This looks good, but two suggestions from someone who does daily nasal irrigation. 1) Do not use tap water, even if boiled. Use bottled water. 2) A saline solution is used for nasal irrigation because of the burning that occurs from using pure water. If this garlic method burns, you may need to add a saline packet (sold specifically for nasal irrigation).

Maybe I missed it, but it's very important to use a pinch of pharmaceutical grade salt, other wise, it's going to be very unpleasant. Make sure it dissolves completely in the lukewarm water before rinsing. And you might want of use up to 2 cups of water, in order to ensure a thorough rinse of both nostrils. When done properly, this is a very effective way of beating a sinus infection.

For people struggling with burning: try to use filtered water - no chlorine, yes? Think about it: burning is either a matter of chlorine or PH (or another substance that one puts in it.) That is what the salt is for, and/or baking soda. I've been flushing for over 20 years. I think in the beginning I used tap water. More salt needed for that but I don't remember well because I've been using filtered water, of any kind, for most of the time. Even Brita or something. I am using 1tsp of salt for 18oz water through my 10-stage water filter. If I use purified water, I use less salt but add a pinch or 2 of baking soda. Purified water is acidic. Another trick: 1 drop of Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) oil in the water, mixed well. I prefer to pour the water from my measuring cup into a bowl, back and forth a few times to try to atomize the oil as much as possible. A small whisk works well, too. Stirring until all of the salt is dissolved, with or without oil. Normally I use a regular spoon to mix if no oil. WARNING: A friend of mine mixed some GSE in water and flushed. He thought it went so well he put a lot more GSE in the next time. Bad idea! He said it felt like there was a hole being burned into his brain. I can't remember if he had to go to the doctor or not. I'm sure there are also other essential oils and herbs, etc, that could be used for this purpose, but head the warning above. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS start with the tiniest amount, no matter what you're doing because those tissues are sensitive! Even this garlic experiment I would dilute the solution double or more for the 1st time. Triple! It won't hurt to go slow, in fact it might if you don't! ;)

An Old Appalachian remedy was to cut a clove in half and stick half in each ear like ear plugs before going to bed to fight an ear infection. Obviously you need to take care that it can't become lodged in your ear and become hard to remove, but usually a clove is thick enough to seal off the canal like an ear plug and won't get lodged in.

Wow, thanks doc... I need this. I had a cold twice last month, and the recovery was slow. I thought my sinusitis kicked in. Went to ENT doctor and she told me to do nostril flush with NaCL liquid. It really helped me to take out the mucus and I'm getting better. After x-ray, it turned out my sinus is clear. I probably have allergy. I will try this garlic flush.

I took your idea and did my own treatment for my ear infection. I took about 1/3 of a garlic clove and mashed it, then added it to a small amount of mustard oil (about one tablespoon). I took a fork and mixed in the oil and garlic to render the garlic into the mustard oil. I then took that mustard oil mix and dipped cotton swabs in it and cleaned out my ears with it, leaving it in my ears all night. My ears filled up with fluid that night and as I laid in bed I gently massaged my ear tragus with my index finger causing the fluid to drain. My ears drained a lot all night, more than ever before as I kept massaging the tragus causing the viscous liquid to drain. There was a lot of drainage. In the morning my ear infections were much better and even my blurred vision improved some. Garlic is very powerful. Just one treatment has helped a lot. I will continue to use this formula for a while and hopefully I can beat the ear/sinus infection that I have had for several months now. I think I got a fungal infection in my sinuses and ears from cleaning out an RV that had been setting for a few weeks closed up and got mold everywhere. That's just a theory, I don't know for sure. Next I am going to do a nasal flush as you have described but I plan to use distilled water and extract the juice from the garlic without heat that can damage it's properties. I am very pleased with the result from just one treatment. Hopefully, I can use this formula for clearing out the infection that has been stealing my joy and happiness for months now. I think garlic is amazing. I also made a tea with grated garlic and drank a cup of that too along with some a couple cups of Chamomile tea. It's too early to say if I have had complete success, but the first treatment has really drained my ears and cleared out much of the infection. I avoid anti-biotics completely, so I favor the Garlic for it's anti-biotic properties.

Sinus surgery ruined my life. I think about killing myself every day. The surgery gave me nerve damage, nasal valve collapse, and Empty Nose Syndrome--which makes you feel like you are suffocating because the nerves that feel your airflow no longer feel the air. Most people have a deviated septum--but most people don't have breathing issues. That means your deviated septum probably isn't the cause of your congestion--several other things could cause it. And NEVER let them operate on your turbinates--that is the cause of Empty Nose Syndrome. The turbinates are very important to your breathing and should never be touched.
@mellowmike96927 жыл бұрын
The sad truth that most people don't realize it that in some states it is next to impossible to use a doctor. So many people feel safe having surgery because they think "I know the doctor will be careful because he doesn't want to get sued." Nope! In many places, the doctor can ruin your life and just say "Oops, my bad" and move on to destroy someone else. Every lawyer I called told me the SAME thing.
@mellowmike96927 жыл бұрын
You are so right to stay away from doctors. Their job is to make money, not help us. I just found out yesterday that there are only two countries that allow drugs to be advertised to the public---New Zealand and the U.S. That's horrible! Why do we need to push drugs on tv??

I quite like the idea of this for a change and I take garlic capsules for my immune system. I used too much salt when I did irrigation and choked giving me the scare of my life. So if you are going to do nasal irrigation please make sure you don't put too much salt in. Unfortunately that put me off so I got a nasal spray sinusoothe and that keeps my sinuses clear. I used to have terrible congestion due to allergies that also caused sinus infections but this not only keeps my passages clear but also has cured my infection and my allergies don't seem to be as bad. I also haven't caught a cold, flu or even COVID since I started using this over two years ago. But I still take COVID precautions. maybe I've just been lucky.

Chewing on raw onion does the same thing for me. The pungent juices flush out my sinuses, cleanses my throat, and even stings my eyes. But I go to bed and wake up with clear sinuses if I do it morning and night. I chew on raw garlic after lunch and it has a similar effect.

Hi Dr. Berg. Warm water w Himalayan salt gargle, neti pot rinse (using the powder that came with the Neti pot) helped me BREATH again finally… for the past couple weeks since I learned that from your video. Then, this week my sinuses got really badly plugged up again so I tried the strained garlic water in Neti method last nite. But immediately after a small amount of flushing with the Neti it felt like the solution went all the way to the top of my brain and burned like heck (It wasn’t hot water but the pain was from a chemical feeling). I blew my nose a lot and the pain went away. And even though I went thru all that, it ended up that the flush helped a lot…I slept thru the whole nite with clear sinuses. I thought maybe what I have is a fungal growth so I decided to try again today with a much weaker solution, much more water. But it still burned like heck up in my brain. In my life I’ve had that feeling in the past as a kid when trying to do summersalts etc “upside down” in swimming pools. My guess is that I just need to try again with a still weaker, watered down mixture. What are your thoughts on all this? I also started taking Garlic, Oil of Oregano, Turmeric/Curcumin & K2 + D3 supplements in an effort to get my sinuses back to “normal.”
@ewaxie14588 ай бұрын
PLease add some salt to the garlic water. It will definitely sting less. Saline water is similar to our body fluids and tahts why you cab do sinus rinse with saline water and it doesn't burn.

After 3 days my resting heart rate has increased from 52 to 70 bpm so I was wondering if the immune system has been unleashed from the sinus rinse? I’m not sick or anything just was tired a lot and have doubled the energy now on day 5. Just annoyed with the increased heart rate.
