As a Browns fan, I remember this game distinctly. It was at the beginning of my senior year of HS, which turned our to be a pretty dramatic year. Anyways, that first play from scrimmage TD called back on a holding call summed up that season and most of the teams during that time period. Our record never really reflected it (except in 2007), but most of those losing years, we had SO MANY CLOSE games that we just couldn't find a way to win. Go back and look at some of the scores during this time period and up until about 2016 or so (16 and 17 were awful). This game was one of them. Our first play was a TD called back because of a hold. Our last offensive play was a quick slant pass that bounced right off Braylon Edwards hands for an INT. We lose by 5. Also, 15 years later. This is just crazy.

2006 Saints are one of the most underrated teams ever
@robsmith9613 жыл бұрын
Nah- they were only 10-6 (they did lose their last game of the year without playing many starters having the bye wrapped up); they lost badly at home against the AFC teams (Bengals and Ravens)- a time in which the AFC was more dominant than the NFC; they did win one playoff game, but they lost in the NFC championship game to a team quarterbacked by Rex Grossman. Bad team? By no means! They made the NFCCG. But I would not consider them underrated. In fact, for being a number two seed in their conference, I would say they were a rather weak two-seeded team.
@larrylewis73953 жыл бұрын
We still made it to the NFC championship tho.
@clark25013 жыл бұрын
@@robsmith961 considering they were 3-13 the year before, I’d say that team was a little underrated. Plus that Bears team ran through their defense, not the offense. The offense just had to play clean football and the defense would give them opportunities. They did that all the way until the SB. Hell Manning had a worse game than Brees did against them and he won by two scores while the Saints lost by 25.

If it wasn't for drew who inspired me i wouldn't have turned towards something so great(football) and i would probably be in the streets or dead honestly. Not only did he set records but he help my dad's city as much as he could. Gave New Orleans hope not only in football but outside of it too. He got us to the promise land and help turn this franchise into one of the best franchise for the best part of 14 years. I will always remember his 5,000 yd seasons, great accuracy, and amazing resilience. Will always remember the great games and comebacks all throughout his career from when he one in Miami in 09, to when he dueled eli and Odell in one of the best games I've ever seen in '15 to when he clutched it out against Deshaun Watson and DeAndre Hopkins last season. Even tho he had his bad moments i never once thought he sucked cuz everyone does. Lol man i didn't even cry when my grandma died but i can't help feeling like ima cry cuz drew leaving I won't tho. Instead of miss im gonna celebrate the moments he gave to New Orleans appreciate him. Drew Brees not only save my team but he has save me and me other lives in ways most people wouldn't understand. NFL Throwback, I would love to recommend a game to be shown on this channel, and that’s the Monday Night Football- Colts vs Panthers Week 8 2015 game. The game had both Luck and Newton in their primes, it was exciting to see both young QBs. I also remember the game was decided in Overtime, and was a class prime time thriller that no one talks about. I think that with Cam resigning with New England and Olsen and Thomas Davis retiring it would make sense to show a Panthers game during that wonderful 2015 season. It could maybe be called like “Luck and Newton Duel it out in Primetime” or something of that nature. Regardless, keep up the fantastic work!!!

Drew Brees' 2006 season is one of those really good forgotten years that no one talks about. Took over a sorry team that went 3-13 the year prior and immediately turns them around, helping them finish with a 10-6 record and an NFC South division title. Made it all the way to the NFC Championship game where the magic ultimately ran out against Chicago, but still a very impressive year nonetheless. Ironically enough, those Bears played Peyton Manning's Colts in the Super Bowl in Miami, something Drew Brees would go onto to do 3 seasons later. Only difference was that Brees came out on top unlike Chicago. One helluva career for the man. Damn shame it ended on such a sour note though. Wishing him all the best in retirement. Next up, Canton, OH.

It's so interesting to see how much the game has changed over the years in terms of strategy, you would never see so many plays under Center in todays NFL. Drew Brees will be one of the best QBs in the history of the NFL , and yes it will be very weird without him if he decides to call it quits and retire which i can definitely see happening
