@@caelmcleish1212Eh, honestly Lifting shadows of a dream might just be my favorite DT song of them all. Is the most technical or complex and difficult. Nope. Is it just freaking beautiful? Hell yeah, but in the end, it´s just an opinion

It's prog, but not for the sake of wanking or showing off. It's prog in that it uses interesting time sigs, and an unusual song structure to tell a story. Also a lot of interesting instrumental techniques on this song, and a fusion of a lot of different styles. Still one of DT's best songs.

LaBrie has his moments... due to his injury, around the mid and late 90s some songs sound better (Metropolis 2 in New York is one of their best concerts, if not the best) and other worse than the studio versions, while at their beginning, he was simply perfect. Listen the Marquee live and it will fucking blow your mind. I think what makes LaBrie belong in DT is the fact that he always sings like it's the last show of his life.

I just wish he was as good these days as he was then. I think he sabatoged himself by singing incredibly difficult melodies when he could in his youth, and now that he’s older he simply doesn’t have the physiology to keep up with the songs he recorded.

VerdiKtagrad maybe song quality is "worse" but the band is in no way worse. Myung, Petrucci and Rudess can still play like they could in the early 2000s. As for Mangini, I don't really mind him and it's very subjective so I won't delve deeper into that.

@50STFPAUL
@50STFPAUL 9 жыл бұрын

Score is awesome, but I like Scenes from New York better. It's just my opinion, of course. My problem with Score is that I feel they didn't do a very good selection of songs, I mean... Innocence faded? Spirits Carries on? Vacant?... seriously? Is that the best they could come up with? Scenes from new york has no weak point, it's epic to the end.

well, spirit carries on definitely could have been replaced with something different as well. innocence faded definitely was chosen for the "condescending... NOT (F# on the not) intending to..." bit, to show the high note in this song, so I think. Yes, I agree with the response from MaintainTheFrogsBite on how the tone overall from Score was better, and James still didn't fully "recover" from his vocal injury in Scenes from New York. Every show in DT has its ups and downs Both had their moments
