I love the way you phrased it: "girls want to attract the male gaze". That's really what it is, isn't it? The boys are starting to "glance" at the girls in a way they never have before, and it is important that the mothers of the young daughters teach their girls how to appropriately gain the male's attention with beauty and poise. Thank you, Nikki!🥰

My daughter will turn 30 this fall. She recently thanked me for not allowing her to get a tattoo when she was younger. I told her then that her body was beautiful and she shouldn't get one. I told her how priceless she was. I also told her that I would buy her all the canvases she wanted to express herself there instead of tattoos on her body. My daughter now has two daughters of her own. Thank you for sharing your heart on this matter. Simply lovely.

I am 33 and recently thanked my mother for the very same thing. No tattoos, no piercings other than my ear lobes… My mother was a class act and it impacted me in all areas of my life. Now as an adult woman I am so grateful for her guidance in my younger days, even if I didn’t like it then.

I made a decision many years ago as a teacher to ditch the trousers and wear skirts, heels, dresses etc.. as I saw a decline in the standard of clothing amongst the staff. Of course I got many comments ( often catty) but a few colleagues actually said to me that I’d inspired them to do the same and they ditched the trousers too. Amazing what happens when you make some changes and how it affects others . X

That's wonderful that you chose to lead by example in this way despite the catty comments. I remember how nice my teachers always looked, so professional but you're right, things have declined so much unfortunately.

Dear Nikki, your daughters are so blessed to have a wonderful mother like you! I hope they realize this and apply this wisdom in their hearts. I’m so glad you touched on this subject as it is so important in a time like this. Before I was saved, I didn’t know how much appearance affected the way people perceived me but also how I perceived myself. There has always been a push (even more so today) for young ladies to dress in a way that makes them appear…in lack of better words “easy”. I didn’t understand how modesty could be so freeing. Now dressing modest and feminine, it’s actually very eye opening to see how people will treat you. People will open doors for you, men are respectful, older folks will smile and greet you, and occasionally I get complimented for how I’m dressed. I even feel better about myself now that I’m not conforming to society’s standards by looking skimpy. Mostly, I dress like this to please God. Thank you for this video. God bless you. ❤

What a lovely and inspiring video! One thing ladies of all ages need to remember is to look at yourself from ALL angles in a full length mirror. And move and bend etc… while doing so. Most of us are pretty ignorant of what we are showing to others when wearing something. I know I was.

Hello Nikki, thank you for this wonderful video, and for all your beautiful content! I remember first seeing your video about morning routines and I was and still am so blessed by your inspiration around femininity. My mother passed away when I was twelve, but I still remember her always making an effort to dress up nicely, even when she was just at home with us children. Your videos have filled a bit of the gap she left and I'm so thankful for another role model to be inspired by. You have such a lovely motherly passion for truth and beauty and I have been blessed by it. Thank you.

Thank you for this! This is even helpful for grown women trying to change how they dress, update their manners and just their general femininity journey. Many of us lack certain important information on being a proper lady. I agree about asking men what they think. What they think is important if we want to have great relationships with them. One interesting thing that I've learned about sitting properly a few years ago is something called the Windsor and half Windsor sit, it's the way the Queen of England used to sit and how the Royal family teaches their ladies to sit. When you said you have England as the code word for your kids it made me think of the proper way that the Queen sits. In today's modern world, it's so important to counter act the pop culture by teaching girls and teens traditional lady-like behavior. I think It will serve them well and allow them to have successful lives.

Ugh. Yes. We went to a "family campground" a couple years ago to spend the day at the lake there. We never even chose a spot on the beach. Too many thong style "bikinis" on the mothers as well as teenaged daughters. I am no prude by any means, but I was appalled. My husband and I glanced around, then at each other, and promptly led our children back to the van. They were disappointed but we did not want them exposed (quite literally!) to that. After explaining it, they understood and agreed. Our eldest is 16 and has made remarks on numerous occasions how repulsed she is by the way other girls her age dress.

What is horrifying is how the mothers dress sometimes!! Thank you for being a wonderful example to your daughters, women and young ladies. It’s becoming a wonderful trend. That I hope endures. My Dad used to say that a woman was sexier with clothes on. Clothes emphasize our femininity and a man is drawn to the entire look, not a particular area per se. I agree. Too much skin seems to cry out “look at me.” However, it is the spirit that matters when it comes to meaningful relationships.

Hi Nikki. First let me tell you that I love your dress. The flower print is beautiful. Elegant and so feminine. Second, I totally agree with you. The external influence of social networks, movies and fellow students, can make our girls want to look sexy instead of beautiful. It's a topic to discuss with them without a doubt. I think it's good to explain to them that the image they build today will serve tomorrow. Although it is not only about image, but about self-respect. Your girls are enormous and model very well. I used to wear tops and skirts a lot more, but I find that it be more difficult and not as much my style. Especially most denim skirts. 4:48 That was SO refreshing to hear, and I even think this is the first time i've ever heard something like that. I have had feelings of guilt and even felt kinda dirty for wanting to attract male attention. But you are 100% right it is a NATURAL thing for both men and women to want to atract the opposite sex with the way we dress and there's nothing wrong with that. Of course that is not the only reason why we choose a certain piece of clothing, but is part of that, specially if you are single (am currently single :3☺️). Thank u so much for this video Nikki ^^ your daugthers are beautiful btw 💕

Thank you! We most certainly should concern ourselves with what men find to be beautiful as well and what's funny is that it's the complete opposite of what society is pushing. Attracting the right man with vulgarity, aggressive demeanor and an uncomely appearance just doesn't add up 🌹

I posted a comment earlier, but it seems that my computer may have glitched and deleted it, unfortunately. If you see two of the same types of comments from me, I apologize. I agree with your sentiments, and, as Nikki mentioned, that there is a difference between dressing beautifully and dressing sensually. Both are attractive to men, but they attract different types of men. A lady should never make compromises with regard to modesty. I am reminded of a friend of mine who desires to marry. Her father tells her to wear shorter skirts if she wishes to catch the attention of men, but she wisely refuses. However, neither does she wear potato sacks. She has very lovely, feminine dresses and skirts that modestly conceal her form while also flattering her. When I first began wearing dresses and skirts, I was not sure how to dress, but I have taken inspiration from historical fashion. I find that the nicest dresses are fitted (but not tight) at the waist, with long, full skirts. Here are a few examples I have found from Instagram. Not all of them are perfect, but they still give a general idea of what I'm referencing. instagram.com/p/CdfeyxGqNeD/?img_index=3 instagram.com/p/Cv2K7-9IJkB/ instagram.com/p/Cum9P6xN4U8/?img_index=6 instagram.com/p/CsO_8PZrtGm/ instagram.com/p/CuSxfeLgI56/ instagram.com/p/CsedOWYtiHw/?img_index=1

I’m happy to see that young women are wanting more for themselves and keeping high but realistic standards for themselves and their future partners. They are realizing that dressing and acting like a 304 may attract attention, but it attracts the WRONG kind of attention, and they’re learning (either through others or unfortunately with their own experience) that they’re getting men who have the WRONG intentions. I think it’s reflecting with the “old money aesthetic” trend as well as more young women learning from content creators who focus on elegance and etiquette AND putting it into practice.

I have talked countless times with my daughter about modesty but she is her own person and she will do what she wants. She is very strong headed and independent our eldest son is looking for a lady that's modest to settle down with. Unfortunately that's not how society teaches our children and the new generations to come! I was a tomboy hated dresses and did not care for that male attention. My daughter is very strong willed so even with her going on 21 like I said she will do what she wants. I never dressed revealing while raising this girl! It's so frustrating! Took her to secret keeper girl events the whole 9 yards! Yet she still has her own mind. Can't change her mind. So I am choosing peace within our relationship and treasuring what we do have in our relationship! Maybe some day she'll come around. But yes this is a great reminder and message to others regarding modesty! I honestly don't care about clothing. Never have. But can't walk around naked! Lol! 🤣👍🏽🌹( both of my adult kids have tattoos like I said they are their own individuals no one should be judged due to being expressive-regarding tattoos)
@TheLadyoftheHouse Жыл бұрын
I hope your eldest son finds his lady. That is true, society has a way of teaching that isn't right but there are plenty of parents doing the hard work of raising their daughters to be ladies and sons to be gentlemen. I'm confident that she is out there. When you think about it, everything we display for others to see opens us up to judgement, it's just the way it is. That's why I ask, "What are we saying?"
@justsewit_tk5477 Жыл бұрын
I make my children's clothes. They are influenced by peers and media. However, I feel that it is important for them to explore their personal style with some gentle guidance from mum. My youngest is 8 and she still loves the frill but our lifestyle doesn't call for frilly so the special dresses aren't as abundant in her wardrobe. She wears a school uniform so the dilemma of getting dressed daily is taken away. I teach my girls (and my son) that dressing is for our own comfort. Of course dress appropriately for the occasion but dress in a way that is classic and stylish.

If only every mother, grandmother, friend, took the time and patience to explain to young women why modesty is so important inside and out. Unfortunately, the outside world does judge who we are by the way we present ourselves. I wish I had listened when I was younger.

It takes some of us longer than others to realize the great wisdom shared with us over the years. So many times we shut our ears because it's not what we want to hear.

This video is so timely! My husband just came in 30 min ago talking about our daughter and she plays basketball and sometimes wears the uniform around. He spoke that he doesn’t like that (except for actually playing ball) because it’s not feminine at all, but nothing like that for daily wear. I agreed completely. I’m just glad he spoke up! And thankful for your video today.

I did not have any daughters...all boys now grown men but I am curious to know, especially in current times, are your girls bullied in any way at school for dressing so lady like or have you found that they actually become mentors for some of the other girls in that they too have begun dressing more modestly? Your daughters look so nice in their dresses. It is wonderful that you are teaching them how to be a young lady.

My girls always receive such kind compliments at school when they wear dresses. My oldest daughter wears them every day and on the last day of school was even told by a staff member that he appreciated how professional she looks each day.

Nikki, your daughters did a wonderful job modeling the dresses! It is truly a battle with daughters and society and the world that they are faced with. I have work with both of my girls on this and it has been incredibly difficult with my youngest where the styles switched from longer shirts to crop style shirts. You presented some great ideas on how to talk to daughters that I think would be helpful. They both respected my guidelines, but I definitely got a lot of pushback, I’m hoping when they are older, they will understand more.

Most women dress for themselves or to impress other women not to impress men.

This is true. It's no wonder why so many women are missing the mark when it comes to dressing beautifully and why nobody is impressed.

I appreciate your opinion, everyone feels differently about such things and it’s truly something we each must determine ourselves. What seems right to you may not be to me and vice versa.
