Thanks for the tips. For me, I deal with sensitive, acne-prone, and oily skin. I apply litelextrra rice berry vitamin c face serum in the evening. It's really good because it doesn't clog my pores. A few weeks back, I used up my first bottle of the serum. It brightened my complexion. I am getting very good results from it.

I've been using a Vitamin C serum for a year now (I'm 49) and it's definitely faded some old sunspots and acne scars. I think it's slowing down the aging of my skin, especially considering the amount of stress I've been under. I would love to see videos on a couple of topics: 1) menopausal skin care, and if menopausal supplements help the skin, and 2) face yoga; I get a lot of ads for apps like Luvly, and I wonder, can you actually exercise your face? And does it have an effect? Thank you for your videos, which explain everything from a scientific but easy-to-digest perspective!

I appreciate your videos so much, you are the first person to explain things on such a manner that I actually changed my skin care routine 2 months ago to add retinol, now I'm going to add vit C, didn't want to add everything at once. My skin is already looking better. I had to take it slow with introducing retinol, I now only started using it ever night this week. I can definitely see my skin is starting to improve a bit already. I've become very serious about sun screen the last year, using it every day, also using it for my daughter (14months) every day. I hope that I will be able to instill the good skin routines in her life as natural habits. Thank you again for these videos, I don't often comment on videos, let alone such a long comment.

I am 62 and have taken vitamin C orally (1000 mg) for decades plus eat a ton of fresh fruits and veggies daily. No fillers or other procedures. Gentle face wash, and Strivectin face cream. Most people think I am in my 40s. Folks used to think I was even way younger a few years back but I have had some serious pain, sleep and trauma issues catch up with me. Recently started using topical C and some retinols as well. I am not sure I can see the results but I certainly feel them. I also started using Olay Retinol face cream at night and feel great. P.S. I used ("keep them guessing with...") Oil of Olay until a couple of decades ago when they changed the formula and I didn't like it anymore. Switched to Strivectin.

Vitamin C: one of the ingredients I have always left out of my skin care, because my understanding was that it is so unstable that it would degrade before it got used. Unless it were in a package that would allow for neither the entry of light nor entry of air into the product. Which always sounded practically impossible.

Water degrades the efficacy of vitamin C so if it's put on a wet face, it becomes less effective. As far as your other creams, bc Vitamin C is so unstable, you want to assure your vitamin C has absorbed into your skin before applying anything else - there are so many ingredients in skincare & you don't want any to destroy your vitamin C.

i've been using a high quality 20% Vitamin C serum w/ferulic acid in it, in the morning for over a year. It has done nothing for my skin, that I can tell. I have a few tiny sun spots on my cheek; they look exactly the same, as far as I can tell. It's also done nothing for dark undereye circles. I've also been using an expensive Retinaldehyde serum lotion on my face nightly. Neither has apparently does much, if anything, for pigmentation issues like dark undereye circles and those tiny sun spots. i wear a mineral 50 UVA-UVB lotion daily and don't spend a lot of time in the sun. The Retinaldehyde lotion does seem to have made my skin better as far as thickness of skin and minor wrinkles. I'll continue with the Retinaldeyde but not buy any more Vitamin C serums, since they don't work for me. Maybe taking Vitamin C supplements would help. And maybe IPL is needed for those tiny sun spots, and retinaldehye and sunblock will help prevent them from returning. Don't know if IPL can be used for undereye dark circles.

@animalsareourangels93
@animalsareourangels93 Жыл бұрын
It will oxidize over time. How will you know? It goes from being a very clear light yellow to a darker yellow. It’s also best at least I do this to keep it in the fridge at a stable temperature. You can try Dr. karma’s Vitimin C, some like Timeless and I have been using Skinceuticals CE Ferulic. Vitamin C can come in a stabilized form meaning that it’s like a cream but most vitamin C’s are very similar to a light very very light oily substance. SkinCeuticals, CE Ferulic has so much clinical data to back it up! I hope this was helpful. Take care, Susan from Canada. PS. I always, always wear sunscreen of a 60+++ winter, summer, spring, fall. We actually don’t get a lot of sun here in Canada however I have been using sunscreen since my teens and I never ever laid in the sun.

That used to happen to me too but then I turned 50 and things started going downhill. Look after yourself well now and you should look a lot younger forever. Don't take it for granted.

I have used topical Vitamin C for about 15-20 years...from my mid to late 30's...I am 56 now...thanks for covering the topic...I love my current formula of Vit C and Ferrulic acid..I eat a whole food plant based diet as well and I get a ton of nutrients...C included..I so appreciate your videos..they are always honest, insightful and relevant to so many of us...thanks so much...also, I so agree from experience that retinoil/retinoic acid as well as sunscreen (mineral based barrier like you suggested are amazing), really since the acne days have really helped my skin to look amazing at almost 60....love that you explain things from the cellular level in the skin...thanks for breaking it down and making it simple with what is effective..

@@liamford6249 I use Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum with Ferulic acid...but there are so many out there...I do love this one and it is vegan, cruelty free, effective, in an amber glass bottle (not plastic) and it's about $30 bottle for one ounce and can be found easily in most places...

Thank you so much for this informative video. I’ve been using Vit C Ferulic Acid religiously for over a year. I can honestly say I have seen a huge difference in the brightness in my skin. My skin is so sensitive. I am unable to use retinol. I used several other serums and moisturizers. The holy grail is my zinc sunscreen. Is your Formula appropriate for sensitive skin??

What do you think about vitamin C powder? Like L Ascorbic Acid mixed into a water based serum right before application? I'm sick of paying 100-200$ for serums that go bad, oxidize so quickly so I've been using a powder for a while now.

Hi Dr Karam. Can you please share insights on tretinoin and facial hair growth. I watched Dr Dray’s video where she discusses tretinoin for hair growth. I was surprised to read so many comments of women saying they have noticed quite some peach fuzz after using tretinoin. I went down this rabbit hole and goggled this, came across many threads where women reported facial hair growth after starting tretinoin.
