Travis Charest. One of the most underrated illustrators ever. The guy is amazing. He really doesn't get enough recognition, when some get too much...
@정현우-d8k9g7 жыл бұрын
he is at least several times more talented than dc's superstars such as jim lee and ivan reis. i think him and adi granov and alex ross have the greater perfection in fine art than whoever else in comic book art ground.

Lee and Travis are my all-time favorites. I think even Travis was a huge fan of Lee as you could see in Travis's early works before he found his own style. I wish Travis would do drawing streams on Twitch like Lee is starting to. Would be amazing to see more of his works and maybe hear his thoughts on his process.

I love watching artist draw. to me it's usually better than any tutorial because the artist is speaking threw the drawing. That hole picture worth a thousand words? yeah. That's pretty much it.

I somewhat have to agree. I admire more the levels of knowledge of the anatomy of someone like John Buscema more than the execution of the same techniques. You can tell which artist has more experience with the foundations of drawing and anatomy over the artist who rely more on style itself and gimmicks of technique. Buscema and Kubert, among some on this series, are more skilled and talented than some of the others. You can tell because all of the artists draw the same things.

Man that looks good , I've got to try using some off white paper like that. The white pencil looks so cool. The Superman was ideal.

I agree. These guys weren't just born with that skill level, not all people realize you have to draw your ass off every day and always challenge yourself to grow into that kind of art level.

That Fountain Pentel that Dave used is an amazing marker...don't think they make them anymore though. Anyone know?
@Artisan197916 жыл бұрын
This was Dave's redesign of Green Lantern for the series of one-shot books Stan Lee did with DC Comics' Superheroes. It gave artists a chance to break away from continuity and tackle these characters from a perspective never attempted. Like GL here is now an elemental guardian of the Earth.

Travis Charest...how do you describe his abilities? Otherworldly, superhuman...It's hard to put into words. He really is capable of some of the most strikingly unique, incredible artwork I've ever seen produced in any medium. I wish he did more actual comic book work or would at least continue to publish new sketchbooks/artbooks so we could get some of the magic in print. Great stuff!

Travis' Superman looks incredible. He looks like a MAN while still retaining quite a youthful look. That's what Superman should look like. The hair was spot on and the moon looked incredible. The lighting was masterful too. The only problem is the "S" shield is awkward. Awesome drawings!

Thank you for posting these videos. It's so cool to see someone who's great at what they do, and to think of all the work involved in creating all the art that goes into a "simple" comic. If you want some examples of "live action" super powers, feel free to click on my screen name to the left (Marknew91) and look at the short uploaded clips (I play RPGs so seeing superpowers is helpful). It'd be cool to think one of my silly 1970s TV clips heled inspire an artist!
