Dream Guitars Performance - Clive Carroll - Swannanoa 2017 - "And I Love Her"

Without question one of the world's most accomplished guitarists, Clive Carroll's dynamic and nuanced performances are captivating and truly awesome to experience.
We caught up with Clive between sessions of his teaching schedule during 2017's "Guitar Week" at Swannanoa Gathering (at Warren Wilson College), trying out a guitar or two by Luthier John Slobod of Circa Guitars. Here's a magical, behind the scenes performance of the Beatles classic, "And I Love Her", Arranged by Pat Metheny.

@@DreamGuitars Of all the great guitar players, Clive, perhaps like a pro race car driver (who can within minutes find and maintain the limits of a racecar they have never driven) seems able to pick up a guitar he has never played and straight away milk every sweet note and tone it has to offer.

Well, its sort of Pat Methany's arrangement but its been expanded considerably a la Clive Carroll and is much improved over an already fine arrangement. I wish I could buy the tabs for it because otherwise I can see that I will be spending long hours on the slow speed version picking it up. Clive Carroll is a beautiful genius. The Beatles, jeez the Beatles, the best thing that happened to music in my lifetime, the songs they wrote, so simple and yet so incredibly good. As long as there will be a human race these songs will be remembered. As Leonard Bernstein said, the Beatles were the Schubert of our age.

I'm not positive, but I believe this Circa guitar is Brazilian Rosewood/Adirondack Spruce. Clive's playing is incredibly nuanced. Just amazing. Thanks for watching!

@@DreamGuitars Thanks for getting back. Yeah, I was thinking Adirondack too but with Indian RW. I’ve seen Clive play in Calstock (UK) - such an amazing guitarist- he also came across as a really nice guy too. As with others , I felt this guitar needed to ‘open up’ a bit - but it’s going to be a gem. Well done Circa guitars 👍
