Hello Koosje- this is my first time commenting but you have inspired me for years. I love how you make drawing fun, without any pressure, and also embrace mistakes. I just had a lightbulb 💡 moment in connection to your saying “everything is interesting when you draw it”. I think right before I draw my subject something very useful to think is “what are the most interesting parts of this subject?” weather it’s the color of a certain part, or detail that I enjoy , or the way the shape is ,etc etc. thank you so much for all that you do 😍🙏🏽

Each brush pen is so different it’s like they are almost different tools one to the next. Brush markers and brush tip markers like the pentel brush pen can be finicky to use with a big learning curve but there are so many brush pens with a more controllable nib by, for example, tombow and kuretake etc. Finding the best one for your hand is really key and trying them all is great fun!

I bought the book! I admit I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I do. Another book on drawing, yes and so much more! I feel you’re talking right to me & giving me the encouragement to draw with so much more freedom (& much less emphasis on making a perfect video worthy sketchbook). For the feeling of brushpen and marker-y I like using Faber Castell’s Goldfaber Aqua markers - they are like Tombow but have bit better nib and water solubility. I was drawing along with you now, thank you!
