I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. kzbin.infoUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.

Well done Russel, good job on this review, you kept my attention throughout the demonstration and were very thorough walking us through the many different features and settings. I have added the Dremel Workstation to my wishlist (so that my wife and kids can stop complaining about not knowing what to buy me for those special occasions) along with the 36"Flexshaft attachment and the Multi-Pro Chuck. Started repairing/restoring vintage pocketwatches. This will be my next piece of kit. Tip for you: so at work I use an industrial size drill press as a drum sander. Going to apply that here with this at home like you did, but because the dremel workstation rotates, I'll use it locked in at 90 degrees vertical, and the table. Thanks for great vid! Like others, I got a lot out of this video. I've been slowly taking a real interest in Maker projects and starting small, like with a Dremel-based workshop would suit my living arrangements. I found your video to be excellent as it answered one key question: Do people that actually USE the thing, think it's worth it, even at the low price, or is it total junk with a brand name. Very good video to explain the workstation and helped make up my mind that I can use the dremel to drill leather for sewing, I have several piller drill station's but need to use 1.5mm drill bit on leather others to big to see up close the imprints left by the stiching wheel to drill into. I own one of these and love it for my scale modeling type of use, works like a 3rd hand to hold the dremel tool at many varied angles and as a small drill press. The only thing is I wish there was a way or adapter to be able to attach the dremel tool to the workstation and then attach the dremel 90 degree drive adapter at the same time. This would then allow the dremel to be used as a mini chop saw for small brass tubing and music wire by utilizing the drill press action of the workstation to lower the cutoff wheel. I find when trying to cut longer pieces without the 90 degree adapter then because of tool interference you cannot get a square 90 degree cut and with the adapter you really at times need extra hands to be really accurate with your cuts. Being able to use the work station as a mini chop saw would be awesome and add so much to its versatility in my use anyway. For the money though this is a great addition for your dremel tool arsenal in my opinion!

Thank you for this great demo. Can you tell me, what is the measurement between the end of the chuck (when the Dremel is in) and the base surface? I want to drill into a 113mm workpiece and am unsure if this would be possible. Thanks a lot!

I have just been out and checked the capacity with the multi chuck fitted and it is around 175mm Kate. To achieve this I had to raise the inner tube and slide the 'crows nest' tool rest off the outer tube onto the inner. This allowed me to use the full length of the outer tube. I hope my explanation is OK, it is a little difficult to put down in words, even though it is a simple task! :-)

Hi Russell. Thanks. That was excellent. May I ask one thing please? I realise it's not ideally suited to drilling holes through small pieces of stone (like your piece), or glass, but this is what I've used my Dremel for to good effect recently. Can you please give me any advice or tips as to how best to do this by using the 220 as well, as it would potentially make precise and safer fine drilling more possible? I've just unboxed and assembled my 220 and I wonder how I can adapt it for such use. Drilling stone, shells and sea glass to insert clasps for necklace pendants. P.S. I've also seen a video on Amazon with a water spray accessory (????), for cooling the diamond bits whilst drilling. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Russell. Wayne.

I think the workstation will make drilling those materials much easier and give you way more control Wayne. You need to find a way of holding the workpiece securely so that you can position it correctly. I would try something like a mini drill press vice: amzn.to/3g2J3lX As you could use the pins to grip irregular objects and also work with straight workpieces if you stuck some rubber on the vice faces. I reckon you could use a normal kitchen spray for cooling, just have it set as a jet, not spray. :-)

Sorry Mark, The router attachment will only have a maximum working depth of around 20m. I would look at a serrated knife to cut out the shape of the compartments and cut away the insides, A multitool might work, or a hot foam cutter. :-)

I understand what you were thinking about and it is a very good idea Alvarez! The only issue is that the plywood would need to be thicker and you would have to disassemble the base to fit and remove it which is more time consuming. Still, it is a very good idea that I had not considered! :-)

The workstation does not have a lock on the handle so it is not possible without some homemade system. The router attachment will allow this though. :-)

Hey mate! Thanks for the tips in this great vid! (And in the 335 one too). To properly say thanks I thought you might like to know the following thoughts I had while watching: :) I get that your set in your ways ("shortcuts" etc.) And although you're mindful enough to tell us to exercise proper PPE... I would really feel less nervous for you while watching if we could get that power cable up off the desk and out off the way or at least more "well-managed". I'm not "taking the piss" or anything, rather to the contrary I simply aim to improve the quality of your videos, presentation through demonstration... After all it's the small things. Tiny details which make the difference! Anyway, as I'm currently designing and preparing a build of my own workstation, I thought you might pause for thought on my idea to have power outlet options (extention/surge boards) up high, on a rail above everything else on my bench. During my research/sourcing stage I discovered these guys: "Makerbeam" and although still deciding to order something custom from them or fashion my own similar but much simpler solution... Ive made this too wordy, sorry... But just let me know if that makes sense to you and you understand, please?

I agree entirely! I have two 5m 6 gang extensions that hang from the ceiling, one above my bench and the other above the area where my bandsaw and mitre saw are located. I just screwed a couple of brass hooks into the joists and ran the extension leeds, up and across to the hooks. I took the bench extension down a while ago when Ineeded some extension leads for another issue and just never put it back! My entire electrical system is also protected by a RCD which is situated before the consumer unit and there is also a second RCD in the garage so I have two protecting the workshop area. :-)

That's really cool - I just happened to notice the one time you mustn't have been using it lol! - ALthough, I do see it a lot in youtube vids (or similar) that's why I had thought to add it to my workbench build :) MIne will be a little more electronics on one side of the room and music making stuff one the other (not ideal but there's space restrictions for me unfortunately) I was even thinking of having a sliding microphone bar with a Array of mics attached, not unlike those you used to see at press conferences back in the day! :) Anyway... I'm planning on adding it on to the top of my workbench at this point, mounting the vertical pieces to the sides (or legs) of the table before looking at further reinforcement to the table top... I was just sharing all this in case you wanted a new tutorial build idea - If you don't already having one showing off your existing setup you mentioned(?) Or, maybe you can point me to a similar vid by a peer? Or... something? It'd be great to get any ideas as im not fully set on the top&sides idea... With the aluminium base, and the travel maxed out, is there any chance of drilling into my table while working with this tool? Secondly, I'm trying to flip the dremel 90• so as to be able to use it as a saw for slicing wood into sliced bread like thickness by pushing the wood against the saw bit, of course, it would require flipping the workpiece upside down to cut through it, if you know what I mean. Will this tool tilted 90• do that?

It is certainly possible to drill into your table if you are not careful. The depth stop could easily be set up to prevent this though. As for cutting the wood, I am not sure what you are trying to achieve. It sounds as if you would need to make some sort of jig to carry out the task you want to attempt. :-)

@@Sir-Kay Over the years I have made lots of jigs to facilitate difficult cuts on projects. It just takes some thought and often requires 'thinking outside of the box.' There is usually a workable solution and more often than not is is pretty simple. :-)

Can you plunge the dremel then lock it in that position, i.e. use the lever to lower the drill bit and lock it inplace? Would be very handy, many years ago (1982 ish) I bought a Black and Decker Woodworker (their cheap router) and found that it had a 43mm collar just like a drill, so I bought a drill stand that could lock at any depth fixe a plywood base on with a 6.4mm (1/4 inch) metal dowel in it and used the stand/woodworker combination as an overhead copy router, all I had to do was make a template for what I wanted out of 1/4" plywood and stick it to the underneath of my workpiece then use a 6.4mm (1/4 inch) router bit to cut the wood to the shape of the template, made some lovely contoured mahogany table legs that way. Anyway, I thought it might be very useful for the Dremel too, but it needs to lock in place after plunging

No, it does not have that facility Terry. The Dremel can be dropped and locked in position using the post clamp at the back of the drill assembly (1:07 on the video), but it is not a very controlled way of achieving what you want! :-)

Hi, could be possible to use with Dremel 575 (L adaptor). I need to cut tiny metal pieces but with enough precision using dremel ez speedclic. Thank you, great channel.

No, you cannot use the adapter. You could use the dremel without the adapter and tilt it so that it is horizontal. :-)
