Sublime, love The Died Pretty, love Dave Faulkner, he always supports his mates and is true to his underground rock and roll roots, absolute legend. Courtney does a beautiful job too.

I fell asleep on the floor once right infront of an open door on a freezing winter's night in Adelaide. I was in a life threatening deep drunken stupor, in full-on self destruct mode and hopelessly afflicted with a heart broken in multiple places. That freezing cold was on the verge of killng me for sure. There was nobody to rescue me. But the TV was blaring and the above Gem of a Song came on ... suddenly I was bashed back into Life as Courtney and Falkie worked this powerful defibrillator on my soul. I was back, shaking uncontrollably, but I was alive. That was maybe a decade ago. I cannot recommend this Special song so brilliantly performed more than that...and Thank You. Ravi from London in Australia

That's an intense story and an intense reference for the song. Hope you are doing better these days and please ask for a helping hand if not. Ain't no shame in that. Take care, peace!

@@stevewhite7084 Dear Steve, it is a great comfort to hear from another awake Human Being.Just so you know I have more than recovered, thank you for asking and yes, I got "Help" alright as you quite correctly suggested. Later I fell even lower but something ' bigger than the world' confronted me and demanded that I get the f**k up. Why should I? I pouted like a spoilt brat. Why? said the powerful voice, coz you and I have Work to do you lazy git, now get up before I lose my temper. I did get up and now I work in the hot part of the front-line where the Fight for the Souls of the Broken, the Innocent and the Condemned is most intense. Can you believe I actually know what I'm doing most of the time? Amazing. God is so damn smart. What I was told I will tell to you... If you ain't scared to your mortal bones said the Voice, then it ain't real Courage is it? and believe Me the Voice concluded with indescribable Authority... the mess you cause and the Courage you Show ME are the ONLY things in this Life that are ever actually yours... Everything else is Mine, not yours. Best wishes to you Steve wherever you are and whatever you do. I can tell you are a proper Geezer so you'll be more than alright I feel sure. Good Luck. Ravi from London in Australia (Quite possibly the actual "wretch" mentioned in Line2 of that supernatural Gospel blinder... Amazing Grace... maybe not, but he does sound very familiar).

I was meant to see the Hoodoo Gurus (with the Dandy Warhols) in December this year but it's been bumped till next year. The anticipation is palpable. Dave is just insane and one of Oz music's best artists. This is a great reading of the song with Courtney Barnett.

I envy you. I still remember seeing them at ANU in 1989, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Dave is incredible for not losing it as he’s aged. Dunno how some musicians Lise it and others don’t?

Ron Peno once threw up on my leg at the Harold Pk Hotel, having nearly finished a bottle of scotch and a few months later we saw him walking by himself at the Crows Nest markets. Dave Faulkner really gives this song the depth and emotions of what a typically great DP song deserves. They were so underrated here in Oz. I once saw a red double decker bus covered in a huge DIED PRETTY poster in London, you would never see that in Oz. By far my most favourite Sydney band. Great cover...

Gah… This is so, so good. Great, even. Courtney Barnett could be such an amazing performer. Watching this again for the first time in several years makes the disappointment of her latest album, on which she wallows in almost a parody of her self-consciously laconic style, all the more stark.
