I think the band must decide if they want to get Labrie on board with them...they should use lower keys like many bands do. And also James should sing without running like a child, just stay composed, concentrating only his vocal performance like in studio. The real frontman is back in MP, so just focus on singing...

Wouldn't it be funny if JL gets fired now that MP is back.

The guy is 60, he still sounds great, especially in the studio where it matters the most, and no singer on earth could tour like James does, and still sound great all the time. Some nights he’s gonna be great, and if his voice is worn out he’s gonna struggle. He is the most irreplaceable singer in all of metal. Nobody else on earth sounds anything like him, a change of singer would radically change their sound.

I was there. I brought my 15-y.o. son. We drove down almost 5 hours to see the show. I kept having to apologize to him for LaBries voice. He's a DT fan (on disc/KZbin) but this was his first time seeing DT live. (Last year we saw Rudess' solo tour - that was awesome - got to meet him, my son left the venue swooning.) Anyway, my kid didn't seem to mind - or notice - too much that LaBrie's voice was off, but I've seen them 7 or 8 times already, and man, that Philly show was pretty brutal, especially after the vocals masterclass that Devin Townsend put on. Had I been there by myself (and had I not known what was going to happen in the encore), I actually might have left early. LaBrie did get a little better towards the end, but he just couldn't seem to come close to anything note-wise. In the encore, the verse parts where Townsend took over for LaBrie were brilliant (Devin took the higher parts, mercifully). I love Dream Theater, and have since WDaDU. But I think I won't see them live again. Musically still top notch, but the vocals ruin it for me now. Sad. End of an era.

I just saw them in Hamilton, Ontario and I was in shock. Also, have been with them since the very beginning and seen them multiple times. The band was on fire, but, the singing was absolutely unlistenable. We assumed that he was sick…. But maybe not. I love this band so much (especially the last two albums!) but James was just awful. I will not see them again. It was sad. Devon Townsend stole the show.

Is he possibly “medicated”. Or does he need to be wearing earpieces to hear the music? He’s off pitch, cadence, everything.

I cannot believe it. This sounds EXACTLY the same as when I saw them in Boston. Same stumbling in the beginning. No high notes. Blegh. What sad shame.

I wonder how they deal with that internally, because even I that am a newbie drummer can tell LaBrie is TERRIBLY off, imagine them. I watched them a month ago here in my state and the high notes in “Pull me Under” were painful to hear specially after Devin’s masterclass. Just sad. I have nothing but respect for James legacy but he’s clock is ticking and he is making DT sound bad (crazy isn’t it?). Just curious to see if it’s gonna be the end of DT or a new beginning.

I'm calling all Dream Theater Fans to boycott D.T.-Shows until they do what they should have done a long time ago: Find a new singer. This is just wrong to continue on and on with someone who can't sing anymore. It's the next best thing to having someone on stage who's so ill that he's wetting & crapping himself in front of the audience. You just don't do that: it's wrong.
