Marc, genuinely thank you, I've been struggling with stiffness of characters for quiet awhile, trying to learn gesture drawings and force some fluidity, yet it would not do much. This is by far the best breakdown of things needed to be taken into an account, allowing proper understanding and comprehension of what needs to be thought of, this is the first time I am genuinely grateful for a video existing, THANK YOU!!!

How I understand it: The head(2x2 box, that’s 2 or 3 blocks high(stylization)) The details are all about proportion(eyes being the second line up, ears being near the line on the side, etc) and making sure to follow it in perspective

I love the accuracy of these poses. Excellent understanding of anatomy. I'm working on multiple art projects, as well as comics. I'm also teaching an art class as a hobby, and specifically, I'm starting human anatomy, but the basics of figure drawings with male and female. my second class was shapes and the fundamentals of shading, so that the students could understand the subtlety of symmetry, perspective, and volumes. I'm self taught so the greatest challenge is communicating what I know to a class with varying degrees of understanding on the rudiments

Hi Marc. I wanna say right now…. I didn’t know your school is roughly two years worth. I am not upset, I’m amazed by how much you are willing to teach us to become professional and capable artists. I got the course but imma start it at the beginning of next year for I have many obligations right now as well as KZbin projects that need attention. It’s not started yet but once I do, I wanna also post my progress but not reveal anything that people would ignore you. Quite the opposite, I hope by sharing my own journey, people will come to you for more lessons and even participate in your growing community. Anyways, I am excited and I am already planning stuff that will allow me to have time for each lesson. You know what they say. Love the life you want instead of dreaming it for that will never come true. You have to make it come true.

Marc, I've been doing gesture drawings and figure sketches for a while now but I've never figured out how to convey the flow line/principal axis of motion (PAoM) for a figure whose weight is evenly distributed between the two legs (such as the kneeling figure in 5:46). Based on my understanding of gesture, for poses like this, the PAoM would actually run out of the body, between the legs, into the ground, but somehow because the lower extremities are doing a lot by themselves, it doesn't feel "correct" to leave that out entirely of the PAoM. Do you have thoughts on this? Actually, the kneeling figure in 5:46 already has a lot more gesture than my usual subjects. Figures I draw of this kind are like: [a] a martial artist doing punching exercises in horse-riding stance (very stiff); [b] a dancer with a similar horse-riding stance (in this instance, usually I can convey the flow line for the upper body but draw a blank from the hip down where the energy flow splits); [c] an acrobat balancing on a wire (in [a] and [b] I would usually simplify the lower torso to a rectangular shape but in this one it's more triangular).
