Everyone has their own opinion. This is my personal favorite guitar player. His phrasing is .......He's just my favorite guitar player of all time. (Yes I now that's saying a lot) Just saw him do a Coltrane song live and my jaw was dropped for 15 minutes. Incredible musician.

We learned from the Austin news on December 27th that Bill Maddox was killed in his home. It is tragic for his wife and family, and for the Austin, Tx music community. Bill was an amazing talent but an even more amazing person. God bless you. We will miss you, but never forget you.

YES!!! I always loved that little part. It makes the solo really stand out. He does something like that at the end of the middle solo to Cliffs Of Dover.

I love his voice. I never noticed how special it was until now. As for his guitar, it goes without saying...

cool arpeggio riff on 4:30 gotta love the use of different substitute tonalities in this guys playing
@McMinnManiac17 жыл бұрын
Great use of wide intervals . This is how a Strat should sound . I feel like i've Tuned in to a Pirate radio station , and am hearing someones take of how music should sound , on this planet . He's just Ripping on this in the second verse he hits a pedal and gets a chimey sound , kind of like a piano sound his chord voicings are a trip .

I actually heard him make a mistake, even the best guitar players can still flub it it up once in a while but most people would miss it anyway because he also knows how to fix it quick, anyways love his style and picking In other videos he sounds like he likes to use the diminished scale a lot, I love to use that scale but it must be used correctly at the right time if you know what I mean, great video thanks
@TomMilleyMusic12 жыл бұрын
i dunno, but a lot of times whoever is editing the video will put different parts together that might not exactly match whats being done. the hendrix woodstock video has a bunch of this and may just be due to lack of footage. but in this i'm not sure.

I'm so proud. He plays it exactly like I taught him! I love him, but sometimes I wish he had a more powerful voice, a la Clapton, Bonamassa, et al.
@denniseking71616 жыл бұрын
You taught Eric Johnson to play.. I take tit hem your an Austin Boy.. Because I'm an Austin Boy.. Excuse me for saying but I find your claim quite unbelievable... Also please don't compare Eric to Joe Bonnamassa if you knew what you were talking about you wouldn't make. such ridiculous comparisons..

@kilipeti15 жыл бұрын
Why? he plays blues-rock and blues-metal. He can play blues, just not the real, light blues. Search for his Made of Tears 2006 video, he has really great impros there.
@9erMatthew14 жыл бұрын
@977eli Well he doesn't have the line-up here that I think everyone is used to. I think people would recognize the line-up better had Kyle Brock and Tommy Taylor been a part of it.
@richardoini15 жыл бұрын
i was worried about someone saying that. i can do most artists by ear, but ej is much tougher.
@977eli14 жыл бұрын
Couldn't help but realize that no one else gives the other band members any credit. Come on guys, not very nice.
@richardoini15 жыл бұрын
You are dead on about that. his speed combine with odd tunings, let alone odd chords make it harder than hell. never heard of the software. where can i get? i learn well from paper, its pretty much mandatory when your in uni, hahaha.

Lots of stuff in minor7 scales, does that make it blues? Don't know & don't care. Riff at 5:58 is wicked....
