Like I remember researching it because it was a special interest of mine because I loved the creature's design and I clearly remember it being proven that not only does the creature *not* look like a reindeer in the og folklore (which had me very disappointed because I thought it was cool) but also invoking its name being a very recent addition to the myth? Like they're supposed to look like blue emaciated undead and were a warning to not eat each other in very harsh winters (because that's how you become one). Is this a case of the myth being "swallowed" by another religion and them being like "you can't say that word because bad stuff will happen" as a way to erase any trace of it? Is it just that it was switched around? Is it a regional thing where in some parts it was the case but others it wasn't? The only contact I've had with people that knew of it and tried to push that rule were non-native (or the classic "1%" native that has never had any contact with the culture) or very pushy with making others follow their religion in a "you'll make everyone go to hell if you're gay" way... Edit: I researched some more and both the Canadian Encyclopedia and Wikipedia make no mention of this. It mentions it representing greedy and power hungry people more than some ancient curse that will happen if you say its name, so now I'm wondering if greedy and power hungry people just made up that rule to protect themselves like with the "Eye of the needle" monument...

Just wanted to clarify for the OFF segment of the conversation and specifically about the composer (Alias Conrad Coldwood) not coming back. Someone apparently managed to message them recently and they basically said that they don't feel like their work is suited for a payed version of the game. As they said the original music had a lot of samples in them and were very much made for a free product and never for a monetized thing, they also expressed that they don't have time to work on the music for the game thus won't be returning for it. On the bright side it has been told that the Fangamer team who reached out to them with the proposition to come back have been very nice to him so it seems like its not because of bad blood. Just wanted to explain that.
