Something about changing lifestyles, breaking carb addictions, staying dedicated: _I never became ready to give up carbohydrates. The desire to completely heal just became greater than the desire to keep feeding myself the foods that were causing my disease._

I found not being too hard on myself the first couple of full day fasts helped me learn what it was like not to be eating my normal foods/ schedule. I still made a bit of progress. Then when my break through to really start feeling better happened after some omad days, that was my incentive to prep for full day fasting with having on hand the things I could drink. Be warey of getting light headed. Minerals in the water help a lot there. I am actually midway through my first ever 3 day fast and feeling very satisfied with myself. Go team!! ( I could be drinking more but bladder issues are making me not drink quite as much while out and about. )

I agree, my thought is you need to ease yourself into the no carb or very low carb by removing the obvious what I call the big carbs, pasta, bread, rice, and potatoes then move on to the more hidden carbs which Dr. Berg has pointed out in various videos. The same goes for sugar, get rid of the obvious and move on to the hidden sugars and/or at least recognize some of the substitutes.

My dad had kidney cancer then remission, then it came back in his lymph nodes and eventually his brain and it killed him too. His younger sister died from cancer many years ago and his older sister was able to beat breast cancer. After having just turned 40 I wanted to be proactive. I’m not here to lose weight as mine has always been healthy but, I have started keto and IF. I feel it’s a necessary lifestyle change for longevity. Thank you for all your research and sharing it Dr. Berg. I only wish more people believed in it over the oncologists that want to subject you to tons of toxicity and don’t even mention a healthy diet.

Your cortisol spikes in the morning, so it's probably best to hold off on the coffee until at least 9am. Having coffee before that will tend to have the reverse perceived effect, and it's probably why people tend to drink multiple cups a day. This may sound similar to sugar, because it is, from a perceived energy standpoint. The reason why fasting in the morning works so well is because your body prepares you to fast until you find food, since Ugg and Ogg didn't have refrigerators.

Naturally, water is the number one drink in any diet. Water is essential for overall health, but also essential for healthy hair and skin. Water does not contain any calories, carbohydrates, or fats. You can also enjoy different types of water such as carbonated water, ready-made flavored water or flavor it at home by adding lemon slices, fruit slices, mint leaves, or cucumber slices. The rate of drinking water should not be less than 1.5-2 liters per day.

The problem with your statement is that everyone is different and our hydration needs change based on activity level, personal metabolism, and environment. You can get hydration from foods, as well as, from liquids. And periodically doing a dry fast (no liquids) is not a bad thing. Typically, you should be urinating 6-8 times per day (every few hours). It should be straw colored, not too dark and not too clear. Learn about the newer hydration science by researching structured water, gel water, H302, EZ water, etc.

Then, I drink it up and wait for ten minutes. After that, I eat some oats or bread. I have diabetes. However, by doing this way, I have no problem with high blood sugar. Me too. I started may 28 2022 just trying it because a friend did it. I thought it was more fun to try for a few days. After 3 serious days of not eating until 2pm, I started to feel the effects. I kept that going for two weeks. Lost 8 pounds, had an incredible energy. This made me naturally want to eat better foods, all the time, because crap foods made me feel terrible when I went down to eating once a day. I found a diet that my body absorbed and digested very efficiently. Ironically enough: adjusting to this have me incredible energy. I also lift weights, and adjusting my protein intake (8 egg whites a day, along with a half a pound of lean meat) my muscles are not only getting bigger but they’re lean and efficient and look much better

I think the most important point is at the beginning of the video when he says, "true fasting is no eating or drinking other than water." To engage the true and full beneficial mechanisms of fasting, one must not eat or drink anything but water. Anything else will wake the digestive system and "break" the fast. If you're only concerned with weight loss, and not the complete set of fasting benefits, then everything else he is saying is good to go!

Being naturally very slender, and having built up a bit with strength training, I was leery of fasting for concerns of losing too much muscle mass. The irony is I've found intermittent fasting about a couple times a week prior to workouts has helped *maintain* muscle mass, evidently by training the body to burn fat and damaged cells, rather than healthy muscle mass, when in a catabolic state. I've heard conflicting advice about breaking the fast with BCAAs just prior to a workout. Some say it helps prevent injury, others say go ahead and fast, then hit the BCAAs along with a protein/carb shake right after to start rebuilding ASAP. I've not noticed any difference as far as injury goes, because I warm up very thoroughly before any HIIT and/or strength workout.

OMG...two hours ago, I was thinking about researching what, if anything, could I drink during intermittent fasting. And aftet watching a Dr. Berg video on a totally different subject, this video suggestion appears on my KZbin. Thanks Dr. Berg for the wealth of health info that you share. I just found Dr. Berg's videos on yesterday and I subscribed. God bless you!

I IF almost daily and besides weight loss I have dropped ugly fat lumps off the outside of my legs and reduced my round rear. Best weight loss I could ask for! My waist is slimmer too. Was 128 last year, now 113. at 5'1" 72 years young :) I do not do Keto, but pay some attention to limiting sugar and carbs.

@@aysherbint2684 room temperature or warm is best. I read somewhere that cold liquids hurt the spleen
