Some of the best advice ive heard from other pro artists is to train your eye to see the shapes that make up drawings as opposed to overthinking about anatomy/muscle groups.
@mrhalfsaid13896 ай бұрын
Yes, if I could tell anyone trying to learn to do two things; make the mannequine shape things and to break things down into circle, square and triangle as well as accept that you will be ass at drawing for a while before you can be good, you need to practice it like you would football

This, most academic tutorials like proko, actually overcomplicate things. My mentor said to keep it simple and try to learn to use intuition.

@@MALICEM12 Proko has several videos on construction, the complicated stuff is for people already using that.

Since i like drawing stylized squids (thanks to Nintendo), i'd add something important for the last character and are the suction cups. I think i don't really notice the character it's an squid if it's not because the hat and suction cups are important. They're fron the back and not from the front compared to octopus.
@burkicle6 ай бұрын
hi! im the artist of that squid and I didn't want to make it be a squid but i wanted to make it have the silhouette of a squid so i purposefully didn't add any suction cups.

Hey folks out there, how do you overcome the frustration of trying to learn how to draw? Sorry for the lack of knowledge to express myself better. The point is, I tried so hard that I got a little traumatized by it. Every time I try to draw, I get extremely frustrated and end up having a crisis. How do you deal with this kind of situation?
@innocuousbrimstone6 ай бұрын
I feel this way when starting a new hobby that is completely out of my usual. If I didn't already start as a kid, it's so hard to get started in new things now that I'm an adult. One thing to remember is, everyone is different and will learn differently! I think consistency is key, no matter how little or how much you draw in a day, if you can just doodle here and there as much as you're willing everyday, then your body and mind will adapt to it. And once you start getting used to it, you can start drawing a little longer and draw more complex things. Copying art is also a good start as long as you just draw it in private (or if you wanna share, give credit to the original). Copying can help you get an idea how other artists draw, and once you feel more comfortable, you can dive into more technical things like anatomy and etc. Try to not think about perfectionism. This is often a major mental block for many creatives where they want to make it "perfect" but perfect is relative and ever changing. Draw what makes you happy for that moment, and move on to the next piece. Create an environment you're comfortable in and try to make that your 'drawing room'. Have music, some snacks or whatever makes you feel good and start drawing. Sometimes you gotta trick your brain with some happy hormones while you're drawing. Other then that, just don't be so hard on yourself, get a sketchbook or something where you can see keep a log of your progress, and just keep at it no matter how small the steps are.

I feel this, and I'm sure a lot of other starting artists too because we know around what point our standards are at with regards to art and we know what looks appealing, but we can't reach our standard as fast as we would like. I think breaking things down when studying could help. Say you want to be good at drawing anime style figures, so you start trying to draw one and pushing yourself to immediately be good at the whole thing, which would lead to that frustration because you don't know yet what makes those other anime illustrations look good. I think it would help break down a reference of the kind of art you like your own art to look like. Get something from your favorite artist, see how they draw faces, what parts are exaggerated, what parts are simplified, how they do colors, what are the main colors and what compliments those colors, how they do lighting, how they do composition, etc. But study these one at a time and at your own pace. Set smaller goals, instead of this vague "I want to be good at art". Ask, "How will I be good at art?" Make your goals tiny and expect to be bad at it. We're all learning. Even our favorite artists have bad days but they've put in a lot more hours of practice and work and that's what makes them better. Most art we see online are their good outputs after months maybe even years of "bad" practices, so be more patient with yourself. Everybody who tries art gets frustrated but keeping at it despite the frustrations is what will get you to improve. Stop looking at your final product that you know is not up to par yet with your standards. Study HOW you'll get there instead of forcing it. And enjoy the process of learning.
@hikariniji66686 ай бұрын
To add to others advice, it's also important to take break from learning art and draw the stuff you like from time to time. That way, art won't just be a bad memory for ya... Or smth like that.
