Not only are they creating a unique sound within the K-Pop industry and have overall incredible vocals and dancing skills, but they are using their voices for good. To be honest, I can relate to you so much lol as a rock/metal/indie fan as teenager and kpop fan in my twenties when I first discovered dreamcatcher, I was blown away. They make me so excited about their songs. You can never be disappointed over their music quality and uniqueness. It's so refreshing and I think their style is kind of ahead of it's time. In the future, we may see artists doing what they do so well. I've already commented it, but here's a list of videos you need to check out: - Dystopia trilogy: Scream MV, Boca MV and Odd Eye MV. (MV = music video) - Endless Night MV - Deja Vu MV - b-sides: Wind Blows Performance Play Color, Eclipse - Special clips: Sahara, Red Sun - Lives: DEJA VU MTV UNPLUGGED, Boca live at Esquire Korea, Odd Eye Live at Esquire Korea, Scream raw vocals (radio version)

you are so right on with their message which is a recurring message throughout their discography. after all, they are dream 'catcher'. they themselves are the black sheep in their industry making music in a style that is not stereotypical and actually disliked in korea. yet instead of changing to fit the mold, they stayed true to their themselves which is also another recurring theme in their discography. after years of being overlooked, they took it one step at a time and recently got some recognition in korea by winning their first music show award last month. the only thing missing is the audience and a live band.. but during covid we take what we can get :) also big thanks to victoria for continuing to recommend dreamcatcher songs. I wanted to add 'good' dreamcatcher songs but literally all their songs are good including a lot of the non-rock ones you have yet to check out ;)
@AmadanMath2 жыл бұрын
Some context to rock being actively disliked in Korea till recently: once upon a time in 2005 two members of the punk rock band Rux exposed themselves on live national televison, and the live sausage broadcast shocked the conservative nation. Show got cancelled, arrests were made, and rock was dead to Koreans for a decade or so. Recently it has begun to change, and I believe largely due to Dreamcatcher. Rock started snaking its way into the sound of many other groups lately, and even being well-accepted (e.g. I-DLE's newest very punk album). Dreamcatcher themselves are, of course, not disliked at all (except by the industry). They were rather unknown to the general public, but any Koreans I saw that actually heard or knew of them liked them; and they have a TON of friends and fans in other kpop girl groups. 100% agreed on every single DC songs being awesome.

@jadenseph18092 жыл бұрын
Yes to your statement. I've watched talented groups in vocal, dance, rap. But the music Dreamcatcher makes really has this attraction and pulling you in. Lyrics is where they shine most. Putting messages in the lyrics and convey them in a way people will listen to. Not just headbanging to the beat, jumping to the music, dancing to the vibe but really listening to the words. That's why I love this girls. Not all their songs have messages like this song but the ones that matter have it. And their music is not boring, i have been listening to them every day since Odd Eye (2021).

you can interpret the nightmare series a number of ways but it's definitely not about mental health awareness

@@ivyshy98 well..that is the way I interpret it...phobia still a part of mental disorder...each members represent different kind of phobia in the Nightmare Series...
@ivyshy982 жыл бұрын
@@durioceravagravolens2560 ah I see where you get that, but that's part of the visual plot than the lyrical theme of the series. for example the visual plot for scream is something like witch guardians trying to restore an ancient tree and save one of their members, but the lyrics address hate(with visual imagery suggesting the online nature). the visual plot in their mvs is more for entertainment than anything else. if you read the lyrics without watching the mv or hearing about the plot, you would never guess it's about phobias.
@durioceravagravolens25602 жыл бұрын
@@ivyshy98 just like you said...different people with different interpretation...although the first 2 songs Chase Me & Good Night more like fantasy story...but when Fly High came out, their Nightmare theme went even darker, focus more to 'fighting their own Phobia/ Fear', it is the curse within them...those 'Phobia' could be mean anything, and one of them is Mental Disorder...depend on how you deal with it...would you rather just let it taking over you entirely like in PIRI...or fight it back and freed yourself like in Breaking Out...or just share the problem or thought with other person like in Curse of the Spider...

I’ve watched this video a few times before and I suspect that their audio is being channeled through their headset mics during the megaphone parts, with the distortion being applied as an effect as opposed to being the from the megaphone.
