Just a fun fact for anyone who didn't know! Elvish from The Lord of the Rings is called Sindarin! It's a fully fleshed out language made by Tolkien. Years before he wrote the series, he was a linguist first. He created several languages over the course of his life. Nowadays we call this conlanging. I'm a little dusty on my Furby Lore, but everything Julia said is correct. Sure, Furbies lived on A-loh May-lah, but it's speculated that they actually may have come from space, as shown by concept art of the first gen Furbies. Also they have to bond with a complex species to reach maturity and become an elder, which are even more powerful than the standard young Furby, which is already capable of prophecy and telekinesis.

I think between that and the Cookie Monster hand puppet that mom used to scare us with, my fear of dolls and puppets is warranted. I had 2 furbies as a kid and both of them met a grizzly end The first was all pink and it’s name was babybutt (I was 5 don’t judge) and I loved it I was super into the talking toy scene as a kid and furbies were my jam, babybutt met her untimely demise when my dog mistook it for an actual small singing animal and he mauled her to pieces and I was devastated The second was blue and purple and was named taco boy (again these were named by a child) taco boy was unfortunately killed when he was accidentally run over by my dads car

Jacob putting his furby in the freezer reminded me of a repressed memory I had of when our smoke detector broke and wouldn’t stop and my mom got so frustrated with it that she started crying and threw it in the freezer, and it was in there for like a whole year until we threw it out and got a new one

When I was little (like 4 or something) I remember going to one of my mom’s friends grandma’s house to help with something or pick something up (I can’t remember exactly why we were there). And this old lady had a furby COLLECTION. I was astonished. Furbys have always freaked me out in this unknown visceral way but they have also always intrigued me. And because I was like, 4 or something, I wanted to play with them. But they were like, special furbys or somethin (Or that’s what my mom told me so I wouldn’t touch them) but they all looked customized. Like they’d been refurbished or something with special fur and stuff? I don’t know how to explain it but this old woman told me about them (she might have had dementia I don’t know) & I was fascinated but also a little freaked out. & they all had names and personalities. The visit was maybe 10 minutes at most and I was so young I barely remember this but this video dug it up from the depths of my memory. But I distinctly remember pressing on this black furby’s tongue. Also Karina and Jacob saying “Noola” at 36:25 made me laugh ridiculously hard
