Personally have been using Liquid Gold for 2.5 years, and it's been amazing on my skin, personally. Then again, I have oily/combination and dehydrated skin, and I live in a very tropical climate so the liquid-like texture of it might fit my skin type better than others that have much dryer skin. Really appreciate the depth review.

Liquid gold was wonderful in repairing my skin when my barrier was extremely compromised, but i had to use my avene cream on top to really seal in the great ingredients. If you have dry skin i'd say test it out alone first then maybe add a cream on top. Love this stuff

it was products like these that sucked me into the skincare craze: an emulsion before a serum and after using asian toner. seal all of it in with a moisturiser, but don't forget an essence and oil before that. sorry if i sound so negative but i was there, and i was left with more problems than i started with. i've realized how ridiculous it was to waste so much money on dubious claims, when i was fine all along with less stuff on my face. thanks Dr Dray, really appreciate the review and the cheaper alternatives you've offered

I use Stratia LG, I think it is magnificent. Just to say it, LG isn't meant as an occlusive ending step. The maker didn't intend it as that either. You're supposed to layer something over it. It's an asian style product yes. Therefore why a minimalist like you won't like it. So what do you think of Shark Sauce from Holy Snail (the original one), can you review it?

I found this to be an outstanding product and would highly recommend it based upon my experience. I have always had highly sensitive skin, intolerant to many well known and respected products... Cerave products for example would cause stinging to my face. Stratia Liquid Gold has been my holy grail for 3 years... For me it has been truly tried and tested. My skins moisture barrier improved dramatically to a point I was able to introduce other products such as niacinamide and finally tretinoin... unthinkable before I began using this product. I layer Stratia, then tretinoin followed by Illiyoon ceramide Ato. A brilliant combination I have found with definite long term positive results. Your video review I would highly expect could not be comparable to someone who suffers from long term skin sensitivity resulting in significant moisture barrier damage. Individuals with this condition would obviously be able to better review the benefits of this product as opposed to those who do not. Obvious and visible results for myself occurred after one month and continued, then expediated after the incorporation of niacinamide. It should not be expected to be used as a stand alone moisturizer. The benefits of using this product have been widely established by the many anecdotal positive testimonials. As you said... the basic ingredients are good... Cholesterol, fatty acids and ceramides.

Isabelle Grenier she clearly said she doesn’t have a problem with it and that it’s only missing occlusives which is 100% true. Moisturizers need emollients, humectants, and occlusives to be 100% effective. It can still work but ultimately you want to prevent water loss which is what occlusives do

Hey Dr Dray! You may have a mostly female viewership, but if you could make a video about beard care, that would be amazing. All the beard oils and cleansers out there are full of fragrances and a myriad of unnecessary ingredients, and I'm not sure I should be using hair products on my face skin either. I think you would get a lot of thanks from some frustrated beard growers who want to keep their skin underneath the beard healthy, as well as the beard.

So early! Dr. Dray, could you do an honorable mention in one of your videos talking about a beauty hack I've read about? I read people are using Desitin as a spot treatment for acne because of the high concentration (I think it's 20%) of zinc in it. I also read a blog where someone slept in zinc-only sunscreen and used it as a treatment product. I personally would not do that but the Desitin thing I might would try. I know it's kind of wacky but I thought it would be an interesting topic. I see a lot of these weird beauty hacks online, like sleeping with slathered petroleum jelly on your face.

Dr. Dray, Your videos and information are super and so appreciated. Am i understanding correctly that you feel that the best thing for skin is moisturizing while your skin is still damp and sunscreen, suncreen, suncreen for the daytime and then moisturize at night after you wash your face (while skin is damp so as not to lose moisture) and then air dry, apply renin-a. All the serums, and claims that vitamin C make, eye creams, vitamin C ...and all the other topicals really aren't doing much? Keeping it simple is the best thing for our skin and aging? Again, thank you for all your invaluable information.

I looked into rosehip oil and couldn't find good data supporting the claims for its being rich in antioxidants. The fruit has them but the oil might not have but trace amounts and Vit. A was only observed in oil of one species, which is not the species used in most products. I was surprised to learn this, which is why I like to rely on the science not the circulated myths or rumors of products. Retinol is weak, but in comparison, rosehip oil's supposed profile of retinoic acid (which again would need to be tested because it would vary between species and product) is almost nothing. The fatty acids seem to be the more important components of this oil.

Hi Dr. Dray! Thanks for another great video. I briefly used the Hada Labo Plumping Gel Cream many years ago when Asian Beauty was just getting started. It was OK, but mainly a thick hyaluronic acid cream and I never bought it again. After watching your skincare routine with Retin-A and thinking about how often you use it, I thought about giving it a try again. When I looked at it on Amazon, I was shocked to see all the additional ingredients that are now in it; including ceramides and collagen, arginine, squalene, etc. etc. They have completely reformulated it since I used it and I’m definitely going to try it again. No wonder you like it so much! I’m curious...are there any known benefits of applying collagen topically? Also, there’s a Hada Labo Gokujun Premium Hyaluronic Solution that has 5(!) different types of hyaluronic acid (the Plumping Gel has 3) that are supposed to provide hydration at various depths of the skin due to the difference in their molecular weights. What are your thoughts about this? It’s getting rave reviews. Thanks for indulging my inquisitive mind! 😁

Hi Dr. Dray. You have answered by thoughts in this video! I was going to ask you what you would recommend that is cruelty free to seal in moisture after washing the face. I use the Stratia Liquid Gold and agree with you about the consistency of it. Too runny. I will apply the liquid gold (to use it up) after washing my face then apply the Ceramedx Restoring lotion or the Ceramedx, Ultra Moisturizing Cream which might be even better before my sunscreen. Hope this isn't overkill. LOL Your videos are so valuable! You always provide great information!

Tina Hu I love using it mixed with another heavier moisturizer, it’s really soothing. Dr Dray has a very particular texture and thickness she likes and often passes on products for being “too runny.” And that’s ok, everyone has their preferences! I love her breakdown on the ingredients, that’s what is important to me and what I get out of her videos. But my skin much prefers more liquidy products personally.

Hi Dr. Dray! I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a few weeks now. I’m loving all of the content. Your videos are so informative & I am a more informed and empowered consumer because of them. So first, thank you! I wanted to ask for your thoughts about incorporating an Aloe Vera gel into a skincare routine. The product I have (up&up) is fragrance, dye, and alcohol free. There is ‘Diazolidinyl Urea’ listed in the ingredients. Would that be concerning for Retin-A users?

Dr Dray awesome I just received Freederm in the mail, it’s cheaper than and not a watery mess like Sharksauce. I also used a full bottle of Paula’s Choice 10% niacinamide (straight up water!!!) and it was expensive, with no results.

I started using LG for the ceramides and niacinemide bc Cerave PM burned--I'm totally with you on wishing the LG was less watery and formed a seal. Because of that, I layer vanicream on top of it, but wish I only had to use one product instead. Good to know ceramedx can be a good alternative--I already use it on my body and love it, so I'm excited to learn it can be used on the face! Thanks for your thoughtful review, as always~
