I'm a little confused. Are you saying with my homocysteine of 13.5, I should simply supplement, or could benefit from altering my diet, or both? I have degenerative disc disease, and going magnesium supplementation and keto have changed my life (seemingly, so has benfotiamine.) The higher my ketones, the generally better I do. I do have flair-ups, and I take all kinds of supposedly anti-inflammatory substances. WRT eggs (and apparently beef) would I benefit from more or less? Is there a list you trust? PS: You probably know my doctor in Denver, and he didn't say anything about my homocysteine level. 😕 I'm also trying to lower my iron (or rather, RBC, hemoglobin and hematocrit, which are all three high) so I give blood every 10 weeks.

I eat at least 2 eggs everyday and my cholesterol is: Total cholesterol was 169, Triglycerides 42, HDL 64, VLDL 9, & LDL 96. I just had my Aortic Valve replaced due to a 4-5mm hole in it caused by endocarditis at some time in my life. I’m 61 years old and have lost 150lbs by eating low carb, IF, & OMAD. I went from 321lbs to 170lbs in 2 years, and have maintained it for 2 years - so a total of 4 years. My heart surgeon was amazed at how clean my arteries were. If I hadn’t lost the 150lbs, I don’t know if I would’ve bounced back from the open heart surgery. I’m 13 weeks post surgery and I can perform dumbbell training & cardio training.

Thank you for recognizing this. My little brother came home from school and said they were teaching him that whole milk was the least healthiest, less healthy than reduced fat milk. I have no degrees but it’s my understanding that you need the fat and the least amount of pasteurization. More fat so there’s more vitamin and mineral absorption, and pasteurization kills more good than bad. Leaving behind lots of DEAD bacteria from pasteurization. Anybody remember when fda was contaminating milk at supermarkets to force them into pasteurization processes? Eventually putting local farmers out of business due to “safety” standards. One time they actually got brought to court because of their evil doings, so when they LOST their case, they just contaminated the same supermarkets milk until they could no longer afford the court fees. It’s almost as if the FDA/EPA are forms of control beyond our comprehension all the way down the the very studies they choose to base their regulations on. You even see it with wild game management in some states with pigs, wolves, and other animals

@@nenadcveleUnfortunately in this particular case the numbers he shows seem to be misinterpreted. The only study I could find that compares whole eggs to egg whites (van Vliet 2017) did show that whole egg consumption resulted in more muscle synthesis, but they did not show that 50% number, and more importantly while they did match protein content between interventions, they did not match the fat content (i.e. the egg-white only group consumed zero fats), which probably explains the difference. In any kind of balanced diet the egg whites would probably be consumed with healthy fats, likely resulting in comparable protein utilization. Also, looking at the comments it seems that most viewers missed the part where healthy whole eggs only come from pasture-raised (not even free-range) hens that are not fed soy and corn (or at least are fed high-oleic varieties of soy and corn), which are exceedingly rare. The vast majority of people eating 4 or more whole eggs a day receive excessive amounts of linoleic acid (omega 6 PUFA) with those eggs and that is not healthy!

My dad has over 20000 chickens on a 120 hectare certified organic citrus farm. They eat a completely organic non-gmo feed. He designed is own mobile home where 300 chickens stay closed in and safe at night to protect them from predators. The mobile home also has close to 50 private “rooms” which each chicken can creep in and lay an egg. They sleep from 6pm - 5am. During the day they roam underneath the citrus trees and hunt the little bugs, eat, drink water, take a sand baths, chase each other and rest. The eggs are sooooo beautiful and quite large. Not to mention extremely tasty. We call them the happiest chickens in South Africa. I believe they truly are because none of them are scared of human interaction.

I've gone to a commercial "organic free range" egg producer barns weekly, and not once did I ever see a chicken outside. Their excuse is that the chickens don't want to go out, yet my personal chickens at home nearly murder me trying to get out everyday. In Canada, only a couple companies run the whole show and run the boards, so they basically do whatever they want, however deceptively they like to do it.

I’ve been eating 4 eggs a day for several years now. At 42 years old, standing 165 cm tall, and weighing 48 kg, eggs have become my primary source of protein since I don’t consume meat. I feel fantastic - energized, focused, and rarely feel the need to snack. I skip breakfast and maintain a lean, healthy physique. I sleep soundly and have enough stamina to hike mountains almost daily. Cholesterol isn’t a concern for me at all. Dr. Ekberg’s insights are absolutely spot-on. A big thanks and greetings from Norway!

I’ve been eating five soft boiled (or sunny side up), eggs a day for the last 8+ years and I make sure that they are organic pasture, raised chickens. I make sure that they are soft boiled and not hard boiled so the cholesterol is in a liquid format for better digestion and absorption. I also incorporate about a gallon of Alkalized and ionized Water a day, as well as a mixed berry/spinach and plant protein-based shake that also has 2 tablespoons of Braggs apple cider vinegar. This has helped me maintain healthy regimen as well as my weight.

So happy to hear your take on eggs. I remember the cholesterol scare that started in the late 70's but never really trusted it. As a young athlete I was very interested in the role of protein and each amino acid in athletic performance. One book on amino acids had a chapter entitled "The Much Maligned Egg" that basically made many of the same points you do. So, I have long included quality eggs in my diet and have never had problems as a result.

A tip on a totally different topic. Lots of people use canned beans but they have trouble digesting them because of the lectins in the beans. Soaking them overnight is a great way to reduce lectins (these cause bloating and gas) but pressure cooking them after soaking also reduces a lot of the lectins. If you don't want to do that the only brand of canned beans that are presoaked and pressure cooked before canning are Eden beans.

November last year I had my blood tests done. And though my blood pressure was normal, and cholesterol a tiny bit too high, I was told that I was prediabetic. I decided enough was enough. For nine months I've been working out daily, cut out practical all cereals, legumes and starchy vegetables (except oats, I love my oats) and eaten a diet containing basically of meat, vegetables and dairy, while counting my calorie intake. Eggs has been my go-to protein. I've gone through 1,5-2 trays a week (15 per tray) as it was the cheapest. Both the eggs and meat comes from a local farm that raise their animals on pastures. Two months ago I had my blood tested again: Blood pressure even lower, cholesterol within normal ranges, the amount of blood lipid more than halved and no longer prediabetic. I've also lost nearly 30kg, and is only 8kg from my target weight. Once I reach that goal I'll stop CICO and do rolling fasts for real. A lot of the info I collected before fixing my diet came from you, and made it much easier for me to process exactly what was going on when you eat different foods.

" . . . choke on their toast and orange juice . . ." Priceless! Also in this presentation is a better framework for choosing protein sources, especially for preventing sarcopenia. Looks like it's even more important to get pastured eggs than pastured meat! And I can save money by discontinuing krill oil supplements, since just one quality egg has 4x as much DHA as one little red softgel. (The astaxanthin they supply can be perhaps replaced by a suitable exposure to sunlight-induced production of melatonin at the mitochondrial level -- my only regret is that no one can turn a money profit from my daily walk in the fresh air and sunshine, even on overcast days.) Recently learned another way to do up the scrambled eggs with the same gently heated principles in mind. Start with eggs warmer than refrigerator-cold if possible. Won't hurt them a bit to be out on the counter for an hour or so. Then, whisk together with salt and rest for 15 minutes (improves flavor and alters protein matrix favorably before cooking). Before adding to the pan, add your cold butter to the eggs -- diced small enough to help keep the mix from heating too quickly. Finally, frequently stirring while cooking and removal from pan while still "too wet" -- the carryover heat will finish them just right, as your technique improves.

I take in usually 3-4 raw eggs daily, blended into full fat coconut milk. I get my eggs from a local organic Amish family. They have 100 hens that are outside pecking around the yard any day that isn’t terrible weather. These are some of the best eggs I’ve ever had and I’ve grown up on home raised eggs! I get 10 doz per week lately and I water glass and dehydrate them for long term storage. Don’t want to ever run out! I am about to start another egg fast. I did one a few years ago when I was very ill from acute tick diseases. It helped tremendously. I did 6 raw eggs daily in full fat coconut milk. I’ll do similar again. Choline is necessary to heal the cell membrane & mitochondria which are damaged by toxic indoor mold (which destroyed my health before I got the tick bite that took me over the edge and nearly killed me). My health crashed from indoor mold January 2013 then April 2016 I got the tick diseases that nearly killed me several times over the next several years.

I’ve been on keto for about 10 months. It’s been mostly clean keto with plenty of vegetables, little bit of berries, grass fed beef, pasture raised eggs (I have my own chickens), and so on. What I may or may not want to eat as I’m unsure is daily Greek plain full fat yogurt, kefir (which I make my own from organic grass fed cows milk), and heavy cream in my coffee, and lots of organic peanut butter (peanuts and salt). I don’t drink, don’t smoke, I exercise daily. My cholesterol went from 209 to 267 in six months. My LDL went from 110 to 185. HDL and triglycerides didn’t change. So something seems to be off about what you say about cholesterol unless I’m being affected by my increase in red meat and dairy?

Lean mass hyper responder. If you are lean, and keep carbs low, your LDL will go up. Not a big deal as long as your triglycerides are low.
@scotthamlin9718
@scotthamlin9718 2 жыл бұрын
Also many people who eat a true lo carb diet have a higher LDL because LDL is the transporter of fat through our body to feed our cells energy. It’s not a problem at all and isn’t even the right marker to look at. Just by mainstream medicine because they can sell a drug to lower it. If you fall for this and take a drug to lower LDL there is no improvement in all cause mortality, and many studies show low LDL to equate to higher all cause mortality . Look at Dr Ken Berry videos or especially some videos by Dave Feldman. Sounds like you are doing fine as is. I would not change anything.

I had unsubscribed to the mainstream thinking about cholesterol and I was really ready to see great things on my panel, but I was thrown for a loop when the only thing that changed was my LDL went way up. Thank You Harold Mack. Maybe 267 is the number you are supposed to be. We have to get past the idea that less is better. I'm not saying that it is good or bad though. We need to look at the big picture. What is happening to inflammation. CRP, homocysteine, insulin, C-peptide, LDL size etc. It could also be that you are having a reaction to one or more of those "healthy" foods. Even if I cover them on my videos and even if they are super foods for 90% of people, they can affect you differently. Triglycerides going from 199 to 113 is great, but still a bit high. If you are on LCHF, I would expect to see triglycerides in the 50-80 range. Probably some insulin resistance lingering.

I either fry the eggs, or make scrambled eggs with sauteed greens (Swiss chard is my favorite) or omelettes with poblano chiles, cheese and chopped ham. And usually don't eat much lunch.

Same here. Have been eating organic eggs from our local producer (they keep them in these neat little mobile carts and just move the cart from one place to another) for the last 20 years. I eat two or three a day. Before the pandemic, I had an ultrasound of the carotid arteries - and happy to report that everything is in tip top shape. But I also stay far away from vegetable oils (except extra virgin olive oil, as it's made from the fruit and not the seed) and keep sugar intake to an absolute minimum. Two things associated with poor artery health.

I was born in Romania, my grandma and their peers have very good health, usually desease is due to hard physical labor not heart disease. I asked my grandma if people were dying of heart desease when she was young and she said she doesn't remember a sigle case. Now their diet was extremely fat and would be considered atrocious today. Since the lack of refrigeration food would be stored in lard or salt. Animal fat would he used too kook and as a replacement from bread. My grandparents from my dad side eat old School, lots of lard, meat, pickled vegetables, raw milk cheese and yogurt. My grandad is 95 according to what I was taught in school he should have died a few decades ago from heart failure. Meanwhile my dad's generation ( 55 now) has 1/3 if them already dead from cancer and stroke, due to the magik of modern cuisine. Refined crabs, lots of sugar, processed and nutrient void food.

It's the sugars and processed foods for sure. The refined carbs if you don't eat too much of it shouldn't be a problem, especially if you're active. But people eat way way too much sugar these days, and canned processed foods, I'm one of them, I know. I'm trying to change that.
@dumyjobby

@@robmen1402 i was like that also. I remember putting so much sugar in coffe that it would be saturated, and i would drink about 3 coffee a day, and lots and lots of carbs because in school they thought that what was bad was fat and carbs were a good replacement. It's about 4 years since I don't use sugar at all, i drink even coffee without it. But I'm not too severe, at a party I'll eat cake and drink a glass of coca cola, It's just in rare special occasions. The beautiful thing is that our sense of taste changes based on what we consume. When I stopped putting sugar into coffee it was very unpleasant, after a while i got used to it and now i like coffe without sugar and i enjoy the bitterness, with sugar it tastes weird and unpleasant.

Love, Love, Love eggs! We are fortunate to have our own chickens and they are free to run around our place. Also, many cities are allowing up to five backyard hens that can be housed in cute little chicken coops that can be moved around the yard to get fresh grass and bugs. Backyard hens are great pets! And kids love to collect the eggs and learn the importance of animal care in relation to our food 😍. Thank you so much for explaining so thoroughly. I always learn so much.👍🙂
