Nah, dogs are pack animals, and prefer to be with their family/pack. If Bailey is relegated to the outdoors, I feel very sad for him/her. They are social creatures, therefore he/she is probably lonely. They'll adapt, and it'll seem like they are happy, but given the choice, dogs want to be with their people, at all times. They'll take what you give, but if it's up to them, they'll be by your side. I'd say to get another dog to keep Bailey company, but don't want another dog living outside, away from its family. Ten degrees is AWFUL. My 6 dogs are all cuddled up on the couch under blankets, waiting for bed time, where they will get in my bed, along with my 6 cats, and I live in Phoenix. My tortoise is in his cage, door open, on his warmer. Tomorrow afternoon, he'll go out the dog door to sunbathe a bit before he grazes on grass until sunset when he comes back in the house, has a snack, then heads to his cage to get on top of his warmer, for the night. Builder dude, do better. Don't have animals, if you don't want them in the house, and part of your life.

@@energeticsoulhealer888 exactly my thoughts. My little puppy is my world and I would go through hell and back for my lil bud. Just like any parent would do for their human kids. The animals on this planet deserves better treatment, humans are awful and disgusting on the inside and out. Animals are just animals they are pure and they are like babies. @energeticsoulhealer8882 жыл бұрын
@@FranksfuckingYT exactly. This poor, sweet dog doesn't need a fancy dog house, it needs a family that loves it enough to make it an actual member, and part of, the family. Making it live away is CRUEL ASF. I go to the grocery store and my dogs act like I was gone for months, lol. People value their THINGS more than their loyal dogs who would protect them until their dying breath. Do they shed in the house? You betcha. Get a roomba. Figure it out. Better yet, don't get a dog if you can't love it enough to honor it as a valued member of your pack. The guy didn't even allow Bailey in his workshop when he was building it. I knew the minute he called him/her a "farm dog" that this poor baby wasn't allowed indoors, IN CANADA no less. What a complete DICK.

I thought something like that too. Don’t know what kind of weather he gets but putting in a concrete foundation is not *that* formidable. Even if it’s just around the edges with sand in the center. Only problem is this was a Winter project, digging frozen ground is nasty, getting concrete to cure… I don’t even know if it is possible. And a Canadian foundation would have to be pretty deep because of the expected lows. Not sure if too deep for a non-driven excavator tool-rented, of course-but as I understand it using a small driven model is too specialized for a novice to use. Anyway, done is done and the results is pretty spectacular. The dog may not appreciate the beautiful appearance but it looks good in the yard-and the comfort features speak for themselves. I thought it was really impressive.

Just a couple water ceiling tips. After cutting the plywood barn siding it's a good idea to paint the cut edges especially the ones going toward the bottom. That siding will rot out and break down pretty fast compared to other wood When doing the fascia flashing and you're not able to bend it around a corner and you do a lap. Which yours looked really good. It's a good idea to put butyl or mastic or even some double-sided foam tape in the lap. The silicone on the surface will eventually lose adhesion and water will find its way in there. Especially with freeze and thaw.

Brilliant job. My only suggestion would have been to make the roof structure hinged so you can literally lift it up and do things inside the house without having to crawl in. Cleaning it out, replacing dog bedding, checking on the dog if he is immobile, all made much easier if you can just pop the lid and look inside, and there's no reason you can't do that even with a nice solid roof. You might want to add hydraulic lifters to make it easier, particularly in Winter, but that would only cause a minor budgetary increase for a tremendous amount of ease of future operation.

Agreed, I was slightly worried that the house - and the entrance - were a bit on the small side. Bailey's quite a big girl, and it was noticeable she had to crouch to get through the doorway. God forbid she were ever taken ill or collapsed inside the dog house - it would be a struggle to get her out through that doorway. I agree, a hinged roof (or even wall) would allow fast/easy access to the interior for cleaning or anything else, when needed.

Awesome build. Mine was a bit more rudimentary, but same "creature comforts" + a solar powered vent fan for during the summer months. I used 2x 200 watt chicken coop heater panels with a wifi reptile habitat thermostat as the controller. Between heating, cooling, and a doggy door I'm into it for less than $200.00. I sourced most of my build materials for free. And had to buy a large sheet of 2.5 inch foam for insulation. It's so reassuring; being able to monitor the tempature of her house during the winter months. It's 22 degrees outside right now and her house is 70 degrees inside. I also have a wifi camera to keep an eye on her aswell.

Absolutely love the dog house, you most likely are aware but if the dog bed has synthetic fill it is very hospitable to mold and mildew, especially with it being overtop the in floor heating. Looks awesome. Love the look including the lights and wood exterior. $1500 US for a doghouse isn't realistic unless you're wealthy. A conventional 60 watt or 100 watt light bulb (not LED) inside the doghouse provides a lot of heat especially if you add the clear plastic "door". I've built and purchased dog houses over the years. I add the clear plastic "door", a light bulb in a small enclosure for heat, seal up the dog house with caulking, and you'd be amazed at how warm the interior gets. I understand why this kind of video is more popular though :). Thanks for the content. Lucky dog!

All pets deserve this love! I would have made the door taller but this was incredible!!

Taller wider Kennel with a bigger entrance suitable for a bigger dog. Why does a dog house have to be a tight squeeze with little space for any movement?
@TrulyUnfortunate2 жыл бұрын
@@tyc1Z.Z1 The smaller the warmer. My Boxers Love their crates we have in the house. We put blankets over em to make em feel more secure. And they're far smaller than that dog house.

@@tyc1Z.Z1 you don't want a big door because that's where you lose most of the heat. Bigger door equals colder doghouse!

Hey, can’t be over the top for our pups! You are so very talented; I have no words, just wow - wow!

I built a radiant heated doghouse a number of years ago. However I also included a 5000 BTU window air conditioner. It was a much larger doghouse with the left side wall hinged so I could easily open it for regular cleaning. The dog loved it, winter & summer. Yearly operating cost was insignificant.

😮😯😲 My Colorado pup would never come into our home if he had a castle like that! Beautiful project. I'm sure he appreciates all the modern luxurious little goodies his Daddy gave him! 😊

It was a beautiful build. And I was glad to hear you say she did spend a lot of time in the home. But I just couldn't imagine having my dog sleep out side especially in cold winter .they are only here for a short while .

Some dog breeds perfer being in the snow. Are you canadian?
@friendlydog82 Жыл бұрын
Animals mostly can take what Nature throws at them, they don't need A/C or Heating systems like we humans needed that much, specially those breeds biologically suitable for Snow environment, for us put them within our heating house, is kinda slow cooker for them, boil those cancer cells into them. So find out what kind of breed your dog is, and give them those environments to keep them healthy for a long time.

@@friendlydog82 mine has been happy and healthy for 15 years inside my house 🏡 and I still can't imagine leaving my dog out in the snow or cold . Everyone don't keep there house at a heating that is to hot for there dogs.

@@marlaf1545 glad to hear, please say hi to your beautiful elder pet for me. That is why some breeds are much suitable for outdoor, bigger and fit for outdoor activities, major Watch Dogs from ancient times until now, they Needed & Love open space to go around, and Guard their human partners while they rest. Canadian Winter is brutal, specially when Arctic storm blow down from North Pole, this building is pretty good to keep that nice lady for whole winter! Of course, when -40 come, owners for sure will move her inside the house during that period.

First of all excellent idea and execution. As a dog owner whose dogs are outside pretty much the year round I also built them a winterized dog house. A couple of things I did differently: - The dog house has two rooms. A "foyer" and the "main" room and I offset the entrances laterally by as much as possible creating a temperature buffer and preventing wind to blow into the "main" room. - I build a similar roof, but did it as a lid with a set of heavy duty hinges on the top long side. I can lift the roof easily and gain very comfortable access to the interior for cleaning and maintenance. I wish I had thought of putting in an electric heated floor. Beside offering added comfort, it would have been fun integrating it into my home automation system. I also created a small sliding window but I like your solution with the porthole better.

I did same thing on build with main room entrance room but no in heat flooring just straw,carpet and trouble light hanging from ceiling but really wish i had build a hinged roof as i have to snake in like a serpent to change the bulb in the triuble light when it burns out😢
