In "You and I" you can see the spider queen coming for Yoohyeon. She is the old woman that is being photographed - only to rob Yoohyeon's spirit. Also, earlier we see Dongie being pinned to the wall by needles, what is usually done to insects. For me, Yoohyeon's spirit is being pulled out here and thrown into the white dimension, which we will see again in Piri. The spider queen takes over her body, which is why we see JiU try to free Yoohyeon (without success) and grab her neck in the end. I highly recommend to check out the dance practice as well, because Dami does something very special that didn't make it into the MV. "What" is still in my top 3 favorite title tracks. It's heavy for a Korean release and I love the syncopation in the second half of the chorus. Story-wise this is the first time they wear non-uniform outfits, which I believe is because they lost Yoohyeon (or at least her spirit) and are kind of broken. You can also see them search for her alone, not as a group. For me this is a song about the loss of a loved one and what that does to a group or family. I might be reaching, but this is the meaning for me. "Piri" is the last part of the Nightmare Arc (their Japanese release "Breaking out" can be seen as an alternative ending). In "What", the girls have been searching for Yoohyeon, and here they find each other again, but in the end they are all stuck in the white dimension. A Piri is a Korean flute that was used historically to signal danger, and that is what Yoohyeon does here when the members arrive. She is the one capturing them one by one, to rescue them and bring them to safety. They are together in the end, but still stuck. Dreamcatcher don't do happy endings. 😉

My own interpretation : It started in *Fly high* where yoohyeon burned the spider .In *You and I* the spider came for revenge and took over yoohyeon's body so the girls did a spell and opened a portal for her to get back but she didnt make it and the portal closed .In *what* we see that yoohyeon was actually trapped in that room and then jiu realizes that it wasn't the real yoohyeon whom they got back . *Piri* They go to a purgatory of some sort to search for yoohyeon but they get trapped instead and turn into spirits themselves the ones we see in *chase me* and *Good night*

I think you could make the argument that the hands grabbing them is JiU pulling them out of their nightmares and bringing them all back together at the end (with, as with the entire series, an emphasis on freeing Yoohyeon). But also: this is why a lot of us feel like Breaking Out is the more satisfying ending.

Can you imagine being this talented and having problem in music industry because of how you sound ? Thankfully these seven buddies had a great start internationally. I mean, for example, Europe loves Dreamcatcher. Maybe we (Europeans) are more inclined to the rock sound, who knows… but still Dreamcatcher has it all: artists who are really good at what they do, great team of people who work behind the scenes for the ensemble and last but not least the super talented and faithful dancers. 😊

So about the handkerchiefs in You & I the big reason is… they’re props for the dance, they need to be a cool striking color to go with their outfits and so that they’re visible to the girls and audience because if not you get what happened to Yoohyeon which is inevitably dropping it and slipping on it and laying down on the floor in defeat

Breaking Out was supposed to be the final entry in the Nightmare story. Sua said as much in the 'making of' video that came with the Japanese album. At the time Dreamcatcher were concentrating on breaking into the Japanese market. Dreamcatcher Company CEO got his start in the music business in Japan and had always planned on taking Dreamcatcher there, since rock music is very popular in Japan. Covid ended all that and the song kind of slipped through the cracks and ended up being thought of as an 'alternate' ending. . Piri is not a satisfying ending while Breaking Out definitely is. You can decide when you see it

SuA said Breaking Out is the last in the Nightmare series, which is good enough for me and more confirmation than many other things in the series. Calling it an alternate ending is very much a fandom thing probably stemming from the absolute refusal in kpop for anything japanese to connect to anything korean due to historical conflicts. To me Breaking Out fits in nicely leading off the end of Piri.

Thanks for the great reaction! Possible reference. In the Christopher Nolan film "Inception", the main character determined that he was in a dream when the top was spinning without stopping. In "You and I", the frame was flipped at 1:05 when Jiu saw a spinning top (possibly showing that she was in a dream). A possible continuation of the reference - in "What" for the first time at 0:22 the toy is shown standing on the floor, and when Gahyeon sees it at 2:33 the toy is rocking.

Not sure about the first 4 MVs, maybe 'You and I' has some other social message but I think since 'What' is when they started to add social messages/meaning behind their songs in addition to the fantasy storylines and the Nightmare/Dystopia/Apocalypse motifs and concepts. Nightmare (Pt 1) - Becoming Dreamcatcher, fighting the ghost hunter and the nightmares, escaping the Nightmare Nightmare (Pt 2) - chased by spider queen, searching for and rescuing Yoohyeon so all of them can be together What - depression, feeling alone, album name is Alone in the City *wink* *wink* Piri - about dealing with suicidal thoughts, lyrics like Dami saying 'I had a gun for a while' , chrous 'play the piri' as in ask for help. I read somewhere the company got in trouble for the promotions leading up to the release, they went too strong with a video that showed a bridge infamous for suicides in SK with actual news stories and stuff, they took it down and released an apology letter. Deja Vu - consequences of betrayal in search of power like losing people you love (Yoohyeon ending up on the throne all alone, reminiscing about old times at empty dinner table) Dystopia - One day the light did not come people forgot how to say good things, the tree of language gets corrupted and starts bearing bad fruits (birth of evil), technology intensifies this, DC try to fight against it and try to find a Utopia to revive the tree but ultimately fail Scream - cycle of online hate, someone hates on you and then you hate on others to feel better (lyrics changing from 'Please I don't want to scream' in first chorus to 'I just wanna make you scream' in the last chorus) Boca - consequences of online hate, urging people to shut their mouth if nothing better to say, it was released around the time when there were many idols/celebrities committed suicides (last pre chorus lyrics refer to this 'Too many angels dying now, I'm gonna change your mind') Odd Eye - accepting the world we live in, anything can be a plausible lie, no Utopia without hate exits, focus and work on yourself, be vigilant otherwise you will get hurt. BEcause - ###Spoiler### Apocalypse - Corrupt and wealthy people harming the environment, waging wars, DC fight them to protect home and plea to break our habits that harm the environment. SuA tries to give them a Nightmare (*wink*) (SuA and goat head scene just before the final chorus in Maison). Dami hacking so that they can spread their message to the whole world and unite them against the bad people and giving them a vision of what the world would look like if we continue this way (Dami Maison rap + Vision final chorus). Finally, after successfully spreading their message, trying to live in harmony with nature and allowing the home to heal (creating a protective barrier which is removed at the end of Bon Voyage MV) Maison - plea to break our habits and change for the better and protect our environment Vision - fight for what you believe in against all odds, standing your ground Bon Voyage - taking time off to heal and get better, especially when you realise you are hurting someone or yourselves with the way things are going Villians - Parallel world story of being Villains (narcissistic), luring people in using the "crown" which can give anyone in possession of it success, wealth and power as shown by each members in the MV and killing them for their own amusement (?), will see. OOTD - not chasing after superficial success like online influencers like to depict their lives, it's not real, you will get hurt or worse if you chase after it.

The vocal slide is called a glissando, Handong has an amazing one in a b-side with mv called July 7th. Fly High and You & I tell the story of how regular girls at a boarding school found a book that corrupted them, Yoohyeon burned the guardian spider, the spider queen came for revenge, and trying to save her got all the members cursed as spirits for that guy to come ghost hunting.

12:57 that spinning toy is the throw back to the Inception movie. The main character has this totem (which in a shape of a spinning toy) that he use to determine whether he's dreaming or not. Now you see in JiU scene the toy looks really stable and not wobbly at all. Which means that she (and the entire group) is already trapped in the dream, that is the Nightmare era. And that is why "What" contains a lot of "dreaming" references because they're trapped inside the dream and need to break it up, wake up from it.

In my opinion Chase Me/Good Night is the actual ending of the series on how they escape the Nightmare realm after they finally are all together again after PIRI/Breaking Out. Most of the time (if not all) when there is a hand shown it is Dami's (even if it's not suppose to be her) she pretty much is the official hand model for the MVs. PIRI was the debut of Gahyeon rapping, which I think they use her well to set it up for Dami to spike it.

If you have reached PIRI and go back to the previous MVs, you'll see there are several references to JiU's role as the cursed spider. In Fly High, she saw herself plays the piano and got frightened (reference to how she finally comes face to face to who (the veiled woman=cursed spider) she really is in PIRI). In What, JiU's part "why can't I catch you" when the camera is pointed to YooHyeon definitely has a new meaning after watching PIRI. (EDIT): PIRI serves as an alarm sound in the song, signifying the danger approaches. And guess who in the MV sings Pi-ri-ri-ri-ri-ri. It gives away JiU's role as the one sounding the alarm (as the real danger) and rounding up the entire Dreamcatcher back to the nightmare. (EDIT2 sorry): In the end of Fly HIgh, JiU closed the gate instead of running away and was seemingly determined to go back to the mansion/school. At first it seems like she was going to save her friends. But if you look back after PIRI, it can be assumed JiU was partially possessed already. So it makes her action of closing the gate and going back to her friends so much darker.

There's so much imagery in the MVs and they're right, it takes a bunch of watches to catch everything. Speaking of, I watched You & I dozens of times before I realized that the portal that Yoohyeon is trying to run through looks a whole lot like a magnifying glass focusing moon light which is a mirror of how she killed the spider. My broad strokes interpretation of these 3 songs is as follows. In You & I the spider queen shows up to take revenge for Yoohyeon's actions in Fly High. In trying to save Yoohyeon the rest of the members end up trapped in the Nightmare realm with her. In What the girls are all trapped and are separated. They're all trying to find each other, and Jiu is specifically looking for Yoohyeon. It appears that everything happening here is stuck in a loop and no matter what they do everything reverts to them waking up in the same spot that they started. In Piri they're still searching for each other while running from their individual fears. Jiu is confronted with the realization that she was the "bridal veil". If you go back to Fly High you'll see a few frames of a woman walking around in a bridal veil but her personality is never shown. This seems to confirm that Jiu, or her doppelganger, was responsible for at least some of the issues that started everything.

Piri was the first DC song I heard and I was immediately hooked. Far and away the greatest gift the KZbin algorithm has given. I absolutely love all 3 though. Definitely my personal favorites from the Nightmare series.

DREAMCATCHER YOU & I MEANING: The events of the You & I music video is YH’s nightmare. She was possessed (in my mind) when she killed the spider but this could have been a weak curse (as the spider had to be killed before the full curse got to the other members), so the spider’s hold onto YH was weak. So when she is transferred to the nightmare, the curse is lifted and she follows the rules set by the other members (who were strongly possessed). For example, she follows SY and becomes a photographer (as she didn’t know how to get out). There is also a change in leadership, as SY was also the leader. This could have occurred during the forest trip in Fly High. Once each member was possessed, they get transferred to the nightmare (an alternate reality) alongside SY. We don’t see much of the others except for DM, JIU, SY and YH. HD is bound, GY interacts with her reflection, SUA is around. Not sure why some members are shown in a limited way and why they are where they are.For DM, her inexperienced magic powers cause her to become stuck in the dome. As her magic matures, she magicked up a stick and broke the glass.While taking a picture, YH encounters a lady, who turns out to be the spider. Proof that YH had her curse lifted is that she became scared of the presence of the spider. She is knocked out. She then wakes up again with the evil inside her. JIU at the start is running through the halls. I assumed she had some ‘good’ within her because as she ran around, she looked genuinely concerned and scared. She stops at a spinning top, clearly not want to stop it spinning. Why she stopped? Nobody knows but it seems like she does - as if stopping the top will cause something bad to happen. One of the scenes showing an evil spirit almost getting to her, but we don’t see the aftermath of that close encounter.It seems like JIU is helping YH by doing some ritual that allows YH the chance to run to a portal that would get her out of the nightmare. That is what we are made to think. But in reality, the dark spirit got to JIU (as I said, we didn’t see the aftermath) and caused her to become fully evil. She baits YH into thinking this plan might work and that she can escape. My question is why would JIU help YH become free while the rest of the members are standing around them and not doing anything? SY is the ring-leader (she is the one in charge of the photos), so why doesn’t she stop them? Because JIU is evil and is tempting YH. Everyone else knows about the plan, everyone besides YH. The evil spirit is lifted (temporarily) allowing YH to run towards the now closing portal (I think this is linked to the top. If JIU stopped the top, she would have closed the portal and therefore she could not convince YH that this will work).The leader consistently changes, with JIU becoming the leader after she becomes evil. Hence, why nobody stopped her. YH runs towards the portal but it closes. And at the same time, the evil returns, latching onto her. As a result, she passes out and the members surround her once again, waking her up.

I have a fun moment with Piri. After my college’s football won a Bowl game, my family decided to watch the game after. As music comes on before the ad break, I noticed that it was playing the intro to Piri and I thought to myself “I know those guitar and flute sounds.” As someone who worked with college sports broadcasting I know the sound person picks or has songs preselected. So I know someone in that crew is or was an Insomnia.

I believe that somewhere between You and I and Piri, potentially in What, Siyeon found how to fully harness her charisma and be the wolf. Piri is my favorite title track. It also happens to be the title track when Siyeon made herself co-bias alongside Dami. I am weak for blonde Siyeon. I used Dami’s Piri hairstyle as inspiration for a hairstyle I had for a time. I love Dami and Siyeon’s Piri suits. Silver Yoo is my favorite Yoo. You and I was 4th and Piri was 5th when I was getting into them: Boca, Scream, Deja Vu, You and I, Piri. I then went back and watched The MVs in order. I actually watched the nightmare in two ways. First was order of release, second was with Fly High as the start so I acted as the beginning instead of a flashback before continuing on to Chase me, Good Night, You and I, What, Piri, Breaking Out.

It seems like they have been stuck in the same place for a while. You can tell from their outfits and the modern surroundings. Moreover, some of them seem to be repeating the same scene over and over again, like they are trapped in a time loop. For instance, Jiu's first scene is also her last scene.

Little things you missed I wanted to note: YOU AND I, Jiu stops when she sees the spinning top on the floor, this is a reference to the movie Inception, and the way tops work in that movie when they're mucking in dreams. You otherwise really picked up on other story beats and people already mentioned other things. What has a lot of scenes that are only shot once, like during Dami's rap there's a super brief shot of her sitting in a chair with a bunch pushed against a door behind her like trying to keep something out. You noticed the Joker cards floating around Yoohyeon at that one point, but did you also notice how the walls looked like they were bleeding? That outfit also looked to be the one she was wearing on the roof when Jiu is looking up to her, but if she's in the bloody room.... You should also try to track down the Japanese version of the song and video, they're different enough that I think you might find more parts of it interesting! I don't think they've done videos for the Japanese version of releases since. They'll do videos for the Japanese exclusive releases like Breaking Out, but if it's something they've done a video for in Korean, after this point, there's not a Japanese counterpart. PIRI I felt that there were three places. The stark white where Yoohyeon starts seems to be where Siyeon and Dami end up after they're pulled. Siyeon may not have taken that hand, but she previously in her hallway would show up again each time she went down a different turn, right up until she ran from the hand, then she actually got away. We see her in the stark white the next time where she climbs a ladder, looking for a vantage point? Then folds her hands very noticeably, like one would do when waiting for someone. Dami is lost in similar halls to Siyeon, but it seems for her to be endless instead of the whole scooby-doo hallway Siyeon was in, and at one point stops in despair, much like Siyeon did. Thats when she notices the door, and goes to see, and gets pulled through. She's next in a much more lit area, brighter but not quite white, but instead of the target like circles shining on her, it's instead a scattered light that looks like broken shards of glass or feathers tossed into the wind. Thats when she folds her hands and draws them to her face. Gayheon may not have fully gotten there, being the only one harshly pulled from her 'room of horror', she instead is stood in similar lighting/hallway to where Dami and Siyeon were, only it's a pinpoint of light she's looking into, and the circles on the wall are black, and not the light shining through them. So its as if she's between whatever was casting light into the hall where the other two were, and we don't see her reach the same white place Yoohyeon, Siyeon and Dami are in. Like Gahyeon, Jiu, Sua and Handong are all brought to a pause in rooms filled with familiar objects, but something is off, something isn't right. Sua's doll moves, Jiu sees herself reflected twice in the tv she's looking into, Handong is tormented by all of the clocks ringing at once (my impression). What -they- three do to escape is drop the doll, smash the clock and turn away from the tv, and run off, to me they end up in the white place but we never see them in other scenes to indicate that like we do with Siyeon and Dami. Gahyeon, she couldn't draw herself away from the phones, she actually *answered* her fear and was listening to it, then dragged away, only to then be in the hallway. Im not sure how Gahyeon gets out! You guys did then note that Breaking Out is what fandom considers the end part to the Nightmare Series, and I'll see what you guys think when I get to that vid! I was waiting for the next reaction. 😁 Some interpretations say that after Yohhyeon gets trapped in the nightmare and they scape, What is like, JiU trying to look for her to bring her back. However, she's just like...cursed? and the evil in her is like angry cause they left her. What is one of the best DC songs IMO but there is like a whole auto veto with that song, because some weird events happened at the time of that CB. I was not around at that time but they almost NEVER sing that song even when people ask for it. Rarely that do. AND some parts of the whole choreo are just magnificent.

That's how I always explain PIRI, pretty much verbatim 😅 Many people always are saying "Breaking Out" (the Japanese song after this) is an "alternate ending" but yeah I am one of the people who have always interpreted it a little differently, so I'm curious what you will think of it! And I think in "What" like you said they all were alone or at least they had solo scenes but Yoohyeon was mostly just sitting on the bed, or at least being in that room, while the others were mostly walking around and looking like they are all searching for Yoohyeon. Other than that I feel like "What" doesn't have quite as much "story" as the other MVs; like in "YOU & I" Yoohyeon gets taken and is trapped in the nightmare world or whatever other realm or place and they try to bring her back with the rituals but Yoohyeon doesn't reach the portal in time so clearly they failed? And then in "What" it's just.. "they are looking for Yoohyeon" 😅 And then in "PIRI" they are still looking for her, now literally in the maze (Yoohyeon's nightmare was being lost in unknown places), so I always thought that in "PIRI" they reached the deepest part of the nightmare world and then they keep getting yanked one by one by... Yoohyeon? maybe? And then at the end they are stuck together 😔 With me interpreting it as being about mental health, I think it's interesting that they went for a non-happy ending. Or an ambiguous ending at best. Of course, unfortunately not all stories about mental illness do have a happy ending in real life. And then interestingly the Dystopia trilogy also doesn't have a happy ending. And neither does Deja Vu, which at best has a Pyrrhic victory with Yoohyeon on the throne but all her friends dead or gone. I suppose the Apocalypse trilogy maybe doesn't have a traditional happy ending, but it's a cautiously hopeful ending at least? I don't believe you've seen "R.o.S.E. BLUE" or "BEcause" yet so of course I won't spoil how those end, but excited for more reactions in the future! I love your reactions and you two are definitely great at picking up on stuff!

'Breaking Out' (Japanese Track) not only known as the Alternate Ending, it is also the direct continuation of Piri,. While Piri have the darker ending where all the girls trapped in Nightmare Realm, Breaking Out is more like a positive ending where all the girl face their own Phobias to escape from the Nightmare Realm & succeed.

Loved this reaction!! Especially the appreciation for 'What'; it's one of my fave title track songs by them, but sadly it's often forgotten and left out of convos :( There are a lot of different theories out there since -to my knowledge- happyface/dcc has never released an official lore doc. Personally Piri feels like Yoohyeon is calling out to the members to help them find & save her from the nightmare/alternate realm, but each member is isolated and one by one encounters their own nightmare traps. Resulting in them being stuck in the realm forever, but at least with Yoohyeon so she's no longer alone. So uh a sad ending since they're not free, but happy for Yoohyeon at least no longer being lonely 😅 (I remember when I first watched I thought it was Yoo grabbing them to trap them with her. This isn't a theory I've seen elsewhere tho so it's just one that floats in my mind as a little 'what if'. Mainly because when she was on the roof watching JiU in 'What' it felt oddly sinister to me, like she had been completely taken over by the curse and the loneliness she'd felt throughout the MV manifested in her deciding to make sure the members stay trapped with her in the nightmare.)

Looking forward to your reactions to their Japanese songs-I think they’re a cut above even the perfection of their Korean releases, there’s so much obvious investment and sophistication of production there (their CEO leveraging his old affection for jrock, I assume). The drummer for the power metal band Hammerfall even had a hand in Endless Night! It’s such a shame there won’t be more Japanese releases.

Late to watching the reaction and i feel you on the whole "everything is going too fast". I didnt fully put a semblance of a storyline together until i watched the MVs about an under exaggerated 50 times😅. There is a ton to unpack but looking at each Mv as a single sentence summary it makes more sense? Thats my experience anyways (aka long nights of diving into the lore and freaking out upon seeing a spider right afterwards)

Great reaction, as always. And you did great on your analysis. Allow me to fill in the blanks according to how I see it: You and I First of all, Dreamcatcher are witches. We've seen them do seances and using magic books etc. Secondly, photos seem to be very important. This is the 4th mv we see their photo. I believe photos are used to be able to put spells on people. That's why they cut out their photo in Fly High and protect it at all costs in Chase Me. Also the Ghosthunter is happy when he finally finds their photo (while he already had one. So I guess magic doesn't work on photo copies). Once he found their photo, he was able to put spells on them in Good Night. If you are ever going to watch the TEASER to Full Moon, you'll again see photos and a bewitched person. And here we see that Dreamcatcher has opened their own little photo shop. How convenient 😈 We also see Siyeon spontaneously combust a photo, while smiling. This brings me to my 3rd point. Thirdly, Dreamcatcher might very well not be good people. So, we hear a doorbell and later see that a woman has entered. The woman turns into a spider and takes out Yoohyeon. We see Handong pinned down and Jiu being chased. Since we don't see either the lady nor a spider again, she either left or possessed Yoohyeon. The others try everything to save Yoohyeon. The spirit leaving her might be that they successfully got rid of the spirit possessing her, yet at the same time trapping Yoohyeon in a nightmare (the portal closes). Another indicator that they were partly succesful is that Yoohyeon is able to open her eyes in the end, yet is still on the closed side of the portal. Jiu feels responsible of Yoohyeon's terrible situation (as she was the one bringing in the spider in Fly High in the first place) which is represented by Jiu grabbing Yoohyeon's neck. You and I, Yoohyeon and Jiu. What Yes, you have pointed out how good their clothes look in every mv 😅 (and you're right), but I'll give you some slack here since this is the first mv where they are individually styled. It's also the first mv where they aren't together (probably not a coincidence, since kpop doesn't do coincidences). Yoohyeon is trapped (stuck inside that room) and having looped nightmares / is unable to wake up. The others are searching for her. So they probably have also entered the nightmare realm, and went after Yoohyeon. At the end of You and I they are also on the closed side of the portal. Everyone is in a confusing place while Jiu is still thinking about finding Yoohyeon. Another indicator of the guilt she feels. The appearance of the book with the flower is a bit of a mystery to me. Could be a memory, or a wish for it, or the nightmare taunting them, etc. Piri Always nice when people look up what a piri is themselves. To me it is proof of genuine interest. 👍 Yes, it's a flute, but one that was used for signaling danger. I think Yoohyeon finds one and uses it to warn the others. While the others are all having looped nightmares, Yoohyeon is trying to bring them together (she's already in the white/neutral room). I believe it's actually her that is reaching through the wall for Siyeon, grabbing Gahyeon, and grabbing Dami. And, like you said, in the end they have found each other, but are still stuck. Dreamcatcher doesn't really do good endings 🙂 An interesting callback is that Handong is having a nightmare with ticking clocks, while in Chase Me she already mentioned she "doesn't want to tick-tock" 😄 It doesn't seem to be related to her associated nightmare "Scopophobia" though, which is the fear of being stared at. To me, there aren't that many references to their associated nightmares at all, but most are in Breaking Out. I hope you'll be able to read this and that this will have clarified some things for you. Anyway, looking forward to your next Dreamcatcher reaction 👍

You And I is more how Yoohyeon met the Queen again and got possessed/trapped in nightmare. So the others were trying to save her, and got themselves trapped in their individual nightmares. What, that tells us the nightmares that they were in. So yes, they were in a loop. Yes, Jiu was always running, searching for Yoohyeon. She actually found her but couldn't reach her. Piri, is also showing their nightmares but different ones. I think they were also searching for the flute to break their nightmares but the trap they were in was so strong it entrapped them even more. For the ending, they found each other but still strapped in the nightmare. At least they were together. I left details of the stories because of many theories, i just point the obvious ones and organize what the story is. The storyline is still interesting even after several years have passed. And the songs, they are still great. Not bored although i have listened to them so so many times. Now that the nightmare has ended, we will go to standalone songs (except Breaking Out). Looking forward to it.

Piri and Deja Vu are Dreamcatcher's masterpieces. Their long time songwriting duo broke up before the writing of Bon Voyage, so I don't think they'll ever make anything like these two songs again. You'll have to watch Breaking Out to see the resolution of their tragedy. Korean mythology says that if you are trapped in a nightmare you will wake up if you hear the sound of the piri. To understand what happened with Breaking Out you need to know about the tragic history of Korean and Japan. Because of the brutal occupation of Korea by Japan in 1915 and it's use of Korean men as slave labor and the women as 'comfort women' in Army brothels during WW2, there is still a lot of bad feeling between the two countries. South Korean law still forbids the broadcast of anything in Japanese language. Breaking Out is in Japanese language, so most South Koreans never saw the MV. It couldn't be promoted on the music and variety shows. That's how it got split off from the rest of the Nightmare series. Foreign fans saw it, but most Korean Somnies did not.

First of, I really enjoyed watching your video and I watched the entirety of it. Second, you are both on the right track. So smart! Applause!! Dreamcatcher likes to do video with open ending so you can interpret things how you like it based on what story is given to you. Which makes it very fun for discussion. In You and I, they were trying to save Yoohyeon by using a portal. The Spider lady pretended to be Yoohyeon which is why in the end Jiu choked the fake Yoohyeon. The real one is stuck there. I feel that in Piri, the mirror that SuA was looking through wasn't real per say, I like to think it can be used as a portal to get out. But who knows? Breaking out is the next alternative ending song and it's also very good. Funny how Dreamcatcher also have songs called Trap, In the Frozen, Break The Wall(All are very good B side tracks) but it's like being stuck...they're almost always in a nightmare of some sort but always have each other. They're Dreamcatcher and the dreamscape is their playground. Weaving a fun tale for us to enjoy and to decipher. Fun fact, the trailer to What was amazing. JiU and Yoohyeon was in the American desert.

Time has passed again after the ladies escaped the mirror and torched the hotel so the guy could not escape the same way they did (the events of 'Endless Night'; the book is on the ground where it got dropped but the forest is gone, taken over by a wall of some kind. There is a flower growing up through the pages of the book so it MUST be a while later and there must be some magic in the Book for the to have happened). The ladies set up a new life for themselves, living together in a nice house if not a mansion. They are Witches, of course. Siyeon apparently specializes in the magic associated with manipulating people by using their pictures. She can curse people who don't pay up (during the entire series, nobody ever said these ladies were GOOD witches...we have been rooting for 'the bad girls' the whole time...). The Spider God realizes the ladies are free of the trap after they had been stuck in place for decades. She tracks them down because they are still dabbling in Magic. The doorbell rings at the beginning of 'You And I' and it is the Spider God in the guise of a woman who wants her picture taken. How fortuitous that it is Yooohyeon taking the picture! So Yoohyeon gets cursed a second time, in a different way than the first time. She's separated from the rest of the ladies. JiU still feels responsible for the entire thing so of course she is again looking for Yoohyeon and trying to fix the situation. Apparently fixing it requires all of the ladies to die. They all end up in that White Dimension but they get separated again in the maze when Yoohyeon wakes up. Most of the Nightmare Series, is seen from JiU's POV than anybody else's. But Piri is from Yoohyeon's POV more than anybody else's. If you notice, she does not get kidnapped, nothing really happens to Yoohyeon in that MV when stuff had been happening to her in all the others. That's because SHE is the one kidnapping the other ladies. It's her arm reaching through the grate to get to Siyeon. BUT this freaks Siyeon out, she has no idea what is going on so she runs and hides. It's like Yoohyeon is finally awake, aware, lucid. She realizes that her friends are paying dearly for her own dumb mistake. She's desperately trying to fix it. After 'kidnapping' some of the ladies, Yoohyeon puts them in one place together, to wait for a little bit so she can go get the rest. She eventually gathers everybody together so they are all FINALLY united after the mess she made for everybody. The ONE problem now is, they are all dead. This is an Afterlife of sorts, maybe it's The Grey Zone, The In-Between, Purgatory, whatever-you-want-to-call-it. It's not Paradise and it's not Hell, it could go either way. I am SURE that you will like (if not love) the Alternate Ending song called 'Breaking Out'. From my perspective, that one takes place at the same time as the events shown in 'Piri'. But (imo) the story is back to being told mostly from JiU's POV. I think it ties things up rather nicely. :)

I think it would be good timing for you guys to react to their first fan song 'Full Moon', which was released just before 'You and I'. It has a minute long special promotional MV (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKrCg6eFg7-laq8si=kDlDjABSl1rIzapS) which shows the origins of DC, with part of the song as teaser. It chronologically takes place way earlier than 'Fly High'. It also has a official video with the full song (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWLSm5aIic6oa8ksi=FnhJdrKbxJ2PWHN-) that was released few months before the 'You and I' comeback with choreography. There is a fan theory that SuA was the spider queen all along. Watch the whole MV sequence from 6:47 where SuA appears at the same scene/set during the chorus where the spider queen was sitting for the photo, which I think is a visual storytelling clue. There are more, like her sitting at the head seat at the table during the dinner scene in 'Fly High' MV and everyone following her. In What MV, her standing behind the danger tapes, etc + her being unironically referred to as the "queen of DC" 😅
