What are you typically eat on low carb diet?
@alphavid12 жыл бұрын
@@mechkota I have kept a daily routine for 5yrs as of this May as follows. Start my day with a Bullet Proof coffee. I practice time restricted eating so I eat only twice a day:11AM and 5PM. Early meal 4eggs 1/2 avocado. 2tbsp kimchi, 2tbsp sauerkraut mixed together,6 olives green and black, celery sticks, 8'10oz of meat which is the only thing that changes daily. Ribeye, New York Strip, Pork Belly, pork Chop. Bacon, Rack of Lamb sliced into chops, Lamb Chops. Hamburger 80-20, Salmon or Sea Bass. I make Greek yogurt and have 1/2 to 1 cup with walnuts 1oz, 1/2 cup frozen wild blue berries 1tsp of Cylon Cinnamon and Stevia. My late meal can be a can of sardines, large Spring mix or Romaine lettuce salad with olive oil ,& red wine vinegar dressing. Sometimes a shrimp cocktail or fried scallops and cauliflower rice Drink a tbsp of vinegar in glass of water 1/2 hrs before my meals and lemon aid daily between meals. I am getting my blood tested again (every 6 mon) next week as It shows me what is going on inside my body. Every check has shown dramatic improvement in my overall health. This is more than weight loss. Its about prevention of serious complications. Hop you find this useful. PS, don't be afraid of Fat. Butter, Lard, fatty cuts of meat take away hunger and provide energy. Know your Vit D levels and take a good Cod liver oil for you immune system and your heart. Dont be afraid of salt. I use Redmond Real Salt which has lots of minerals in it.

That’s exactly what I wanna do, I’m on keto and planning to keep at it for 2 years then switch to low carb adding limited amounts of complex carbs. On a low carb diet can you eat rice? I love rice but would never eat sugar the way I was eating it again cutting it out helped me do much
@sarahinsf19 күн бұрын
@@ThriveWithLouise No, generally rice is not recommended on a low-carb diet. Rice is a high-carb food, especially white rice, which contains around 43 grams of carbohydrates per cup. Most low-carb diets restrict carbohydrate intake to between 20 and 50 grams per day.

I never saw your channel before. Low carb versus keto and what’s the difference intrigued me so I clicked on your video. I have been following Dr. Atkins diet revolution all my adult life. I lost about 77 lbs And I pretty well maintained my initial weight loss until the last couple years and then I sort of went haywire. Some of my family is saying oh you need to try the keto….well I can’t. My reason is I had pancreatitis twice in 2014 and I have to watch the saturated fats. And I like my dairy and I like my coffee. Now the reason I’m posting on your video today is because I can’t eat over 30 net g of carbs or I get out of ketosis and I gain weight. I wish I could eat 150 g of carbs but I can’t. I don’t eat sugar or starch except maybe on a special occasion as I have hypoglycemia. I always thought a low carb diet is under 60 g of carbs. Why am I wrong to think this? I’m asking you a legitimate question because I would like to know. I did subscribe. I appreciate explanations of how our bodies work. Thank you for this information. Very interesting. Now I’m going to go look at some of your other videos. Thanks again.

Great that you turned it around, I'm 40 today and at 8:15am find myself reading about low carb and keto eating which can only mean I have the same journey to start. 23 stone, get totally numb legs, can't breathe, sleep apnea, the works. Wrestled with keto knowing it's too restrictive and I get almost OCD over it. Low carb just makes sense to me now I've seen this video and feel better already.

From one sciatica sufferer to another, how are you doing these days, a year later?
@martenw8341 Жыл бұрын
Doing a 2 month clean Keto last year changed everything for me since it made me change the taste buds and not crave sugar anymore and get into fasting. It made me love the darkest kind of chocolates and good olive oil etc and even though I cheat from the diet a lot these days the sugar craving hasn't returned and my health has improved so much it's ridiculous. So anyone wanting to say cut down on sugar the best is to remove all carbs cause if you just start just cutting down you'll still have the cravings which on full keto are gone in a week or two and then it's super simple to stay like that instead of this constant struggle with discipline I see many go through

I love seeing folks like you saying how you are supporting and refreshing your knowledge. I keep a quote above my work and personal computer desk that says "The enemy of knowledge is not Ignorance. It is the Illusion of knowledge." by DANIEL BOORSTIN. I looked so good right after surgery but had so many healing complications and swelling and being off my diet for these last 3 months has made me look 6 months pregnant and I’m tired of it. Finally have enough motivation to start back and I’m so excited. I’m just worried because I can’t work out, hell I can’t do half of the activity I was doing because I’m still healing and still have an open wound. I’m either all in or all out and I do so much better on my diet when I can go to the gym or go walk and play with my kids at the park to exercise. Being home and unable to move like I use to just makes me bummed and it’s easier to cheat from just depression. There is no exact point of difference between LC and Keto. The body can subsist on ketones and glucose, and generally the difference is between the ratio of glucose and ketones, rather than a strict cut off, or transition point. Ketosis is not a zero serum glucose state. In practical terms when you want to lose weight some ketosis is necessary to burn fat, whilst avoiding being hungry. You can achieve this best by not eating anything.

Thank you doctor. This is the first video that I've seen explaining what I've been telling people for years. I started an atkins diet 30 years ago and allow myself 12 carbs per day but I don't eat a keto diet. I actually don't keep up with how much protein or fats I consume although I do make an effort to cook with butter, eat eggs and some fatty meat, cheese, nuts and seeds. I likely stay in ketosis but I don't follow the limitations of a keto diet. Unfortunately keto has become the buzz word for all things low carb and it's used wrong. There are no keto recipes, no keto foods. They are all low carb items that are acceptable on a keto diet. Looking around many things are now labeled keto but they by themselves are only low carb. I've told people for years keto is low carb but low carb is rarely keto even if you're in ketosis. That seems to cause the most confusion among people. A keto diet is a strict diet where you have to remain in the guidelines for it. It doesn't matter if you're in ketosis if you're not following the keto guidelines. You're simply eating a low carb diet. There are multiple low carb diets that will get you into ketosis but as far as I'm aware only one keto diet exists. I also have noticed that many people are insisting that 50 to 100 carbs per day is low carb. I'll go by atkins. Start below 20 per day. After you get to the maintenance phase you can add 5 carbs every couple of weeks testing until you drop out of ketosis and then you have to reduce carbs some. The majority of people will likely fall somewhere between 20 to 30 carbs unless they are very physically active. Always have blood work done at least twice a year to check for issues. My doctor had me increase salt and decrease water intake to under 50 oz per day to maintain the correct sodium levels. One last thing that needs to be made clear to new low carb dieters. You don't control weight loss by low carb, you do it by reducing calories you consume. Low carb allows you to burn fats and also reduces your appetite making it easier to eat less.
@opticalman641710 ай бұрын

I had Keto diet for a year and gained weight because I could never reach ketosis due to too much sugar even if I had cut down to almost everything (I was around 50-60). The struggle was on fat. I had a hard time fulfilling my needs in fat. I ended up snacking and it kills it. Too much protein also. It's a difficult equilibrium, I found. I'm moving to vegetarian now and feel a lot better anyway. I recommend Michael Greger's book : How to not die. Great read.

You do not need to keep track of macros. Eat meats/fish with their fat. No need to add extra fat to the meals since your body will then burn its own fat cells. I’ve lost 104# in 18 months. Eat only when hungry, no snacks. Watch Go Keto with Casey or Dr Westman for more info. Hope you give it a try again. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done to improve my Heath and I’m a type 1 diabetic.

@@patriciacyzauskas4067 I was starving. I tried my best. Followed every rules but managed to exceed carbs (I used a macro tracker). I couldn’t get under 45-50/d

A big fan of Dr. Greger, although I don’t think one need go full on vegan. I recommend his book to all my patients. The reason you struggled to stay in ketosis may have been due to too much protein. Many of the amino acids are glucogenic. Excess intake of these can result in gluconeogenesis and subsequent reduction in ketones. It is possible to do vegetarian keto, but it takes a lot more planning and effort.

People, just stop eating bread, pasta and rice. Glucose from natural fruits and other sources it’s fine, eat as our ancestors wouldve

Soooo Atkins and the Keto diet are in fact the same. It's the exact same premise. Every person will have a different threshold to which they must lower carb intake inorder to enter ketosis. The Keto diet is associated with the most restrictive level. That does not justify the attempt to label a whole new diet method.

Once you loose FAT , fk Keto , intermidiate fasting and all that.Unfortunally in the Ages of the Ages to stay lean and with energy you need to eat 5 times small meals ( BIRD FOOD MEALS) for sports and bodybuilding AKA Taperwear .... and not to be DUM AS FK withouth carbs. Like I am now to loose 10 kg pure Fat due to a 1 year car accident. I cant Drag my feet in the Gym with this Keto/Fasting no carb bullshit.

@@IgnoreMeImWrong Ok, you may well spend less and eat less. But I spend no time "worrying about" what I eat. I eat whatever I want. I enjoy a wide variety of all foods without restrictions. I love carbohydrates and I am very lean.

you dont want to be putting anything in your body that wouldn't have been accessible 50.0000 years ago people are getting heart attacks more often first time heart attacks are going up decade after decade since the 1970s so the less saturated fat you ate the more strokes you were likely to have

You’re effectively cutting your calories at the end of the day : that’s why you’re losing weight. All that fat in the diet leaves pudgyness. My keyo buddies are just getting moon faces. Disturbing
@cincin4515 Жыл бұрын
Moon face is also from loads of cortisol being released. Ketosis can be a stress on the body releasing adrenaline and cortisol.
