@@AKindOfDog Yeah, but the otherwise conclusion, I thought, really just was a personal opinion. I can ascribe to any of these characters that they like apples but that doesn't mean I can praise the artist for including apple-lovers in this instance even if they frequently do apple-loving characters. "They" could also be easily used for any gender too, but my question was based on my misunderstanding that they decided a trait and then claimed it to be true without any indication of it. Turns out there was an indication. I just didn't want to preface my short question with an explanation that real people can do whatever they want with gender.

It's the lack of a face, and the immovability of the character contrasted with the dynamic angles, I think, that makes Julia's last so unsettling. Kinda like seeing an old early XXth century picture of a crowd moving all in one direction, lots of detail and life, and then suddenly finding some guy who's standing still somehow looking directly at the camera with a blank expression. Nathan's is actually lowkey amazing like, without context I feel like I could write a full length college essay on how his render represents cycles of existence, the sunset of one species leads to the dawning of another, allusions to the poem Ozymandias and the fall of the "King of Dinosaurs," and then you listen to Nathan himself talking about it and he's just like "it's just a little guy!" and then I feel silly for assigning all this meaning to a cool drawing of a dinosaur.

Eh. Art is, in part, what we take from it. There's a song I love that I took my current name from thats about a theoretical physicist. They didn't mean to inspire hope in me by talking about endless possibilities but it brings me joy in that way because it sounded like it was talking to me directly. Don't feel like you need to be held back by anything, pouring your heart into your personal analysis is part of enjoying art!

Nathan's absolutely beautiful piece with revolutionary themes that utilizes fantastic storytelling to explore the under-appreciated non dinosaur life from prehistory appealed to me on so many levels.
