Absolutely brilliant, sir!! I'm so intrigued at your 'shape find' method. I have nothing to lose by applying it to my works, which too often just misses that hallowed perfect capture. I'm glad to have discovered your works.

Amazing, inspiring and helpful. Think I'm gonna start training this 'visual shape method'

First I want to thank you for shedding more light on the path of portrait painting. This video is 12.26 minutes long, My question is, How long normally does it take to draw this portrait in the same medium ?

I love your portraits! I have noticed only one other artist start the block-in process with the pan pastel and trowel tool (David Kassan, another talented artist). Where did you get the idea to do this? Because I think it's brilliant, and have started to try to incorporate this method in my own drawings.

Love it, left handed too!

youtube comments are hilarious ... especially such as 'wow, he did this with his left hand!' ... I guess cuz everyone knows left hands are useless! lol! Agree with Kevin Cummings below, your method of finding certain standard shapes, and of taking a certain single shape and moving it around just with your imagination to measure areas is unique among art tutorials on the web (in my experience). Bravo!

What is it that you use at the beginning to get the tone down? Very nice work by the way Jeff.

I must say that you almost lost me because in the first 8-10 minutes it looked like you were drawing the model 15 years younger. The detail is where the realism came in, and you added the beautiful flaws or imperfections that make her the woman that she is. Bravo. Well done.

I like your instructions, but there were parts of your video where the music muffled your voice a bit.

Left-handed and one of the few artists I've seen who uses right brain methods as opposed to guideline proportions and loomis methods and bllaaahhhh blaaahhhh. The irony is strong in this one.

Excellent drawing, however, the music was loud and gave me a head ache.

I don’t think Jeff is left handed....I think they played the film the wrong way round.
