Fun fact: When Czechoslovakia started to implement reforms in their socialist system to make it more open and democratic, the Soviet Union sent in literal tanks to crush their movement. This caused a divide between leftists worldwide with those blindly loyal to the Soviets being labelled as "tankies". So yeah, Czechoslovakia was forced. If you have very cold winters then you also have very warm summers, that's how a mild climate works and that's what we have in Scandinavia. Where I am located winters around 15-20 minus celsius and summers up to 35, and that's plenty hot to me.
