I wore a Libre glucose monitor for 2 weeks on keto diet Averaged 4,2 to 5,2.( 75 to 90)to Hardly went up after keto meals. Had a huge carb meal as an experiment maxed at 5,6 (100). Then one morning after eating nothing I had an acute stress situation (lasted a few minutes nearly lost someone under an aesthetic while operating) Glucose shot up to 6,5 (120) and stayed there for 2 to3 hours. Was an eye opener for me what stress can do.

I have two businesses. One is stressful and the other is fun. I've also been keto for 3 years. I stall a lot. I have noticed that when I take less time from my stressful business that I do seem to lose more weight. The problem is, I need that business still until the other grows. it's all so frustrating and I don't know how to fix it without leaving the first biz.

Went to my doctor and he was freaking out over my high cholesterol ( 300+) and informed me I am a high risk for having a stroke or heart attack anytime and wanted to put me on cholesterol meds. I asked him what was the HDL and LDL levels, but he said "it doesn't matter, it's combined over 300." In the past few years I've dropped 70 pounds on a KETO OMAD 75/25 meat/veg lifestyle. My Blood pressure at the doctors was literally 120/70, Hemoglobin A1C was 5.4 and my Triglycerides were 45. I left the office more worried, stressed and anxious than when I arrived.

You’re probably still insulin resistant and, in am, liver releases glucagon due to cortisol going up which raises BS. It took me over 2 years to get the morning fasting blood sugar below 95. Stay with it. It will get better. Do you do any fasting? That helps and the other thing that helps is a 15-20 minute brisk walk in the am. It’s important to get that number below 95 and mine always goes below 85-90 after I walk.

Can valid tests be possible while I am completing yet another round of prednisone to treat chronic gout? Docs have thrown in Allopurinol simultaneously to reduce uric acid. My daily glucose tests are all over the map! Mostly just above 100, yesterday 255. I am on Keto diet, have been all year. Cant get out off this vicious cycle.

I was wondering if, in line with testing, what the difference is between interstitial blood glucose readings and actual blood glucose readings with a finger prick?
@markiangooley
@markiangooley 2 жыл бұрын
In my experience (several years using Freestyle Libre, type 1 diabetic since 1970) the values are broadly similar. Interstitial lags finger stick by a few minutes to an hour. Often in my case the Libre value is 20 mg/dl lower than a finger stick even when they’re both level over an hour or two - but not always. Just my own experience. I can’t say in general.
@Malcolm-Achtman
@Malcolm-Achtman 2 жыл бұрын
@@markiangooley I've never used a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) but if I did I would be more interested in seeing how steady or how variable my values are throughout the day (and even through the night). Trying to correlate it to fingerstick measurements is tricky and frustrating, from what I understand.

Watched Dr Cywes in his presentation from a few days ago at the LCHF SAN Diego conference . Interesting stuff -- But , for a doctor prominent in the obesity space he has one glaring fault or at least one area that must be somewhat embarrassing for him . He has a pretty big GUT .. visceral fat to spare by the look . Perhaps explains the camera angles here . Sorry Robert - you need help .
