Thank you. Unfortunately with pastels there isn't really a cheaper beginner friendly stuff. I would say get some pastelmat and maybe start with a set of the Stabilo carbothellos as they're pigmented, have a good range and work well with others

I've never used pastel pencils and I'm thinking of switching to them as I was getting frustrated with regular colored pencils (lack of pigment, difficulty of blending, high price) Do you think it's a good idea or should I invest in a pricey wax/oil pencils set?

Pastels are pretty expensive and they require expensive special papers so you won’t be saving money switching to pastels from pencils however I LOVE pastels the pigments are incredible the blending is incredible and once you master the techniques it’s awesome
