It'll probably be good. There's still a whole lot of source material they can use, and the first one was decent (I haven't seen it, but I've heard it was a good movie.) A sequel definitely makes sense.

The sequels are pretty good but I feel like the more recent story plot with Mr. Snake being evil is kind of dragging out to be way too long and over complicated. It can be a little hard to follow

Unless I missed it, you haven't talked about the synopsis of The Bad Guys 2 where the titular gang is having trouble getting acceptance by the crowd, but then an all-female gang of criminals ropes them into doing "one last job". Granted that may be all we know about the plot so far but I think a better plot would be that the Bad Guys still have trouble finding acceptance, but when Mr. Wolf hears that Diane got recruited by the International League of Heroes from the seventh book to do a special mission, he makes a plan for him and his gang to complete this special mission themselves in the hopes that it will get them recruited into the International League of Heroes and ultimately prove they are no longer bad guys.

I'm Optimistic actually, the premise certainly has alot of room to grow and won't compare it to megamind, that movie had such a wide gulf from inception that it was always going to be tricky to make it good, Bad Guys being much more recent helps, along with the natural flexibility of a group of scoundrels continuing adventures)

Honestly, here's how I feel about a Bad Guys 2: As long as the plot isn't absolute trash, and the don't screw up the characters, I'm going to enjoy it. Especially if they're basing it off of the books, it should be at least pretty good. Either way, what brings people back is well developed characters, not a perfect story, and I don't think we can deny that the characters were VERY well done. Personally, I adore them all, and would love to just simply see more of them in general.

I am now the happiest girl in the world. Not because this announcement surprised me, but because I WAS RIGHT!!! I always knew there was a sequel in the works! I knew it since 2022! Okay, it was more like hoping before I found little tidbits from various posts made by crew members. I deduced that a DreamWorks sequel usually comes out 3.5 years after its predecessor. Said predecessor would also have to be successful, which "The Bad Guys" was in its initial run. With this evidence, a sequel was pretty much in the bag. I even started a prediction sheet about it around this time last year! I have been a fan of "The Bad Guys" ever since I first learned of the movie's development in October 2021. I was charmed by the books and became even more so by the movie. I am not into the heist genre, per se, but the characters absolutely won me over! I fell so much in love with them that I stomached watching "A Very Bad Holiday", which I admit is lackluster in certain areas (but, hey, I still quote it from time to time). Even if the TV show (which according to a few sources is also in production) has the same quality as the special, I would gladly watch it as well. That's how passionate I am about the franchise. I do understand your concerns about the quality of "The Bad Guys 2". I'm also concerned about how it will compare to the first film. I did, however, notice a pattern with DreamWorks and their sequels. It's usually the immediate sequels (AKA the "2"s) that are a step up from the originals. Usually. Sometimes, those sequels can be misses, but it's often the "3"s and/or "4"s that are more misses than the "2"s. While I can't say that the franchise will always be faithful to the book series, I do admit (and hope) that the crew can take elements from those books. All in all, VERY EXCITED to see what the sequel will become! A little scared, maybe, but excited all the same!

As someone who never heard of the books and just saw this movie last week, I'm amazed how under the radar it seems. The only animated movie I can even think of having seen in theaters in the past few years was The Boy and the Heron, most other studios have just been putting out stuff that looks underwhelming. So I really hope that this is an opportunity for them to make another good one.

Recent failures in animation from all studios is mostly in the writing department. Maybe gutting the studio *also* kills the visuals, but if they can't even get the writing right, no amount of rockstar hypercompetent animation will save a project. I'm... not hopeful on this one, but we'll see.

For the record I wasn't really a fan of the first movie but I did think it was good I really liked Diane foxington as the Crimson paw and quite possibly that was a Twist that I did not see coming personally I think they're going to bring Diane back for the sequel and if they do I'm interested to see what she'll do in the movie my theory is that Diane is now a member of the bad guys and she basically lives with them now I'm interested to know what's this movie is going to be about and I'm also interested to know if we'll get a brand new villain for the sequel it would be kind of lame if they just had marmalade as the villain twice so I'm interested to know if we'll get a brand new villain for the sequel
