The keystone to losing body fat is hormones the main one being insulin. Insulin in the body is primarily used to convert the glucose in the blood to a form of fat to store in the adipose tissue. This fat storing hormone production is increased when a person becomes more insulin resistant. So to lose body fat it is important to become more insulin sensitive. Fasting, eating a lot of high fiber foods, and walking a lot for exercise are a few things that will reduce insulin resistance.
@paulmews10433 жыл бұрын
Problem with just exercise is that people think because they are exciting that they can eat unhealthy foods. The reality is that it’s 90% about the foods you eat. I disagree with fasting though, it will bugger up your metabolism if you constantly go in and out of fasting. I ate 5 times a day and lost 9 stones in 5 months. Bit I proportion controlled and ate low calories for that period, coming out of it slowly, eating healthier foods. But wouldn’t just fast. You should eat something every few hours to keep the metabolism ticking over.
@threetunes78103 жыл бұрын
A large part of the problem is sugar, and high GI foods in general. As was mentioned earlier, you want to limit your body's production of insulin while you're trying to lose weight. Eating high GI food causes an insulin surge which turns off your body's fat burn mode. It almost doesn't matter how much you exercise, as long as you're spiking your insulin levels you'll have real difficulty burning fat as your body just won't do it until its got the right conditions to do so. Just draw up a list of high GI foods and limit your intake of those foods, particularly on cardio exercise days. For lifting weights or being competitive with others I don't really care about limiting GI intake though. That works for me. Simple enough to actually stick to and it works.

Been saying this for a long time. There was no way people ate the 3 meals a day. Those at the top know this but also know eating that much causes lethargy and health issues that they can profit from. I've been wanting to segue into one meal a day. Can you briefly tell us what that journey was for you? Were you hungry or was it just getting the habit going and then you were good? Was it a lunch or a dinner you go with, for one meal a day? Asked sincerely, because like you say, 3 meals a day when you have fasted, you KNOW that is not what our body requires. I tell people how fasting is ironically, mostly a MENTAL exercise. If I fast for a day, I never really physically feel hungry. It's astonishing. Thanks again for your helpful words. ~E

Vitamins and enzymes are helping the digestion. Fasting means no digestion, so you don't need them if no food to be processed. Minerals are lost during a very long water fasting, several weeks long. They are eliminated with the urine. During a 72h fasting you don't need to take minerals. Ingestion of anything except water starts the digestion, thus breaking the fast.

How did you feel after your fast?
@misfittoytower7 ай бұрын
Hello. I have been doing prolonged fasting for a few years, now, and I wanted to share a couple things that I have learned along the way. I strongly encourage everyone to precede a prolonged fast with several days of strict, healthy Keto. That benefits you in several ways: by getting you over carbohydrate addiction and cravings, it allows autophagy to start earlier during your fast, and also it will help you kill off excess growth of candida. A rapid candida fungus die-off is really what makes the first few days of fasting so miserable because of the Herxheimer reaction. (I'm throwing in terms you can research.) I was always confused why I had histamine reactions, diarrhea and joint pain while fasting, and it was because of the Herxheimer reaction. If you kill that off in advance of a fast slowly with raw garlic and things like kefir, kimchi, sour kraut, and Greek yogurt, that should make fasting a lot less unpleasant.

I'm doing a 8 day water fast. What I plan on doing when I return back to eating is the OMAD ( one meal a day ) which is what your currently doing. Eventually I'm going to KETO my OMAD. Thats gonna be record breaking. The thing I love about OMAD is you can eat whatever you want, cookies, rice, steak, pizza....whatever. I give myself a 1.5 hour window a day for eating. No snacking at all! So....if I KETO in that 1.5 hours then thats putting me at a ideal calorie deficiency! Which is what I want!

Just broke my 108 HR fast after 4 days and lost 16 lbs....hunger cravings went away and felt so good these last 4 days...less in the washroom....no gas, bloating, heartburn, indigestion.....felt like refurbished human ! Also the benefits of denying ones self to eat all the time....spiritual strength 💪, metal strength and general desire and will power. Fasting in my opinion is like a massive stepping stone to the change needed to start living healthy. Looking forward to my next fast in January, and would encourage many to try it with a friend for accountability and encouragement. Thanks Eric for all your knowledge and share your videos with everyone constantly! Cheers to good health and overcoming mental weakness while reaping physical benefits in our wonderfully created body. Miracle!

Drink some electrolytes while fasting for prolonged periods of time. Will help combat sides like dizziness. I make my own super cheap drink with No Salt (Potassium chloride), Himalayan pink salt, Non-GMO baking soda, Epsom salt (cheap form of magnesium, but can upgrade to better forms like Mag-l-threonate if you have GI issues), and boron. Mix it all up in a big jug according to my needs and sip on it through my fast period and feel great.

Clearly you don’t do anything other than sit at your office job and then watch tv for the rest of the day because if your doing any type of training you NEED the nutrients and macros for performance and recovery. I strongly suggest intermittent fasting, It seems the shock to the body from long time fasting can be harmful in instances where the body, is already in need of vital nutrients. I notice some important things have to be done before fasting, is to have good enough sleep, otherwise, you can feel very sick and bad, and sleepy too. But one bad thing happened to me when I was fasting it was a bad headache, then later I noticed what it was, it was missing coffee drink, which I quit last year in November, Instead, I decided to drink tea or water, and now I do not have strong headaches during fast. When we have fast, we also make that day as a screen-free day or device-less day. Thank you so much for this Doctor, I had not known that fasting is healthy for the body. But when you fast, put oil on your head, and wash your face, so that you don’t show your fasting to people but to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. This is my first time doing a 3day water fasting I’m at 60hours now and I have lost 10pounds. Trying to push to 72hours aiming for a better immune system. It was my first pregnancy and I have gained 40 pounds. Since I gave birth 7months ago I get extreme fatigue for doing the smallest task like going grocery shopping at Costco. I consulted two doctors. I did all the blood tests, but they can’t find anything wrong. They only mentioned that my cholesterol being slightly high but they say it is not the cause of my disease. So now I’m trying 3day fasting hoping to feel good in my body again and go back to work full time. Thank you so much Dr Erick for your videos.

I am 49yo. Fasting every Wednesday for 20-24 hours (drinking only water) for more than 3 years now. Added Friday in the last 4 weeks, so 2 days a week now. I had never felt better in my entire life. I lost 7 kg (I am 170cm/63kg), feel very energetic, sharp minded, more disciplined and organized. Combined with daily meditations I am doing for a year now and tracking my sleep thru the app on my apple watch for 2 years, my life changed forever. People get shocked when I tell them my age, nobody gives me more that 35. I love my life and enjoy every minute of it! Good luck to everybody who decided to challenge themselves and start intermittent fasting! And Dr Berg, thank you for the great video!

Now it makes even more sense as to why the Holy Bible commands us to fast. This was a super enlightening video
@michelemoneywell87653 жыл бұрын
Fasting is done throughout the Bible, but only commanded once a year. The command is for a 24-hour period starting on the 9th day of the 7th biblical calendar month (usually our September) in the evening and ending at evening on the 10th day, the Day of Atonement, also known as Yom Kippur. Contrary to tradition, one day ends and the next begins with light, at daybreak, not sunset. Evening (ereb in Hebrew) is mixing, the mixture of light with dark. You can't have this mixture without first having light. The "day" portion is morning, day, and evening. The night portion is no sunlight. Until the sun was created/restored and given its appointment on the 4th day, the daybreak light was from The Word who became flesh and lived among us. The Day of Atonement symbolizes the payment and forgiveness of our sins and the putting away of Satan (for the 1000 years Millennium) so we can be At-One-Ment with Yahuwah. We come into the day already in a fasted state. Then at evening we celebrate, as sins forgiven and Satan put away. Today, those who believe Yahushua (Jesus) (and follow Torah) do not need to wait once a year to have our sins forgiven. Yahushua is our Melchizedek High Priest sitting at the right hand of our Heavenly Father. By repentance and prayer, he can forgive sins 24/7. Sin is the transgression of the law. Our Creator knows better than any human what things we should not eat. Read Leviticus 11 or search "clean and unclean foods" or "biblical diet" to know what is not food.

@@michelemoneywell8765 Matthew 9:14-17 Then John’s disciples came and asked him, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?” Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast. “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” The entire purpose of the disciples’ and the Pharisees’ fasting was to show a longing for the day God would show up and show favor to Israel again. But Jesus was right there with them! There was no need for fasting at that moment. But immediately afterward, Jesus said, “the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.” He wasn’t putting an end to all fasting. He specifically said the time to fast would be coming again! But now, our fasting isn’t filled with mourning as it was for the Pharisees. Instead, it’s filled with longing because we know Jesus came and will come again!

When I started fasting, I couldn´t even skip one meal! Once I started going above the 3 day mark I remember having episodes of feeling like I had taken ecstasy (which was delightful). Additional side effects included: sustained mental clarity, improved linguistic capacity and a higher reasoning ability - plus no hunger at all except first thing in the morning and refreshing deep sleep. In fact, fasting was such a great method for me that after following a fasting protocol over several months, I cured myself from Crohns disease. 10 years later, no relapses.

@@Nightmare.853 well, I just focused on extending the time without food, for example, started by skipping 1 meal, then a couple of days later when my mind was focused, I'd skip 2, then 3, then 2 days and so on. It's a process where you make an effort, then recover, bigger effort, recover again etc. It was also strict water fasting and trying to sleep as much as possible, meditation, and as little TV, video games and stress as possible.
