Hey Jim, great video! Little Martha is adorable! :* :) Just one little tip from an artist to another artist: You always want to start with the head (a woman's head is around 25 cm, so less then an inch) and with the neck, and then again - measuring everything before the actual drawing. You can also make a quick sketch, after the measuring, just to mark the nose, the eyes, the lips, the chin etc. And also, while measuring - use your pencil, not a ruler. And last, and the more important, the shadows - it goes brightest light, darkest shadow and always after the shadow you have a little transition, so it really looks like a real person. Always the brightest light and darkest shadow are next to each other. And when you're building the shadow - always keep your eyes almost close, so you can see better the shadows. When your eyes get tired - look at the most far point, you can see through the window. And after every little step (after sketching the head and the neck, after finding the bridge of the nose, the end of the nose, the points of the lips...) make sure to check your work from some distance. It helps to see if you're on the right way. :) I really hope my tip is helpful, although - great work, keep going! :)

It really depends on what you want to draw. Personally, I don't like to use them. I find it more difficult to get something symmetrical, like a face. But I think you should try it out. It helps a lot of people after all :-)
