Very well detailed review. Thanks fot that. Here, in Italy and Europe as well, we have a lot of restrictions for what concerns pollution and the result is bikes that make the same sound of a toaster. Your bike sounds great w/ the Mistrals. While I don't think you'll get any complaints from the authorities or neighbors, I did notice the disclaimer on the supplier's site for use of the bike with the Mistrals, this is usually reserved for parts which don't comply w/ U.S. emissions requirements. 10 lbs loss is really impressive, it's very tough to cut that amount of weight, makes the price easier to swallow:-) Find some tight twisty back roads and enjoy the new sound.
@markfortin82863 жыл бұрын
It sounds great with the baffles in. You can even hear it's out of tune with them out. The improved sound is pleasing, and knocking 10+ pounds off the bike in one go is a big benefit, too.

Great video and attention to detail! If I get an 850 V7, I'll be watching this again, and I subscribed because of this video. I have an 18 V7III Special with long Mistrals. The motorcycle has 18,000 miles, the Mistrals 16,000. Mapping isn't required on mine with the DB killers out, but I also have an unusual (in the US) E3 compliant version with cats that I got from Germany because they were cheaper. No remapping was required, although I did try an aftermarket map briefly. The sound is deep, and I measured decibels but don't remember the numbers... maybe I'll make a video about them. After two years, they look like new and sound great. I'm sure yours will be the same.

Am sure I read somewhere that a 'get around' for the remap was as simple as disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then connecting it back up with the new exhausts on - the ECU will then 're learn' the parameters for correct fuelling.

as far as i know, Mistrals are the only ones on the market for the 2021 v7 850 as of right now. I looked at a lot of the previous year models and the different exhausts on those, and the mistrals were always one of the better sounding ones. That and price and availability played a factor. lol

Any thoughts after almost a year with the Mistrals? I plan on using with the DBkillers in and I was thinking if the engine runs well and whether they get annoyingly loud on longer rides.
@dreamreaver232 жыл бұрын
after a full year with the mistrals, i have no complaints, and am enjoying them even more as the bike really set's in. the sound is nice, and audible in the lower speeds, once you get up to highway speeds of around 70-75 mph, they are still audible but not very loud, and definitely not overbearing. the wind is much louder than them, i still would like to try with the db killers out, i just don't want to flash and remap in order to test it.

@sirrealistoftheparanoiacsh91823 жыл бұрын
@@dreamreaver23 I kept them in. Taking them out makes the engine run especially lean. My mechanic was telling me he had a couple V7s come in for an exhaust swap and they wanted the DBs out and they were back within a month with issues of rough idling, stalling, etc. I would say if you are going to take them out, just upgrade the headers to mistrals as well and buy the ECU reflash from GuzziTech and just remap the entire system with a custom tune to suit the new hardware.

"N.B. For the installation of the exhausts, in case of possession of the Special Edition version, it is necessary to purchase the relative specific brackets " I read this on the Italian website. Could this be why you have a gap between the mufflers and head pipes ? (A wild guess, since you probably had not missed this)

@fredarthur-art7 ай бұрын
I talked to mistral support. They told me for the "850 special" (NOT "Special Edition") you do not need an extra bracket and that the exhaust can be fitted without a gap - you just need to push it a little further in. (Funny thing they have the gaps visible on their own photos on their product page.)
@reborn35597 ай бұрын
@@fredarthur-art If they say so. I don't think it goes further in, plus you need the tightening brackets to be in the right place
@fredarthur-art7 ай бұрын
I will find out soon. Here's the answer I got from them "it is solvable :) It is just a mounting mistake. When you are pushing the exhausts inside, you will feel like a step and think you cannot push it inside anymore, instead, there is almost one cm more so you will just have to gently push inside a little more"

How does one get the ECU modified? Does a dealer need a dyno? Can they do it directly or does it need something like a Power Commander? Also, are the cats in the mufflers of the OEM exhausts? Usually, mfgs put them in the header pipes.
@dreamreaver233 жыл бұрын
hey buddy, there are tools that you can buy online that allow you to do the ECU Remapping, but to get an ecu map, you need to pay money to different people who have them available. the most used for moto guzzi is Beetle Maps, you can find some maps and info on how to do it on Griso.org. as for the location of the CAT, at 1:44 they are on the left side of the screen, on this moto guzzi, they are after the header pipe and before the silencer, i guess technically the cat and silencer are one piece.. so any change to the exhaust removes the CAT.
