To be fair, I don’t know that that was a common fashion trend? My grandma was born in 1930 and didn’t wear pants until her honeymoon twenty years later. Even then, she didn’t want to, but they were riding donkeys down the Grand Canyon…

I was so embaressed, because girls did not wear pants to school, that I hid in the bushes in the school yard and cried. I didn't want to go inside. By 6th grade almost all girls wore pants to school. The changed stuck after that.

I love the 40's and 50's dress style, but Rachel was missing the many many _many_ layers of petticoats underneath her dresses to make the skirt poof up, stand out, swing and sway. Especially when twirling at the music halls! Sadly, there was usually a lot of men in uniform in the early 1940's, who were about to ship out and possibly lose their lives fighting the Axis powers in WWII. But the women still made such an effort to look good, even with bombs falling all around them! Hair and clothes were always fine, and you looked well cared for, even if the clothes were getting a little...old and threadbare. They worked hard by day, and partied hard (by 1940's standards, not today's lol) by night! But they kept the country going while the men fought to keep it safe. They were all such amazing generations of people back then, I can't see a war in the UK now and prior actually putting up with super strict food and clothing rationing, as well as the "make do and mend" mindset that whole families, whole communities got behind in the early 1940's. Could you imagine just how upset the snowflakes of today's generation would get if they couldn't get their grandé double shot 3 pump caramel latte with extra foam and cocoa powder stencilling? Ooo, 😖it would NOT be pretty, that's for sure! LOL! 😉🤭 We could all do with remembering the hardships, the courage, the coming together as 1 that that generation went through. They obviously did _something_ right for us to live in the crazy, fast paced world we do today.
