casually warships a few miles off their coast, I think any country would see that as something to worry about. Imagine you had a tank that crosses your front porch each day Again I’m not taking sides but people should just find better passages

Any ships in Persian Gulf and vicinity is setting duck for powerful Iranian precision missiles. The firepower of those ships would work against them since it would add more explosive power on top of the missiles'. That was only continuation of their 5000 years of survival as a nation. No country in the world can handle hardship more than Iran. On the other hand Brits have been around for only a few hundred years and if it wasn't for the English Channel, they would be speaking German today. Look at what happened in WWII with the Italian Royal Navy in Alexandra, Egypt in 1941 5) For everyone making fun of their English, try to learn Farsi, and let's see what you can do 6) The Stena Impero, legally or illegally, was eventually seized so the effectiveness of the British communication was null

I know I'm late, and I know you thought this all made perfect sense 1 year ago, but just in case you haven't grown up since then allow me to address these points with a more.. how to put it.. rational mindset. 1) The word probably makes the entirety of this point (how did you put it..???)null. 2)This is the same as 1 however it is interesting to see you justify the Iranians action's by there being more of them... or maybe that isn't what you are doing. 3) I think you probably should learn that this kind of makes the actions of the Iranians even worse...and dare I say provocative. 4) This is just flat untrue, I mean anyone with a brain knows this. To your 1 example there are probably 100 against. Size is definitely 'a' factor. 5) I see this all the time, you are allowed to make fun of people irrelevant of how many languages they know, but also have some compassion and understand that most of the time people just here there language fluently and so hearing someone speak it differently is obviously funny, it's called comedy. 6)So what... the tanker was seized in Oman waters, which also lends to further suspicion hey??? @@monarasouli9889 1) Against a duke class frigate that has numerous defensive systems against missile attacks and a declaration of war against Britain 2) Of which they have 4 with all being fairly outdated and needing modernisation with a warship that has anti submarine armaments in addition to having anti submarine equipped aircraft and hms duncan potentially there to support depending on various factors. 3) Very likely if they wanted to but it would cost them a fair bit to do so and would be a clear act of aggression as Britain was following international law with iran being the aggressor 4) No argument there but it does help and the UK has quite a few allies, even just sanctions would cripple them, wouldnt even need a war. 5) The agreed communication for both naval and aircraft movements is in English which is why even with foreign to foreign vessels it is still spoken in English as you will often have an English speaker on board for this purpose, this is only usually deviated from with non international vessels and is usually unprofessional. 6) Not at all, the point of the frigate was to ascertain the situation, rely it and document it which was later used to prove that they were aware that they broke international law hence Britain was allowed to sanction Iran without reprisal from other nations as they had full contact and documented proof of the events that transpired. As you can likely agree, war and conflicts are often won by the events happening behind the stage rather than just what's on it. Either way the warship was over 60 minutes away from any ability to effectively defend the cargo vessel (the antiship missiles etc) and was ordered not to, it was a tit for tat move that was better handled diplomatically, one cargo ship isn't worth engaging over.

@@thetaggman5311 no as i mentioned they have 3-4 (ones a coastal sub) effective submarines, they do have 24 midget submarines which are basically useless as they have to operate with support vessels due to their small size and have a miniscule submersion time, have a 2 round payload, using non modernised torpedos with minimal payload and sporting missiles that have had a horrible track record in lab testing let alone combat As far as Afghanistan and Vietnam while a wasted effort they weren't losses militarily, Vietnam was just expensive and a provocative war that no one really wanted to fight but it allowed the US and the UK to dump almost all of its dangerous chemicals onto them. Afghan well was effective we got access to oil, helped root out a lot of warlords too.

How long do you think Iran will last against the international firestorm that entails. So consider it. Nothing, Iran would gain absolutely nothing from blowing up a worthless Frigate.
