I add buttons, small charms, pins, shell/crystal/glass/whatever beads, tiny toys and even small chandelier crystals to my dreads! I love having my bling in my hair, I even forget to wear jewellery..I just incorporate my piercings/earrings/other body jewellery into it as well. I love these looks! It's also perfect if you have a collection of lost/ or bad metal earrings you can bend them into and around the dread! I like to use big buttons instead of hair ties or clips tooooo

Dutch braid (or draids) is my favourite dreadlock style to keep my hair easily tucked away for winter.

I absolutely LOVE that idea with the charm! I have my first ever set of dread extensions in to see how I like them before getting the real deal. I am happy to say I will be getting real ones as soon as these are ready to come out! I am going to find a special charm or bead and sew it in the first one as well to document the journey and new growth! Thank you for sharing!

Hey :) If you search on youtube fish tail braid how to, you can click the little setting icon on the top right and slow it down to like 50% or whatever suites you, and dreadlock fishtail is done with the same method, I hope that helps :) xx

One thing to note about start of growth charm. My dreads are 5 years old and I had an awesome leaf style bead that I used as my growth start point. At the 3 yr point I broke my leg and needed surgery. The nurse were required to remove all metal charms and beads from my hair. I have other ones that are glass or opal and those stayed but my leaf startpoint had to be removed. I was able to replace it after a few days in the hospital but almost lost it when a nurse thought it wasn’t important. All this to say, maybe choose a not metal charm for your growth start marker. 😁

Hi sorry for the late reply! I'm not sure what you mean though when you says how 'do I do' the loose pieces at the front.. Sorry! gorgeous dreads! I had dreads for 6 years and have been thinking of doing them again, starting with extensions so they look nicer. . . but I posted about it on FB and started getting negative comments about it being appropriation. . . so much criticism! Do you have to deal with that a lot? I don't think it is appropriation, it is so unique to each individual and reflects a journey that they alone know. . . . but it would frustrate me if I had to deal with negative energy coming at me a lot. . I wonder what your experience is

Hey thanks for your comment :) So I hardly ever get approached about the cultural appropriation but when I do I just ignore and delete the comments. I spend no time worrying about what other people think of my hair choices, its my hair and where all human :) So you do you! Ignore other peoples opinions and do what you want and youll feel so good when you do :)
