I made a mistake because I was misled. I have discovered the scientific truth and in this video we share the truth about 3 omega fatty acids, DHA requirement and fish oil. I correct the recommendation of what is necessary based upon scientific evidence. We also provide some of the easy to understand science your doctor may be ignoring. Help them to know the scientific truth about how your body works.

Oddly enough, "Dr." Berg, a scientologist AND a chiropracter, has the most firmly research-based take on fish consumption, regarding mercury, that I have seen on KZbin... and, I am able to be aware that this is the case because of my non-KZbin "research" into the clinical (on white lab rats, anyway) research... which, surprise surprise, the EPA has used to establish its consumption recommendations for various fish (instead of kow-towing to the seafood industry, such as it is). And, I have done enough "research" to suspect that Dr. Gundry, despite being an accomplished heart surgeon and a "real" doctor, is trying to fool himself or his prospective KZbin "customers", when he warns, in a video, against taking too many Brazil Nuts, and implies that he has consistently seen the selenium overload results in his clinic... cuz the dirty little secret about Brazil Nuts, as best can be google-gleaned, is that almost all of them these days come from the industrial growing region in Bolivia, which does not have the apparently-uniquely-low sulfur soil of their native Amazon, which supposedly caused 'em to uptake selenium instead of sulfur for a process there... wherefrom they were originally measured to have strong amounts of selenium... but, which the Bolivian industrial grown ones have been measured (which hasn't been very publicized, obviously) to run more towards one twentieth as much of... and, as such, should not be relied on to have enough - let alone too much - selenium. Fortunately there is a controlled-dosage capsule form of "dietary"/organic selenium available these days... should one know what it can allow you to get away with, when it comes to eating truly well. Speaking of which, Dr. Cywes, given that he is in Flarda, should learn that Mahi/Dorado/Dolphin, although it is low in mercury, since it grows like a crane bird [fastest of the fish], giving mercury less time-per-pound to accumulate... is also low in fat content... so he'd be better off in that regard eating the local Blackfin Tuna, which are gonna have significantly more DHA... but which (unlike Yellowfin Tuna of the same size) are gonna give you significantly more mercury than selenium... if one doesn't strategically self-supplement, in a safe amount. However, if Dr. Cywes reads this, I would guess that he can be counted on to do the research and figure out what I am on about. (Not gonna give it away!)

This guy suggested relying on ALA conversions, which the human body converts very little of into EPA and especially DHA, and fish oil supplements, nearly all of which are sold rancid and break down into oxalates in the human body. He suggested 1000mg of this crap a day. Now suggesting lots of fish, which unfortunately due to chemical plants and coal power plants have increasingly higher amounts of heavy metals can no longer be recommended as much as they used to be. Stop taking fish and krill oil supplements, you also don't need fish at all, flesh and fat of large ruminant animals grazing their natural food sources are more than enough to cover your Omega-3's, e.g Grass-Fed cows. Correcting his earlier mistakes with even more mistakes.

I gave up fish oil awhile back and now eat 5 to 7 days a week wild caught cold water fatty fish such as sardines, herring , markerel or muscles. I eat the fish with my eggs for breakfast. Absolutely delicious. Occasionally if I can get wild caught salmon I'll have salmon. If for some reason I miss my fish I will take fish oil. As a child I grew up on sardines. So what I do is to get fish oil which give the healthy fats while removing the proteins that trigger gout. I'll just make sure that the supplements I take are high on DHA. I went directly to my freezer and threw away about $200 worth of DHA supps. I will gladly take your new advice today, but I am nervous about oils because of their potential for being rancid. Also, from all that I have read on this subject Omega 3 supps should be kept in the freezer or refrigerator.

In my late 40s I had terrible brain fog and started to forget things and what I'd said to people. At first, I assumed it was a sign of early menopause. It got so bad that one day I couldn't find my keys to get into my house. I ended up breaking in. I found the keys the next day. Where I'd put them. Looking back, I also had many signs of insulin resistance but didn't understand back then. I was on a 'healthy' low fat, high fruit, veg, beans and whole grains plant based diet. When my dentist diagnosed severe gum disease, I discovered Weston A Price and fell down the low carb rabbit hole. Within weeks of going animal based low carb, I got my brain back. 2 years on and I won't eat any other way. Show your wife this video by a GP treating her own husband. Once she understand she has 'diabetes of the brain', and she is basically starving her brain to death, the penny may drop. Good luck. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp3ZlpKbmpdgqtk

I’ve been following various experts over the years and Dr. William Davis is one who certainly feels krill oil is a poor choice. He did a post on his blog in May 2013 and wrote: “The phospholipid form of DHA found in krill is also well absorbed, but occurs in such small quantities that it is not a practical means of obtaining omega-3 fatty acids…” He also makes a point that the triglyceride form of DHA, the form found in fish, is what you want to look for in a capsule. Many formulations in capsules use an ethyl ester form of DHA, which is 3 times inferior when it comes to absorption.

Thanks so much, Dr. Cywes. When I hear a doctor I already trust say he's made a mistake and wants to correct it, it only makes me trust them more! I KNEW you were a man of integrity from the get-go, but now, this just confirms it!😍 OTOH, I don't trust most of my docs, or my grown daughter's docs, so this video was very timely for me. My daughter just started my 6-month-old grandson on DHA pills recommended by her pediatrician, and I was about to try to convince her he was mistaken! I guess she's found a doctor who is actually up-to-date with his knowledge, which is tremendously reassuring! She eats keto, btw, and is starting my grandson on meat as well, but not entirely carnivore! I wish you would do a video on how & what to feed infants when they are ready for real food, & esp the how's & why's of raising children on a carnivore diet as well. Anyway, thanks so much again for your timely, helpful video. Your maturity & integrity, as well as your knowledge & generosity, are much appreciated!

WOW!! This is a doctor you can trust!! I haven't come across one of those in a very long time! In fact, I'm 73 years old and I've not seen a doctor in at least 30 years! When I learned about nutrition in my very early teens, I compared what I knew to what physicians know, I dropped them altogether and learned to keep myself healthy. I've been on the ketogenic diet since BEFORE it became popular and just in the past year have been on the carnivore diet. I am able to do everything that folks my age can't do. In fact, I can still turn multiple cartwheels in a row as I did as a teenager. I LOVE THIS DOCTOR! Maybe I'll go back to seeing doctors if they all learn the basics of life as he has done. Kudos to Dr. Cywes!!

Thank you for the correction. It strengthens your integrity. I had learned from other keto docs that krill oil was inadequate. As excellent as Dr. Cywes is and other keto docs are, I have to watch 6 or more of them to get a full picture, including the chiropractic keto docs. And just as Dr. Cywes has to keep learning, I know I have to keep learning too. Along with a cut of beef, I eat fish every day, choosing from a selection of frozen salmon, canned salmon, canned sardines, and canned cod livers. So far, so good.

I am happy to get this advice. My fish oil comes via the VA and has 144 mg of DHA. I currently take 2 1000 mg capsules of fish oil, so...I will now order the NOW DHA to go along with the fishoil. I do eat fish also, mostly salmon or tuna, sometimes cod.

I thought Krill Oil supplements are supposed to cross the blood-brain barrier much more efficiently and so that's why it's ok if it has far less DHA/EPA because your brain gets to use it immediately.. So this may require some further looking into....But honestly I'm happy to hear this information, cause those supplements are NOT CHEAP! I wanna know I'm getting something really effective. Thanks so much for your help! ❤️

So in summary - the important number for omega 3 is not how much oil or omega three but how much DHA and (to a degree) EPA. When I buy supplements I calcuate the price per capsule vs the amount of dha and epa.

I eat canned sardines and stopped supplementing DR, another thing I came across is Vit A toxicity ( krill oil has high vitamin A)and having cholestitis I don't metabolize toxins or Vit A well and I am more mindful of high Vit A foods now. Please will you make a video on Vit A toxicity? When I used to eat liver I would start to feel unwell and that's when I started digging and found out.

The brand you mention - source is Peru, Morocco and CHINA? Nope. Love you, Doc. China is a deal-breaker for me on so many fronts not least the lack of any kind of acceptable standards. Fair enough Doc you admitted making a mistake - HOWEVER, you have also made numerous mistakes in this video. For starters, information is not passed between synapses by electricity arcing. The majority of information is passed between synapses via emission and absorption of neurotransmitter chemicals. Some synapses transmit electrical current via the flow of ions, but in these cases the neurons are in physical contact so there is definitely no arcing. Also, there are many papers in PUBMED warning of the negative effects of the oxidation and aldehydes found in Omega-3 oil supplements. That you are dosing your preschool age child with the cheapest Omega-3 supplement you could find leads me to question how seriously you are taking your Hippocratic Oath. And recommending farmed salmon - good grief!

What would you take if you want to increase your omega 3 if you don't eat a lot of fish? Algal oil, Fish oil high in DHA (from little fish) or Cod Liver oil? It is for me, my kids but also my husband that has really bad psoriasis. We also started Vitamin D and magnesium. And what quality brands? (if I order from iherb or amazon Canada) that might not be rancid and toxicity from heavy metals, I read third party.) Sorry I am new to learning Omega3. I bought 6 months ago krills, and kirkland omega but did not use them, was not sure about quality and 1 month ago decide to learn more. Thanks!
