Thank you Thank you 🙏🏿 I appreciate you guys for this. I dealt with MI (Mental Illness) for 20 years untreated as a foreign student/ athlete having no family members was a struggle thankfully my wife saw it once she was in the picture but for 20 years it was hell on earth. The help came in once I could share why I was angry and channel it to why and how I could deal with issues. Seeking professional help was no longer a daunting task. Now I have a better way of addressing it and taking more on how I feel.

WOW what an incredible interview. I love how in depth they got with this young man. They asked the perfect questions. The part about his dad being in his garage at one point was very emotional to me.

Gentlemen, Gentlemen, Gentlemen... What an excellent job with the interview! (With exception to that one hiccup), all your questions and comments were all thoughtful and tactful! You guys cultivated an environment where your interviewee showed a high comfort level, where he was free to share his thoughts and feelings. The information he shared is so needed by parents, teachers and counselors (I'm a volunteer Catechists for high school and grade school students). His story is such a sobering news as a parent and a teacher--it's scary to think that it can happen to anyone (to the best of us). Even with a loving and supporting family, friends and a Pro-level career, it's scary to think that it can happen to him too?!!!. It's truly sobering--I'm still thinking about it. Thanks for this episode. God Bless you all!

I love that they provided him a safe place. I’m a clinical social worker and while I fully agree with Fred that people are more inclined to listen to Drew as an athlete, I also feel passionately that there is a place for a therapist/counselor on the sidelines/in the dugout/etc. My dream job right now is to be a therapist for professional athletes. While my athletic career ended in after high school, it took time to get to where I’m at now. This episode was powerful. The word I kept hearing was hopeless

I'm glad The Pivot continues to bring up mental health on their platform. On a lighter note, love me some RC but he completely jacked up the Mike Piazza story. Piazza joined the Mets 6 years into his MLB career. He started and was drafted by the Dodgers.

November is Mens Mental Awareness Month. Fellas...you are not NOT a man if you ask for help. In fact, you ARE a man if you do. Forget the ego ish...be vulnerable and ask for help or talk to someone. There is no shame whatsoever. In fact, if you are watching the Pivot, these are Black men who cry publicly. I am not Black, but many of my friends are and how often do you all hear Black men, or even in general any man, hate on another man for crying and saying it's weak. Nah, those fools who say that are the ones who are weak. You owe nothing to anyone but yourself. It can be lonely, and I know that because I've been facing that for 30+ years, but believe there's light at the end if you allow there to be. If you make a mistake, it's alright....that doesn't mean you failed, that just means you are human and you can learn and move forward.

Channing is trying to find an external reason for the suicide attempts or the depression but often is brain chemistry or body chemistry and all the great things in your life are not going to change that
@GOD999MODE Жыл бұрын
Certain thoughts that weigh heavily on you for years and years also cause that change in brain chemistry. Too many people think that neurotransmitters (equilibrium) being out of whack is the cause, but your mind changes it if you don't stay present and allow certain parasitic astral forms take ahold of you. It's a complex issue at its core and some of it can be caused by unresolved ancestral energies.
