Why do Breast Implants Cause Breast Implant Illness Symptoms? Breast implant illness is not to do with the brand or type of implant that you have. Breast implant illness occurs in all brands and both saline and silicone implants and is a very multifaceted illness. For both saline and silicone breast implants a strong and immediate response to the silicone shell directly after implantation may be predicated by your genes specifically HLA B27, HLA DR52 and HLA DR53 which are genes associated with being ill in the first year after implantation and a higher sensitivity to silicone. Even if you don’t have these specific genes your body will still respond to the fact that breast implants are large foreign objects implanted in your chest over fragile organs and glands which prompt a foreign body immune response as your body mounts a battle against the implants causing immune cell deficits and eventually autoimmune symptoms and diseases. Immune cell deficits allow various infections to thrive in us which can be either bacterial, viral, fungal or parastical in nature and cause many of our symptoms. Next, the array of toxic chemicals and heavy metals in silicone which are known endocrine disruptors, inflammatory, carcinogenic, cytotoxic and neurotoxic poison our fragile endocrine gland system, our immune system, our gut health and create toxicity in our organs and glands. With saline breast implants there is also the added element that many of the saline ports collect blood and tissue which can mold and these fungal organisms can cross from the implant fill valve directly into the implant and colonize the inside of the implant. Mold organisms produce metabolites know as biotoxins which are very toxic to us. The interior of all capsules is a perfect place for infections to grow and the inside of capsules necrotize over time. Textures add another layer of toxicity as they soak up body fluids and provide a perfect space for microorganisms to reside. Textures also flake off and are carried away by immune cells to lymph and aggravate the lymphatic system perhaps even causing cancer of lymph and immune system. Many of us also have pathogens or parasites in our gut due to bad gut health and even past our gut as they cross the gut barrier due to leaky gut and because there is little immune opposition to them due to immune deficits. Due to poor gut health we cannot digest our foods and are depleted of many necessary nutrients and due to autoimmune processes our guts and bodies are full of inflammation.

@michaelh50553 жыл бұрын
@@imeldavaldez6122 If they are causing problems, then something needs to be done. But I wonder how many people are actually suffering because of the material of the implant itself? How many women who claim implant illness are really just suffering from symptoms of simply getting older? Around 35-40, many women start declining in hormones and thyroid function. This alone has almost the same symptoms as people who claim implant illness. Women with thyroid issues suffer anxiety, depression, panic attacks, aches/pains, food intolerance, digestive issues, brain fog, and reduced energy. A lot of women also push for the largest implants they can talk the surgeon into. They have A cups and weigh 115lbs wet. They find some surgeon who implants 600cc ultra high profile silicone implants that turns them into a triple D. All that pressure strains breathing, pinches nerves, and cuts blood flow. Then they claim implant illness. I am not saying implants can't and don't make you sick. I do believe that some bodies simply reject them. I however think it's a very tiny percentage and not in the tens of thousands. I believe if each case were closely examined, it would show that they did not have implant illness. They had other medical conditions, oversized implants, or some other factor.

There is also this breast implant illness that appears to be an autoimmune disease that is new and linked to breast implants...you are welcome!

There have been numerous studies on the safety and efficacy of silicone breast implants. The FDA has approved them to be safe and breast augmentation is the most common cosmetic surgical procedure performed in the United States every year. Implants are much different than they used to be with rigorous testing and cohesive gel. I can't tell you how happy my breast augmentation patients have been with their implants.
@deirdra69905 жыл бұрын
There is absolutely a link between anaplastic large cell lymphoma and implants (textured.). The fda has already recalled all BIOCELL textured breast implants due to this risk. This includes all Natrelle silicone and saline implants. Not sure why you would say it’s not true. There are a small number of cases but the connection is there.

I’m scheduled for a reduction revision and abdominoplasty w/MR in 25 days hoping to reduce some of those original surgical scars on my breasts and get some of the fullness back in my cleavage area. Looks like silicone implants moderate profile plus is what you’d recommend right? I know it’s hard to suggest something without a physical consultation. (27 year ICU RN here). Keep up the good work.
@barrettplasticsurgery3 жыл бұрын
Breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements. Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match. Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.

Great video that I have watched several times in my research of the perfect implants. However, I wish you would’ve inserted some pics of patients with each set of implants while you spoke on each pair so we could get an idea of the look of each in the body (even though it varies depending on amount of breast tissue the patient had to begin with). I have 2 questions. 1 what do you think of the news on the textured implants now of cancer (I know you touched on the cancer topic in ur video) being directly connected with them? I saw a video with a woman who had Saline implants for 8 years 600cc who started at an A cup. Her breast had that new look to them as opposed to that starting to sag & drop a little look that I see both large real & fake breast get. She said they felt light not heavy at all bc they aren’t heavy like silicone breast implants are. Is that true? I thought 600cc or whatever amount of cc’s was the same weight either way. Is 1 type heavier than the other? I was a 32 DDD b4 kids, now 7 months after my 2nd child I’m a 38 D. I went down to a 34 about a year & a half after my 1st child. Will I have enough fat to pull off 600-700cc implants that are not gummy without the ripple effects showing? Would gummy’s still be better? I like that high fake look that never drops but I definitely don’t want a hard feel to them. What should I do? Thanks for your videos!

It would be a little tough because everyone's breast are shape differently and will be shaped differently. So if we screen shot it or pull it up later saying this is what we want, realistically it wouldn't look 100%. Always schedule for a consultation with your surgeon :)

I don't think there's anything wrong with having breast implants, I mean, I had them. The problem I see is, as patients we are seldom informed of the risks. If I'd known smooth implants were much safer than textured I would of had those. As it is, I have breast implant associated anaplastic lymphoma from Eurosilicone textured implants. If I'd been told I could get lymphoma from those things I would never of had them put in my body. I would of still had implants but I would of chosen smooth. I also don't like the cover-up of just how many women get BIA-ALCL but I guess money dictates who knows what. I know of 9 women in the UK alone that were diagnosed with this last year and just over a month into the new year, there are 3 more and these are women who were lucky enough to have enbloc surgery. Some of those who have explanted without enbloc are probably walking around like ticking time bombs and their eventual diagnosis of advanced and aggressive lymphoma will never be attributed to the breast implants they had removed.
@barrettplasticsurgery4 жыл бұрын
you are right. Every patient should have a discussion with plastic surgeon regarding the possible risks of complications. There are probably hundreds of women with BIA-ALCL, however there are millions of other which don't have any symptoms so the percentage is very very low. But an honest discussion prior to surgery is a must

I've been researching breast implant surgery for awhile and I'm worried about them busting or moving. What are the percentage rates of silicone vs saline busting open? And what can cause an implant to flip or rotate? And can it be avoided by not doing certain things? Also, if a silicone were to bust would it make me really sick?
@barrettplasticsurgery5 жыл бұрын
Hi, implants have a really strong capsule which prevents their rupture so the rates of implant rupture are really low. Implant pocket dissection is the key to prevent unwanted implant movement or flipping. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Miss, there can be so many problems with implants that no dr is going to tell u because, hey they r selling u a surgery. The things they don’t tell you are that the silicone being in your body can cause you to have an auto immune disease. Once you get implants, your insurance company is not going to cover any type of problems or surgeries related to future issues with them . They are considered a cosmetic procedure so they’re not going to be covered unless it’s a reconstructive procedure, nor are any problems related to them such as encapsulation, which occurs quite often where your breast will get hard because it is walling off a foreign body with scar tissue. I cannot impress upon people enough to not have implants. When you’re older, having that extra weight on your chest is going to be very annoying. How do I know this? Because at the age of 24 I had implants and at the age of 29I had them removed. I am now 62 and so glad I do not have those odd feeling things on my chest anymore. Were implants an ego boost for me? Yes, they definitely helped my self-confidence but that was during a short period of time in my life when I was trying to catch a husband. Looking back I have to ask what type of husband would only judge someone by the size of their boobs? Not one that I would really even want I was married when I had my implants removed, still married to the same man 32 years later. We talk about girl power, and how women are so great but yet we feel like we need to do this crazy stuff to our bodies to attract men. We’re literally contradicting ourselves. Be happy with your own body.

You forgot to mention a few things: 1. Implants need to be replaced every 7-10 years of your life. Consider the cost. 2. FDA recommends routine breast MRI’s to detect possible ruptures-starting after 3rd year and then every second year thereafter. Insurance doesn’t cover this so consider that cost! 3. Any complications of surgery that require additional surgery is on your dime. (capsular contracture, bleeding) Capsular contracture is quite common and is more likely in smooth implants rather than textured. 4. Breast Implant Illness (research it-it’s real and devastating). Cost of a needed en bloc explantation is more costly than implantation. Hard to find properly trained surgeons in this technique and often there is a yearlong wait time to schedule such a surgery. You may have to travel out of town for this and thus have an even greater expense/inconvenience. 5. FDA linked a new cancer related to implants -particularly textured ones. Though rare, it should be made known to prospective patients. Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. All patients should be made aware of these things before deciding on implantation

@barrettplasticsurgery5 жыл бұрын
Dear Meli, 100 cc is pretty significant difference in size. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

Dr, this fri i am having revision of my previous implants that are saline/high pro-totally bottomed out just like you said. Lift is also being done. Dr is using moderate but smooth...I dont understand why he is choosing smooth over the textured. I do however have thin skin and natural breast tissue is about a B. What reasons would there be to use a smooth over a textured in this case? I would ask him but i dont see him again until fri.
@whitesox40793 жыл бұрын
It is the Cost of it.. No one cares about texture. And the only way you can see Ripple on saline is if the woman has very thin breast skin. But naturally your skin stretches . Unfortunately , some women just do not have enough Breast skin to stretch. And do not believe the Dr.s when they say you have to switch the bags out every ten years. My cousin has Saline implants for 21yrs and they are STILL going strong and look and Feel Real.
