Can't think of a situation that a ratcheting ring spanner wouldn't do the same job. Seems like a costly solution to a fairly uncommon issue. Bit of a con if you want the honest truth. Would be interested to see a comparison strength test between this tool and a ratcheting ring spanner. Can only imagine a ring spanner would be invariably cheaper to replace if it failed compared to one of these tools. Furthermore, as it's not a standard 1/4, 3/8, or 1/2 socket set, it's not immediately compatible with any standard attachments you'll likely have in your toolbox, such as hex bits, extension bars, knuckles, etc. Seems to me like a step backwards in terms of building an arrangement of useful tools. P.S. If you're worried about personal injury (as the video suggests), maybe buy some cheap gloves? Infinity more cost effective.

The joy of a push through ratchet is that it will allow the threaded rod to pass through the socket, rather than having to remove the spanner each time if in a confined space. If the rod has plenty of space to manoeuvre the spanner then that's fine. But the push through ratchet is a good option as well.

@@DrapertoolsLtd kzbin.info/www/bejne/on_GZa2MmM-Uabs As before, a ratcheting ring spanner does the job. These have been on the market for decades already. I have a set of the flexi-head ones. Very easy to use. Strong, lightweight, and versatile. Cost a lot less than this socket set. The only scenario I can think of where this ratchet would trump a ratcheting ring spanner would be if the threaded nut has been recessed. This in combination with a long bolt at the open end. Only then would you need a socket combined with one of these go-through ratchets. But if you think about it, you'd need one of these to begin with if that was how you had designed your recessed fixing in the first instance. And even then, what's the point in using a recessed nut in combination with a long threaded bar? Perhaps in a security setup, but even then there are easier security solutions that would be employed. Other than the situation above, a ring spanner, ratcheting ring spanner, mole grips, adjustable wrench, or plain old open end spanners would suffice. I own some Draper tools, so I'm not having a go at Draper. Other manufacturers sell similar straight through socket sets. I'm just suggesting, as these are quite pricey by comparison, unless you've got very deep pockets, I can't see why you would buy these over more available and cheaper (to buy) tools.
