At 17:33 thank you for validating that! I took my daughter to a specialist and he mentioned how eczema can ruin a persons whole well being, how it was his childhood struggle which is why he specialized in it. When I mentioned it to my daughter’s pediatrician she laughed at me and said it doesn’t and stared at me like I was an idiot then pretty much said he’s a quack… I left so upset with her cause I know my daughter was miserable day/night!

As someone who’s had Eczema for 14 years now, on my lower legs & ankles, sometimes you NEED to go to your doctor and get a prescription. Mine was so bad & so horribly Itchy, I had to get Elocon Ointment for it. Used twice a day, that actually cleared it right up in about two weeks. I tried many over the counter remedies & none of them worked. The prescription Ointment was a necessity for me.😉

Same! I've been able to control my eczema at home without or with very minimal use of cortisone. Which we all know Cortisone is counteractive because it kind of thins your skin and that's kind of the problem to begin with with your skin.. But in the past I needed it... And I need a prescription strength now I'm able to control the flare-ups with over the counter products. It's a game changer and I really feel like sticking to simple fragrance free products that are not gimmicky really saved my skin and my wallet. Thank you Dr. Dray!

Thank you so so much for putting this out! Just this morning, I was going through watching all of your eczema videos because with the weather changes and pregnancy, my skin has completely flipped out with what looks like a topic dermatitis. I was using some Vichy Products before… with fragrance and alcohol! My skin was really happy for quite a while with them but now, I can’t put them near my face! Sad because I just restocked things but you know, you got to do what you Gotta do. So I decided to pick up the Eucerin skin calming cream and their advanced cleansing body and face wash. Just this morning I went and got the Cerave ointment also. The first flareup I had was after using A&D ointment around on my face. It contains lanolin and fragrance… Then I had issues with fragrance products after that, so I believe I have been sensitized to fragrance now. Also, using some oil based skin care products did not help but made issues worse leading up to my second flareup. I am due with my baby in about a month, so I’m really hoping I can clear this up and keep it clear. I’m just planning to use what clears it up and keep using it for these winter months. It’s been hard forsaking all cosmetics in the meantime, but it is what it is!

I am learning so much on this chanel. I have been to a dermatologist twice in 1,5 years. First time he said 'remove your cats, that's the origine/cause probably'.. 2nd time his answer was a little more professional and helpfull. I did get a creme with urea, very stingy in the beginning, but it does take away the itch after 15 minutes... effect doesn't last hours unfortunately. Tried a couple of lotions (eucerin, vaseline.. but most make me itchy after an hour, like it's too slick). I hate showering because its always itchy (too cold, too warm.. finding that sweet spot is hard) but I might try do it more often to get rid of the dried up skin before going to bed and just scratching whole night long. Thank you so much!

The Aveeno anti-itch balm with Pramoxine really messed up my skin barrier. really be careful to not use any topical steroid creams for longer then prescribed and not too often (only if there's really no other way and the eczema is very bad) or else your son can develope something called TSW (topical steroid withdrawal) which can be even worse than having eczema flare ups. i went through it once after using steroids for months with breaks inbetween (doctors kept prescribing me those creams) and after getting off of steroids my eczema that i usually only get on my hands and face started spreading all across my body and my whole body felt like it was on fire and it was one of the worst things i went through with my skin. just wanting to spread awareness and hope this helps!

My favorites are: Nivea sensitive & radiant LOTION, aveeno baby LOTION, and eucerin calming cream. I use the gold bond sometimes I like it too but haven’t used it extensively to recommend it yet

I have been having a hard time with eyelid dermatitis. I would love to see an updated video on this, Dr. Dray. Also, if I put any type of ointment (petrolatum, Cerave Healing ointment) on my lids, they get itchy and swollen. It makes no sense!!

Try spraying your lids with Avenova hypochlorus soray. It works waaaaay better than all the other hypochlorus sprays. It has no preservatives so it only lasts 28 days but it’s a life changer for me.

I have this red inflammatory lesion that has been biopsied several times . One time they said it was actinic Keratosis and gave me that chemotherapy fluorocil cream and i got a bad reaction. Ever since then… that area has been inflamed again, biopsied again and now the pathology says its non-specific. Thank god for concealer. One cosmetic dermatologist wanted to laser it but the differential diagnosis says it may inflame further and another derm said it won’t. I don’t know who to believe. Thank god for concealer. 😌

My last derm about 10 years ago told me not much can be done but steroids and antibiotics. I've been in a perpetual flare up for the past couple years (think when I started wearing moisture wicking clothes) and I sleep 4-6 hours a night. Seriously considering finding a new dermatologist with new ideas. 🤔 I will say that my skin is slowly improving now that I'm switching over to cotton clothes.

Dr Dray what products do you recommend for kids like 6 year olds with eczema.
@db-gb5xi Жыл бұрын
Some of those products would work for kids but you can also check with your pediatrician. The american academy of pediatrics has a short on child eczema.

sadly we don't have most of these in europe or at least in my country so it's always a struggle for me to find the right products.. currently looking for a good body wash that's not too drying and still cleans my skin well and i also experience lots of keratosis pilaris bumps on top of my knees so i'm definitely gonna look out for your recommendations and hope they're also available here. either way thank you so much for this video!

Gold Bond uses strong ingredients which led to my eczema prone hands so them having one for an eczema product would be counter productive for me. Can you recommend others? I saw that you recommended CeraVe which I appreciate.

@drdray please give a quick yes or no to using tallow for skin care. I think you would be against it. A blogger states it has sebum as a good thing, but isn’t that’s what causes problems in our own skin. The pros people list are compelling to convince keto community. My friend wants us to make it for her. I went looking for your opinion.

would you mind sharing what exact products your're using from both brands that helps with your skin? i'm currently using the cerave lotion but it seems to not be moisturizing enough for my skin and i also use a eucerin hand wash oil which i really like but i'm looking for other products to try :)

When my eczema was worse I moisturised it and then used cera ve healing ointment over it. Overtime it started to get worse. Then I stopped using the ointment and stuck to using the moisturiser. It's better now. What could be the reason that it got worse?
@21972012145525 Жыл бұрын
This happens to me too sometimes (not always). I think it’s similar to rosacea. Sometimes occlusive ingredients contribute to flare ups. And since eczema is an inflammatory skin condition, when we use occlusive ingredients it almost seals the inflammation in when the body is trying to let it escape (like heat). It’s not always true but yes can occur
